Will we remember Jay's showdance as another puppetgate?

I'm a big Jay fan, but I think that his dance might have been technically very difficult changing dance styles so quickly, it did lack the SHOW element.

It was a brilliant audition dance but was it a showdance?

By Puppetgate, I mean will it be remembered as the dance that cost him the Glitterball?

I doubt I'll remember it at all.

Agreed Arcana - it's too forgettable to be another puppet gate, or bacofoil!

Real let down all night for Jay. This is exactly why he needed to play his jive as the ace now. Is the paso going to do that?

Still think he's won.

I loved it! It was a Jay-style showdance, it summarised what he is and what he does well to me. Very happy with that!

Personally I liked being able to recognise bits from the dances he's done

'Bits' do not make a show dance. There was no narrative, no passion and it was flat

Not as good as Kellies, but preferred it to G & G.

Oh Aliona! What have you done? Jay's dancing is faultless, and he looked to be really enjoying himself, but there was no wow factor to that dance.

I enjoyed it, but it wasn't the spectacular show dance I was expecting. The judges comments were spot-on in my opinion. Bit of a let-down really.

Don't get me wrong- I liked it and think it had the most difficult content but it won't catch the votes of those that like a lot of pizzazz and only vote when it comes to the final.

A great disappointment - they could have had much more drama and pizzazz. And no chance to showcase Jay's great "armography"!

I agree with Craig's comment - 'it was a cop-out'.
Very underwhelming - puppet-gate did spring to mind.
They may have blown it - with that dull show-dance which wasn't a show-dance plus their inexplicable and perverse decision not to do their Jive. Their decisions have a touch of arrogance which could well be their downfall.

I think he danced it beautifully, and actually hated hated hated the upside down bit at the beginning which seems to be the only thing the judges liked!!!! It was a "nice" dance though, with no punch.

it did lack 'show'. started great, with the spider man hanging pose, but afterwards could have been any of their dances - in fact it was!

I liked it - watched back it was faultless. They were prepared for people not to like it but they should remain proud. Come on the people of Nottingham, get voting like never before !

It's funny how some years the show dances are all lifts and bluster, with no technical dance content.
This year, Jay and Aliona's was almost the opposite. Even team GG's had a lot of VW in it, which isn't a dance that I immediately think of for a show dance!

Doesn't the couples choice come too late to make a real difference to the votes? It wouldn't make a difference what the final dance is.

I honestly don't think the showdances have altered anyone chances. They were all fine and if you've been voting for Jay or Georgia or even Katie I doubt the judges comments tonightwill change anything.

That was the worst bit of it for me. I must be a bit of a dance philistine because I didn't understand it all all What did it have to do with the dance?

To be honest, the showdances that involved a lot of being chucked around with a cartwheel at the end were getting boring. A showdance showcasing dances learned like Jay's and Georgia's will always impress me more. K&K's dance was very entertaining, but no ballroom content. And K&A's was meh.

Not likely. Just another reinforcement that Jay lacks personality or any real spark inside of him.

It was beautifully danced but, he is capable of so much more. I was expecting a Natalie and Artem type showdance. Dazzling, spectacular and full of razzamatazz and I think that was also the expectation of the judges.

I don't think it will cost him like puppetgate but, all those Anita voters probably haven't transferred their votes to his routines so far tonight.
