For me, yes.
And I'm not gonna miss the patronising comments from some posters aimed at Jay fans. |

If you base a win on all 12 weeks, then surely only a ringa will ever be your winner, as they'll start out great?
I vote based on the level attained by the final, not the speed at which they get there. Not my winner this year as I prefer a performer over a technician, but a fair outcome and hats off nonetheless

Jay never showed his full potential but we'll be looking back in future series years and wondering why all the male celebs are so much worse than Jay McGuiness. When he got things right he was excellent.

Maybe but we all know Strictly is a popularity contest mostly, the best dancers hardly ever win, in this case all of them where worthy of the trophy but with such a massive fan base behind him, Jay was the favorite from Day 1....

I for one didn't have a clue who he was when this series started - and I'm sure I wasn't the only one - but what I have watched is, as has been said before, a young man who was painfully shy and insecure blossom into a confident, assured young man who is one hell of a dancer

I have to say that throughout the run when Jay danced he was the best then when Georgia danced she was my favourite overall I think Jay nicked it over the run but I absolutely adored Georgia's dancing tonight and she would have also been a worthy winner

But hey hum that's the show. It's not like there's any real prize and I'm sure Kellie and Georgia aren't going to lose much sleep over it. |

No, the two girls had zip, passion and life. He just didn't do it for me tonight. Sorry.

I like Jay and voted for him most weeks. No doubt about it, he performed the dance of the series in week three too.
Tonight I do not think he deserved to win as he wasn't the best on the night, actually he produced quite a poor final compared to the two ladies. For me they each had the two best dances of the night, Kellie with her show dance and Georgia with her Charleston. I also do not feel he fulfilled his potential, there was so much more there, untapped, that could have meant every week he could have been producing big wow numbers. He seemed to shy away from being great, it's right there even in the final, refusing to do the jive, shying away from taking on the moment to excel in a way. I like him though, he is a nice dancer, could be so much greater though, and I think he seems like a nice guy too. Well done to him and his fanbase, who I imagine are over the moon right now. I did swap my votes over to Kellie tonight as I just felt they deserved it today. |

agree with this, i think there was more, and its frustrating that he didn't really find that level of form / connection. his shyness seemed to be almost debilitating at times and i think it got in the way of him really relaxing into what he was capable of most of the time.

Of course they are worthy champions.
The show dance score was a matter of TASTE, not how well they were danced, and Jay danced that beautifully. His QS was very tricky, and scored the same as GG, a week one Tango is far easier to 'perfect'. Jay's Paso was awesome, and one pt behind the others, which is nothing, and much harder and more technical than the Charlestons. I don't know where 'Oh Kellie and Georgia so much better' really comes from. They weren't AT ALL. It was a bloody CLOSE final, and Jay or any of them are creditable winners. Jay isn't some duffer, he's a FANTASTIC, beautiful dancer, with great musicality and natural grace. And he won my vote BECAUSE of that, I overwhelmingly support the 'good dancers'. |

A bit like Jake Wood from last year - one amazing dance early on that he never outshone. I don't look on Jay as a bad winner but one who never quite met his full potential (whereas I feel Kellie and Georgia did tonight). |

Jay and Aliona have won despite being given the worst slot in the final.
Despite not dancing any of their best three dances in the final. Despite the judges never giving them a perfect score. They have been worthy champions because of the way Aliona has taught Jay the technicalities of each dance. Because of the emotion they have expressed in each dance with their whole partnership. Because of the joy Jay has for dancing. Because they are truly an amazing dance couple who are so in sync with each other and have loved the Strictly experience. |

Heartily agree with you rhumbatugger, although Kellie's tango was far from perfect imo. I can't say any of the showdances were what I would call showdances but as far as his they were danced even the judges agreed Jay was flawless so down to Aliona choreography.

Yes - they may not have danced the best this evening, but they have been the standout couple of the series hands down.

I do wonder what goes through the minds of the higher scoring females in a final like this (or such as DVO v Kimberley v Looiss) when they get nice comments from the judges and then the voters basically say,"we prefer the pet guy".

Jay. Louis. Harry. There's a pattern in there somewhere. I think he didn't win because of his dancing, because he wasn't the best tonight. I think it was people fangirling him and Aliona, when it is obvious that nothing is going to come from it.
