Holy crap! Well done Jay and Aliona!

Just watched the final and was a bit scared coming on here to read the comments about the winners (it's not as bad as I thought it would be - carnage, bloodshed, claims of fixing and OFCOM complaints ).

Colour me shocked and surprised but I watched the whole shebang and said "meh“ after their first outing and after dances 2 and 3: "so, erm, they clearly don't want to win this do they”. I couldn't believe how anti-climatic (read: snoozefest) the (not) show dance was and not choosing the jive and opting for a dance they thought they could ’improve' upon rather one of the ones they did best - in the final?! Who does that?? (Puppets and bacofoil aside).

I've been rooting for them since the jive, but if I'd have voted tonight, it would have been for Kellie or Georgia! I know right.

As always, I'm now wondering how I'll fill the SCD shaped hole in my tv playback schedule. (17 days til CBB so... )

Thank you Rhumba. It was this that I loved.

I hope and hope that somebody doesn't come forward and sell to the papers that he had ballet lessons up to the age of X.

I loved Georgia too and I think she has a great future.

Aw come on! Are you kidding? Kevin is a great choreographer and Jo is a world champion who has been brilliant on ITT this year. Yes, I would rather see her with a partner (especially one with more potential than Scott), but we saw what kind of teacher she might make in Choreography Corner. And why shoudl Karen be forced off the show because she got married???

It's not like they are judging each other is it? And why not keep two home grown dancers?

BTW I was a G&G supporter.

I would tend to agree with bendymixer, he was outshone by the two women in the final.

As it's supposed to be a dance competition based upon the dances presented on the night, I actually thought his final performances for the final were quite forgettable against GG's Chicago & KK's Showdance with the train..

That being said, he was the most consistent performer throughout the series and his Pulp Fiction-themed jive was the best dance of the entire competition for technicality, and an inspired choice of music & routine from Aliona (don't know why he didn't do this dance in the final), great entertainment overall tho...

The Clifton 'hate' is totally irrational IMO. Isn't it nice to see home grown talent on a UK show? Even more so the fact that they're not lovies from London but from a hard working family from the North?

Why does it matter that three of them are called Clifton?

Sorry Buddy but Kevin does everything for himself, to make him look good. I'd rather keep Joanne and his wife over him. I find him insufferable.... Sorry

Who said it was? I voted for Jay because I have enjoyed his performances every single week - I have loved watching him dance.

I know the show dance was probably a bit too subtle for some - I know it wasn't razzamatazz but - it was beautiful in it's simplicity IMO.

Personally I think Craig was mean spirited and too focused on Georgia to give Jay a 10 - it was a bit petty IMO.

No problem. We all have our favourites and those we're not so keen on. I've been on a hiding to nothing for the last few years for sticking up for the Jordans. All I can say is why do people keep calling me Bonny?!

Doh! You spotted it!

Ach it's not the first time Craig's revealed a bit of malice when his flashy fave is in danger.

Craig doesn't understand subtlety, or tenderness or nuance, not really, and he's not self aware enough to realise that that's taste and not 'better'.

Probably in most other countries people would be proud to have a family of such talented dancers especially considering that there are very few other British dancers on the programme.

I'm sure all the judges have their own favourites & are naturally drawn to some more than others depending on their own preferences of routine chosen, one thing you can normally bank on however is that CRH is at least 1 point lower than the other judges & plays the panto villain role with way too much glee (probably why he does a lot of panto!)..

Like I said in my earlier post tho for me I wish Jay had done the Pulp Fiction routine as it suited his technical style & brought his character to the fore & would have made it an even better competition 'on the night'.

Great entertainment overall tho!

Anita won the series for me, but gotta say well done Jay, glad he won out of the remaining Finalists. Would have been happy with Georgia as well, just not Kellie, couldn't warm to her at all.

Missed Anita in final, think it would have been better with her in it but them the breaks

Well done Jay

What the jumping to their feet and starting clapping and cheering reaction that you could quite clearly see in the background when they announced the winners? Gosh, if that's meh I'd hate to see excited.

So you'd be taking out Kellie, Georgia and Helen along with Jay then?

Except up until this year it had been a 50:50 split between male and female winners. Jay's win now makes it 7 men to 6 women.

I know because I've done it. I wish her well - she's a lovely dancer, and a beauty, but a West End show is very, very hard graft and she'd better be ready for it!”

Do we know if she can sing? I'd happily watch her as Roxie in Chicago but, as you say Sofa, she'd need a massive amount of training and refining beforehand.

No it's an entertainment programme based around dancing where people are told to vote for their favourite so it should be no surprise when people do just that.

She was in ballroom hold as Tango is a ballroom dance.

Curiously the only thread about a fix involves Kevin.

Jay was an excellent dancer this Series, but if it was based on last night's performance, he was not the best last night. Not the first final where this is the case. (PS - none were my favorites, I was happy with all of them being there).

With a head cold, I went to bed after the first show, as I knew I would just watch it now in the morning. The second show and their dance favourites all looked decent, esp. Georgia's.

Just one simple question. Why was this Final dragged out to two and a half hours? It was tedious in the extreme, exacerbated by some awful music, as per usual and tedious stories of 'Journeys' and sickly thank you dialogues, so obviously scripted.

The whole shebang could have been wound up In 90 minutes maximum. Anyway, so endeth yet another season of SCD and I don't think I'll bother to watch any more especially if the producers persist in including so much padding to the dance routines and inappropriate dance music.

There's always going to be an inordinate amount of filler because in the first half there are eight set changes required and in the second half they need time to count the votes.

Do you know Kev? You could not be more wrong about Kevin Clifton one thing he is not is smug or conceited.

If the Cliftons were mediocre dancers and kept on the show regardless would maybe agree with you BUT two of them are British (we need more home grown dancers needed) one a World Champ the other European and British Champ and Karen was a champion herself in her field to loose any would imo be a loss to the show. Without them what on earth would this place do without someone to throw their venom at

If it were one person one vote he'd still have own, he is that popular.

The Daily Record (and probably Mirror) is getting its knickers in a twist this morning!

Quote:
“While dancing the rumba for the second time this series - as requested by the judges - to Sam Smith's The Writing's On the Wall , the Coronation Street beauty accidentally exposed her knickers.”

Sounds like a desparate attempt to make a story out of nothing.

What morons.
At some point this season I think I've seen all the female dancers undergarments.
