What happened to this magazine? It went free and is in Topman/Topshop stores but it posts movies and politics rubbish these days nothing to do with music.

Would rather they just axed this magazine like FHM.

This is the sort of crap that made them so irrelevant:

It's no wonder they have to give it away these days.

I buy MOJO magazine which often has a decent cover CD as well as great content. Its far superior. Haven't read NME for years.

I used to buy NME all the time when I was younger. Haven't read it in years. Sounds like I'm not missing much.

The last one I bought was a year ago I think just for the Noel interview.

The last one I bought was a Uncut magazine.

I never bought it but my uncle gave me some old copies of it he had back in 2009. Must've wanted to get rid of them

It had some brilliant, inspired music writing from people like Paul Morley, Charles Shaar Murray, Nick Kent and others in the 70s/80s. That's when I read it.

I still have the NMEs reporting the deaths of John Lennon and John Peel. I also have a few Christmas editions from the Nineties, but it became irrelevant as soon as it changed to the A4 format.

I still haven't seen one of these free issues anywhere.
