i don't think they do vote for consistency, but Kellie was just as consistent as Jay.
Kellie Bright is equally unlikeable as her Butlin dancer Clifton.

Though with a photo you can only pick up one part of the dance from a certain angle.

It wasn't just the hold for me; it was the lack of staccato movements (there was some but it 'flowed' very easily at points) It just didn't sit right for me as a Tango.

I thought their effort in week one looked more Tango-esque than tonight's dance.

i don't understands how your answer relates to the other poster's comment about being in hold. Thumb or not they are in hold right? So did the original poster object to the thumb position when they wrote ballroom hold?
They were querying why there was a comment about the hold. There is a distinct difference between a ballroom tango hold & a foxtrot hold. Kellie's hand was not properly up to Kevin's back (fingers should be on his back), just tango hand shape on his arm.

As the judges marks don't count - why bother with the leaderboard in the final?
I'm that sure in the past they used to give comments and no scores for some dances in the finals?! Am I misremembering?

The obsession people have had with conspiracy theories this year is insane. Is there anyone who could have won the trophy who someone wouldn't have claimed it was ~fixed on behalf of?

Certainly overmarked considering they made a very obvious mistake.

Thanks Monaogg - was just about to come back to say that! Plus Kellie was more vase-shaped in hold rather than upright.

The ballroom Tango hold is different to the Ballroom Waltz/Foxtrot/QS hold. Their hold was nearer the latter.

Normally in BTango the womans thumb is tucked into the mans armpit and the mans hand is slightly further round the womans back.
So.... still danced in hold then.

Thanks for clarifying.

I quite agree. It's just ridiculous.

A ballroom hold is not upright. I feel like I'm in George Orwell's 1984. What you and Monaogg write makes little sense but I shall seek my sense from those who dance the tango. Goodnight.
No it's not. Where did we say that?

Here's a professional Tango from an earlier series:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnIu3DQahWI&=

In the forward movements the female dancer is more upright; on the spins they are slightly more vase-shaped but not the extent Kellie was tonight.

I've asked the question on the ballroom/latin dancer thread because the accusations seem bizarre to say the least.

The judges have been doing this long enough to know that their opinion is not going to sway the public, in fact it can often have the opposite effect i.e "OMG he criticised my favourite, how dare s/he!" *picks up phone stomps feet* "I'll show them!" type thing.

I don't get why people think the judges giving their option is bias, it's ridiculous.
Thank you! It genuinely bemuses me that people don't think the judges can figure out anything we can about popularity and voting patterns etc - they've been doing this show for 13 series now!

did the judges think that if they said K&K should win enough times that viewers at home would believe them

(and they did say they should win by marking them perfect and by their comments)

I am fed up of the Clifton cheerleaders.........thought that it wasn't particularly tonight all the whooping and "10's" that they were shouting from the Clauditorium.

We know there are a raft of Cliftons but surely this was offputting to other contestants in the Final, probably a more nerve racking week than usual!

I've decided to become a Clifton cheerleader. I'm going to get a big badge and some spangly pom-poms all of my own!

I'm going to be completely insufferable next series!

Hang on Leicester_Hunk, if you agree that Kellie "WAS" the best 'on the night' then what was manipulative about the judges giving her the best marks on the night ?
Because it depends on whether you should judge on the night or the competition overall. I think the latter. But that's just me. Just think they would have liked our man in Grimsby to win it.

No.

Unless they've not been paying attention for the past 12 years.

That was my point. Should they have because of their performance tonight or were they the best throughout the show from start to finish? The public said that was Jay.

No, its because he loves himself and i dont care where he is from. The boy has no humility and gets far too much coverage
He has as much humility as any of the other coaches.. And as for "too much coverage" - what do you mean by that?

Can you not see that he is sending himself up? It's all very tongue in cheek.

I don't think people really 'get' Kevin TBH.

As the judges marks don't count - why bother with the leaderboard in the final?

By this stage of the competition, I think most viewers can predict what the judges will say to any of the couples, and I for one didn't appreciate the hatchet job they gave poor Katie this evening (and indeed all the way through the series).

All of the first round dances were pretty much of a muchness - and none of them deserved 40 - especially the tango (Jay was frequently criticised for lack of facial expression - but K&K had waaaaay too much facial expression for a tango). Showdances were all a bit Meh! And as far as the battle of the Charlestons was concerned - G&G won that hands down, but Jays paso was fabulous!

I don't hate Kevin, but I don't particularly like him - he's too cheesy and OTT for my taste, and I'm tired of the "from Grimsby" nonsense. I think that he over dances everything and he can overshadow his celeb at times - and not only to mask their faults!
I agree, well said.
It amazed me that the judges after criticising Kevin & Kellies charleston previously in the series, for having too much side by side content and other remarks, then suddenly tonight decided it was absolutely wonderful? Very strange marking from them as viewers can, and do remember what has been said in other weeks.
