I wouldn't have minded Anita in the final, but Gleb blew it for them. I can't honestly blame anyone else for that. I wanted the judges follow the rules and base their decision in the DO on the dance that night and not previous performances, and I can't balk now when they did exactly that. (Well, except for Craig.) They picked the dance that was an improvement and that was actually recognizable as the dance style the couple was given. I can't really argue that logic.
Gleb gambled and came up snake eyes. It happens. |

No way

Well, if you have three ringers, someone has to make up the numbers.
Helen and Katie AIUI had some ballet background, but nowhere in the league of Kellie, J and G. And frankly it is unfair to expect those without extensi ve dance training to produce dances to the same level as those that have. And worse to criticise them for it. All of which said, Katie absolutely *should* have been in the final because she beat Anita fair and square in the dance-off. |

It was all done for Anton. Plus Len is a stickler for the rules and Gleb didnt follow that.
Anita was by far a better dancer, pity she got Gleb |

I doubt Katie was in any doubt about her dance abilities or her chances of winning but I actually thought the comments from the judges where pretty mean spirited and bizarre considering it was them who put her there.
I said this in relation to the whole Peter Andre thing but if they want to consider a contestants full abilities or how they've previously danced when in the dance off that's fine as long as they say it. The oversteer after Andre-gate of making it just about the dance off has led to Katie being there when she shouldn't be...but hey ho Anton got to the final at last. |

Beat Anita fair and square - what planet do you come from ?
Please see other umpteen threads/posts where people explain this to the hard of losing.

"Katie wasn't final standard" / "she didn't come with the right skill set" etc
Strictly really is turning into a show for the stage school trained and polished, no room for anybody else ![]() Of course Katie deserved to be there. And I'd have had Anita there too. Some of us do still enjoy watching the ones with little or no experience taking part and going all the way to the finals - even if they aren't quite as good as the already accomplished ones. Katie's Quickstep, for example, wasn't as well executed as Jay's but I was much more into hers than his. Likewise, whatever Showdance Anita and Gleb had come up with, I can guarantee I'd have enjoyed it more than Jay and Georgia's whose I found proficient but deadly dull. |

The show dances were so underwhelming but I suspect Anita and her partner would have come up with something a little more risky.

Katie and Anton were never finalist quality and should have gone a few weeks ago,but the judges did overmark them ,think they wanted to see Anton in the final, but when you see a superb dancer like Helen go and they're still there, you question their manipulation, they weren't the only ones overmarked Jay and Aliona were too

I can't believe people are still harping on about Katie and Anton making the final. I'm not saying they were as good tonight as the other three couples, but they were not dreadful. Who knows if another couple would have been better than them? Lots of people were disappointed by Jay and Aliona tonight and we saw a great couple give an unexpected performance. It can happen to anyone.
And Katie and Anton did get there fair and square. If the result of last week's dance off had been the other way around, we would have been back in the same situation we had with Jamelia and Peter. Gleb blew it. We're not talking an 'Austen was robbed' situation here. |

I never liked Katie, didn't think she was a great dancer. Anita was a better gymnast but an equally poor dancer. Im glad Anton had a decent year though. Maybe he'll now move on, I can't stand him!!

Neither Anita nor Katie should have got there - Helen should have.

On dancing ability Helen should have been in the final.
Under the rules of the show Katie was rightly there. |

I watched the final with a friend who lives abroad and has never seen any of the contestants dance. She noticed that Katie was out of step, wooden and not up to the standard of the others - without any prompting from me.
Anita or Helen should have been in the final not Katie. It's a shame we didn't see such a final - it would have been truly spectacular. |

Katie was injured, though, with a painful rib, so was worse than usual.

I would have been happy with that. Kellie was really boring IMO. Katie like your friend pointed out was wooden. Should have been Jay, Georgia, Helen and Anita.
Kellie and Kevin absolutely merited being in the final. Kellie had improved enormously as we saw in her first dance. She wasn't my cup of tea, but the last couple of weeks she'd been absolutely amazing. Her Viennese Waltz was sheer genius on Kevin's part. Like her or loath her, she was in a whole different league from Anita. |

Well, I disagree. I don't like to say anything critical about any of them when they all tried so hard, but to be honest, Anita was very mechanical and technical, but had no real connection with the music, and as a result all her dances had the same sort of feel. Katie was a beginner too, but she captured the style and mood of each dance far more successfully. The judges were sometimes far too critical of her early performances, and it made her extremely nervous. Despite the mistakes, she was a beautiful dancer. Her dances were chock-full of content, unlike Anita's, and obviously with more dance-steps performed so very quickly, it's very easy to go wrong. Anita was proficient, it's true, but she did not merit staying in after Helen had gone out. It's a knock-out competition and Anita didn't win enough votes to stay out of the dance-off, and then she performed her poorer dance with mistakes, while Katie improved in her performance of a far more stylistically appropriate dance.

Apparently Katiie shouldn't have been in the final cos she was rubbish at Latin, Kellie shouldn't have been in the final becuase she was loud and gurny, Jay shouldn't have been in the final as he went straight from kindergarten to Ballet Rambert, and Georgia shouldn't have been in the final cos... dunno... she has fake boobs and comes from The North

I think she did deserve her place in the final and did well under the circumstances and injury she had
