No matter how you feel about Jay or Kellie can you look back to Jay's jive and say that it is worse than Kellie's as judging by today's scores it is.
If anything, Kellie's 40 was because Jay was overmarked in the first place! |

But that's not how things have ever worked on a show. The only comparison that matters is the one on the night. There have been many dances that haven't got 40 that deserved it in comparison to ones that did. But you can't compare things that way - the judges gave Jay's quickstep a certain mark, Kellie came out and did a better dance than that so to be fair they had to mark it higher which meant giving it 10s.
If anything, Kellie's 40 was because Jay was overmarked in the first place! |

Jay wins -I'm ecstatic!!!!! The best dancer, with the best pro, dancing consistently the best over the whole series has won, all is right in the world.
Any other result would have been travesty. |

I am very pleased they won. The bigging up and over marking of Kellie and Georgia was sickening.

Tonight Jay was mediocre by his high standards in all three dances. Kellie and Georgia blew him away. Kellie isn't doing the tour as others have said.
So based on tonights result, it was horny housewives doing most of the voting ? Anyway how do you know it was horny housewives doing all the voting. ![]() What a ridiculous comment to make. |

I'm not disappointed that Jay won, he's been brilliant (although my votes went to Georgia tonight) but I'm disappointed with his performances tonight.

Over the series he was the most consistent and has had the best technique. He was so so nervous tonight. They affected him more than anyone else, plus the showdance didn't go down well but they were the best over the series. Their waltz, jive, paso, salsa, tango, rumba, Charleston are all so memorable. I was a huge fan of Kara and even she didn't have as many memorable dances. He was the viewer's choice and he deserved this.

I was thrilled. His are the dances I always want to watch again, and he had such great chemistry with Aliona.

Jay and Aliona were the highest scoring couple of the Series when the judges scores counted. ie. excluding the final.

All three brilliant in the final and as a talent contest high value entertainment
One item surprising in absence from comments is the added difficulty in being the only man in the final It is extremely different to learn how to lead as opposed to being led and Jay was an exceptional performer in demonstrating ability to lead Top class final well done all three |

I watched it back on iPlayer and i now think it's EVEN MORE ridiculous that he won after those two stormed it on every dance tonight.

It is disappointing that Jay won tonight ,simply because it's been a great series...but the showdance was so lacklustre,Kelly and Georgia were streets ahead...for me I voted for Kelly,so much energy and I like Kevin's originality, but if Georgia had won I could have applauded...sadly the boyband vote again,he wasn't up to it on the night

Go easy on the apostrophes...and ask Monkseal, the ratio of female to male winners over the SCD series is 50:50
He had a weak night tonight. Not based on the judges comments i am always of my own opinion. He's had some good moments in the series and some bad ones. Tonight he was so and so and it was clear at the end that he shouldn't win. I had a feeling he might but once i watched the show it came clear to me it would be a ridiculous result. It just seems odd to dance with so many errors and a underwhelming showdance and win. I'm not saying it's totally a shambles as he has been good sometimes. If i had my say i would honestly say Anita had been very consistent over the series and should have been in his space tonight. If i had my choice, i'd say Georgia and Giovanni where phenomenal tonight and deserved it. Their favourite dance was outstanding and the showdance was impressive. |

I didn't have any favourite this year and didn't really mind too much who won (although I have to admit I didn't really warm to Jay) but I think it was a mistake they didn't do the Jive (or even incorporate a tonne more jive into the show dance), it would have felt like a more deserving win to me if they have done that. As much as I didn't really want him to win it would have felt fair enough with a stand out performance.

Me too, as I had a little bet on those two, but not on Kellie! I saw Aliona in Brendan's stage show last year and she's fantastic. Kellie was overmarked by the judges tonight.

I'm male, I'm 31, and I love Jay - absolutely delighted he won. Best dancer IMO. I love Georgia and Kellie too but Jay is something extra special. Not only a very gifted dancer but a guy I'd quite like to hang out in a pub and drink beer with. I think he's awesome!

The reason Jay came third tonight was because that is where the Judges wanted him.
The marking by the judges to say the least was bizarre...I would always be the first to say that the judges do not have favourites...but tonight and especially Len showed blatant favour for Kellie and Kevin. On the red button after the main show when Craig was interviewed by Zoe he stated that the best dancer did not win and that Jay won the heart and minds of the country...sorry Craig but I do believe that Jay is most probably one of the best dancers that has ever been on Strictly. I am not saying that they should get rid of the judges but there has to be a shake up in the way they have performed and marked this year.

He never really did it for me, but I think I'd have found Jay's win easier to swallow had he danced like a champion tonight. I'd have said too good and that would be that. But he didn't. And he was completely outdanced by Kellie (and to an extent Georgia) so it rankles a bit.

I liked Jay all along, but his show dance was disappointing. I felt exactly the way the judges did - a bit gobsmacked, like, was that it? Jay doesn't have any personality, he doesn't perform, so for me his win was a shock.

Also Louis Spense winning over Kimberley and Denise who ruled their seasons.
![]() And overall I disagree with you, Jay has proved to be consistently the best technically gifted male dancer this show's ever had. I only knew Max George was in The Wanted because he had a guest stint on Glee during the final series of that show, never heard of Jay McGuinness but from the moment he stepped out and danced that waltz he won my heart and my vote for his incredibly lyrical dancing and simply stunning technique. I couldn't care less if he doesn't gurn like he's projecting to the back row of a West End theatre and I find it baffling when he's described as emotionless on the dance floor to be honest. He dances with his whole body and soul as far as I'm concerned. Quote:
I think I am one of the few who loved his showdance. Sometimes less is more, yes even in a showdance. Kellie's was obviously great but did nothing for me, I didn't feel it at all, although I appreciated the effort and expertise. Georgia's was good but the way Jay moves is just heaven. The others are more hoofers, if talented ones.
It's what we used to get for showdances in the first few series' of the show until TBTB decided to start throwing the lift-tastic showdance variants at the viewers and it became a habit to just chuck your cleb around as much as possible or dance something at 150mph in a frenetic style ala Chris Hollins' Charleston. |

We should know by now that the best dancer rarely ever wins.
