By next September, no one will remember that Jay won. He'll have disappeared.

Within a few years, Georgia will be on Broadway, winning Tony awards.”

She really wont, if you have seen her in coronation street you would know that she cannot act for toffee, though I will agree that she can certainly sell a dance.

She was excellent doing Nancy out of Oliver, and if she can sing, she'll get similar roles offered to her on the stage. I was shocked that Jay won, he didn't seem to try tonight, I really thought he'd blown it.”

Based solely on the three dances on the final night, it was clear to me and to most people with whom I've discussed it that either Kellie or Georgia would lift the trophy, no question. I was shocked at the final result and I think the judges would have been too.

It makes you wonder if the voting public had been watching properly .. how could they not have been swayed by the beautiful routines of the two girls. Jay's dances were undoubtedly good, but the girls danced better on the night.

Georgia had already won my heart when she danced the Charleston the first time weeks ago. Last night was beautiful and poignant and I wish her well in the future.

While I think Broadway may be a long shot, I definitely wouldn't rule out a theatre career for her based on her ability to sell all of her dances and pull off convincing chemistry with Giovanni over such a short period of time. Soap opera acting is hardly the benchmark for acting gold and I think most of the actors on Corrie are 'phoning it in' half the time as the episode turnaround is so tight

Point being, her acting on Corrie is not to be compared to live performances where I'm sure she'd excel now she's learned so much

Well she must have improved no end over the last three months because her acting in all three dances last night was superb .

While I agree with a lot of your comments, I'm surprised you were shocked at the result...where have you been hiding? Jay was going to win it from about week 4..the rest were just competing to be runner ups. Dances on the night were not going to matter this year.

Comparing soap opera acting to theatre acting is like comparing apples and oranges.

Surely its still a more valid comparison than the people on here thinking she will have a great stage career based on the fact that they think she acted her dances well, when that didn't even involve speaking

She can perform really well. She has promise in that. And she wasn't bad at Corrie, compared to the silly material she got.

She can certainly perform a dance well yes, but she cannot act and I do not think she can sing either. She really was bad in Corrie which is why she is no longer there.

I don't know exactly what it is but she has no presence, no gravitas......no power to her voice either. She just sounds like a little girl. I like her btw and she was my 2nd fav after Jay but really imo she has no talent other than being able to dance to a good degree.

Are there roles for people who can act a bit on TV, learn a few short dances and not necessarily sing?
Hard to think of any.

hi BeeBumble lovely to read so many positive comments about Georgia and I'm so pleased for her, Team GG were the perfect partnership, imo

yes, I agree with this, she was the winner for me and I'd never heard of her before Strictly as I don't watch Coronation Street

Her character in Coronation Street was awful - but it had nothing to do with her.

Brought in a 16 year old who had a bad tempered father, made her pregnant by the most boring character the show has, and once pregnant she was never to be seen again until the baby was popping out, where she was hastily placed in the background once again.

The only time she got any material was moaning about being skint, then, as always with soap writers, they made her have an affair because they couldn't think of anything else, before writing her out.

She was never given a fair chance on the show, and also, you have so many time restraints in soaps. In almost everything else, you get weeks to study your character and your lines and how you're going to play it, and a thousand re-takes.

I wouldn't write her off just yet... She's proved she's a hard worker and a fast learner, so no doubt she can do it if she wants to.

Yes I know her charachter in Corrie having watched it religously since the 60's. She. had the part that her abilities deserved imo.And she also had the same time restraints that all other soap actors have.
Sorry but she was just not able enough to do anything with the part they gave her and I can only surmise that she did not live up to the promise that she must have shown in audition. Her acting and presense were woeful and though I say this I hope she does find something that suits because she is a lovely girl.

Why does other actors having the same amount of time mean anything?

We all learn different ways, we all learn at different paces. Just because one may not be good at knocking out scene after scene all day long, doesn't mean they won't be able to act in a different environment where they allow you time to learn.

Personally, I liked Katy and didn't think Georgia was a bad actress at all. She was never given a chance. Is she up there with the best Corrie actors? Of course not, but she certainly was no where near the worst (granted, that doesn't mean much considering the dire standards of acting ability in Corrie recently).

Her presence on Strictly lacked at the start of the series - the majority on this forum called her boring, bland, forgettable, stated she'll be the first 'contender' out, but she upped her game and never looked back. No reason she can't do that in the acting world.

Well I wish her luck anyhow, I just do not see her being anything other than a RTV persona now.

I don't get that vibe at all. It's pretty clear she wants to act, and it seems from her reactions on a few occasions throughout the series, that she doesn't/didn't really have the confidence or belief in herself that she could be a successful actress away from Corrie.

It was clear after Bruno's comment after her first Charleston that what he said meant a lot re. her growing as a perfomer, and from her reaction last night to Craig, maybe it will give her the confidence to believe in herself and she can continue making a living through her dream of acting rather than becoming one of those famous for being famous types.

I hope so anyway

I'm shocked that some people are shocked at who won.

What is a Jay Stan If you mean Jay supporter then yes I am. I have also supported both Georgia and Anita too but I like to deal in reality and imo Georgia although a lovely and very beautiful girl has no talent or future in acting or musical theatre. All I can see her doing (other than a few low key parts in CRH low key productions) is RTV. It is just an opinion based on having seen her woeful attempts at acting in Corrie...............actually woeful is putting it kindly.

The funny thing is I read an article somewhere that after the tour Jay is going job hunting and is interesting in theatre, not going back to making music. I hope it was a comedy/satire article as watching a piece of wood attempting to act can only be that.

Jay is a brilliant dancer and seems a lovely bloke though.
