I like him. Is he the pro who Len really laid into early on in the show for disagreeing with him?
That is the one time this series that I thought that Len was totally out of order. He's annoying when he lets the audience get to him, but that was just plain wrong. He pretends to be all sweetness and light like on It Takes Two last night, it's an entertainment show etc. and then does that.

Yes. Like Trent last year Len picked on someone having mistaken what they were saying or what their gestures were about. Giovanni is a gentle personality as was Trent so it was ugly of Len to speak to them both as he did.

Yes but Maggie and Jamie - thanks for confirming it was Giovanni Len laid into - G did the right thing by smiling when Len had a go. Youth v experience and youth won on that night. I respect Len but agree with Jamie, he lets the audience wind him up and then he bites. He can come across as arrogant when he goes off on one. Well done for Giovanni for getting into the final

I would definitely like to see Gio back - and Oti too, not sure about Gleb though. For me not only should Natalie stay but next year be given a contender. I would like to see Joanne given a reasonable chance next year too - I'm looking forward to seeing Joanne, Oti and Natalie at Christmas.

I hope all the new celebs come back next year but if I had to lose one it would be Gleb.

Kevin for me to keep away but he's so far in with the 'family', we are stuck with him. Gleb will be back

The problem is that male celeb. contenders are thin on the ground each year.
This year we had just the one (well, one and a half, at a push) and 5 good females, and I can't recall too many years with more than 2. Even some of men that won were not that great!
So, female pro's are always going to have more duffers than contenders.

Quick question? Am I meant to be seeing flags in this thread and title, because all I see is IT, ZA and RU?
Aw, sorry, yes! I hadn't appreciated my bunting might not show up for everyone. Looks ever-so pretty too

Lovely to hear so many positive responses! Personally I hope all three newcomers return -- they all add a definite new thing -- and that the wonderful Jo gets a celeb next year too

Can I start a "Come back Gleb" thread complete with little Russian flags?

Sorry, don't get the Giovanni love. I'm sure he's a nice bloke, but I find him a little bit arrogant.
Sorry - compared to Gleb? And once they got over trying to make him Vincent mark 2, and his own character came out I think Giovanni is a sweetheart.

Definitely. Gio has been the absolute star of the series as far as the pro's go. He's got the balance right with his choreography - challenging but achievable. He's patient, an excellent teacher. Knows how to showcase his partner. Seems like a genuinely friendly, funny and charming guy. And I suppose he's not too bad on the eye either

SCD2025 pro of the year and should certainly return.

He was out of order and I think he got the feedback from social media about how out of order people thought he was.

I'm sure the rumba tonight was more for Len than it was for Georgia and Giovanni. Len wanted a chance to apologise. Regardless, they delivered with it as usual anyway.

Giovanni will be back next year

Interesting perspective Humpty. I was glad to see Len redeem himself, and if what you say is the case how brill that he chose such a public way to draw the thing to a close. The whole thing was settled with dignity eventually and Gio was respectful/grateful in return. I was delighted to see the rumba again too.

Maybe I'm the only one who finds it ludicrous - but will they really have a series with three pros named Clifton? Hurry up and marry somebody Joanne! Anybody!!
They just did.

Even if Joanne did get married, it doesn't necessarily mean she would change her name.

I'm sure Anton will still be charging on with his duffers even then...

I didn't like him at first as he seemed a bit cold and humourless, but he settled in over the weeks and I like him now; he's very sweet. He got the right balance in showcasing both Georgia and his own dancing/choreography.

I can't say I was best pleased intiially derviathedog not only because I did think it was more about Len getting his chance to apologise than it was about G&G (there was quite a lot of outrage on social media about how unecessarily rude he had been that night and i'm sure that got back to him) but I just thought it was slightly unfair since it was more about content change than improving on mistakes. I also wasn't keen on them doing two slow dances.

However I loved the rumba the first time. Loved it this time too And it was nice that Giovanni got the chance to hold his head high after the dance - especially as it was a dance that he particuarly loved and was proud of. Wasn't the best of apologies - I think he said something like 'maybe didn't say it in the best of ways' or words to that effect. I would have preferred 'I wasn't pleased with the content but it was rude and unecessary of me to speak to you the way I did and I'm sorry if it made you feel uncomfortable' but I was never going to get that They couldn't have achieved any more tonight. Did you enjoy their performances?

Whoops clearly meant SCD2015 pro of the year!!!

But you're probably right about Anton and his duffers when he's pushing 60!!

Well, true, but it seemed Joanne was more of a backing dancer than a regular pro. But I forget that families have been part of this franchise (and the US one) all along - the Houghs, the Chmerkovskiys in America - the Jordans, the Cutlers, etc...

So never mind

And the Ballas family. Shirley and Corky are former champions and taught Derek, Julianne and Mark to dance, and have ties to the franchise. All very incestuous!

And what difference does it make exactly?

I find it utterly ludicrous to object to someone being on the show simply because a couple of others already have the same surname. It's completely and utterly irrelevant!

Shirley probably trained half the scd pros at some point too
