Of course, views on acting are always subjective.
Don't watch Coronation Street so can't comment on that but from what I've seen of her on Strictly, I really do beg to differ that she has "no talent" in acting. She's been one of the best performers I think we've had on Strictly and I'm certain she has a very big future in acting ahead of her.

Oh I loved Jill but I would not put her in the same league as Jay.

You're right, she's in a better league because she can reproduce her greatest dance.

There is a world of difference between emoting a dance performance and acting, her previous acting thus far has been awful. As I have said she has no presence when in front of the camera and just comes across badly. What we have seen on strictly is Georgia the person...she comes across lovely but it is different to having to act a part which is not her.

And you are a renowned acting coach and expert, yes?

LOL!
Comedy article indeed!

I have no doubt than Jay can also reproduce his Jive to the same standard too. Imo Jills Jive was ace and the best so far until Jay came along and blew it away.It is subjective though and I respect your opinion...it's just not mine nor the many who have rewatched it hundreds of times over.

That's your opinion and of course different people look for different things in actors. One things Strictly will have done is enhanced her performance skills considerably, she's only 24 and has got a long (and I'm sure successful) career ahead of her.

No but I am an expert viewer, Georgia is no longer in Corrie because she could not act convincingly, and it's not like they require Bafta winning actors.

I do think Jay's jive was better as a one-off as well, I just won't call it anything more than a one hit wonder because whether he can reproduce it or not is pure conjecture - none of us know. In that sense Jill is a better jive dancer for me because she could reproduce it.

Incidentally I don't think YouTube viewing figures indicate which early series dance is better or worse than the dances now. SCD was a much smaller show those days and the BBC didn't even put official videos of every dance up. As an example of how much smaller a show it was, I turned up to queue for the final the year Mark Ramprakash won at about 2:30pm and still got a front row seat! These days you have to queue overnight even for the early shows, so can't imagine what I did happening in the final show now!

Most people have only watched Jill's jive on replay and it just doesn't have the same impact.

Serious question. What productions is Craig involved in? Are they musicals or more 'Burn the Floor' type shows? I know he did something involving Lisa Riley one year but know nothing other than that! Is he still in charge of the Strictly tour?

Surely they have a lot of people come and go in Corrie ... Georgia wouldn't have been employed in the first place if she couldn't act convincingly?

Well, there might be a role for him in 'Jack & the Beanstalk' (not the lead part obviously...)

Yes lot's of them come and go, but she was diobolical, maybe Georgia can find a part that she could play herself in....................she would be fine then.

It was a nice comment, but he's not exactly Andrew Lloyd Webber, is he ? (As Claudia hinted)

Care to provide evidence? A published article in the press stating "Georgia May Foote was sacked from Corrie due to bad acting skills" should suffice, thanks. Otherwise, I'll take that as speculation and wishful thinking of your part.

Very accurate post, agree on all points.

Why don't you take your negative rubbish somewhere else this was a positive thread until you started your negative bile.

Congratulations, Pices, for taking Craig's surprising and moving comment to Georgia and shitting on it. Did you hear the news? Jay won. From the sour faces and behaviour of some of his supporters (a tiny minority), you would never guess.

Utterly graceless

I took the playfully mischievous hint to imply that his shows were of an *ahem* "adult nature

That is a horrible thing to say. She was given a dreadful script. She wasn't exactly given an exciting part. Stuart Blackburn ruined her part in Corrie IMO. I though the acting in her dancing was really good. Much prefer her to Kellie Bright. And Georgia is gracious and polite.

I suspect they would have her back in a Heartbeat. There are some awful Actors on that show now.

There are hundreds of dancers appearing in shows across the country, all of them having spent years learning their craft. They are professionals and expert in their roles. I wouldn't pay £50 - £60 to see a show that has a pretty girl leading simply because of her Strictly exposure. No matter how good they may look, remember that until the SF they spend a whole week (at least 30 hours training time) learning a carefully choreographed routine tailored to their strength (& weaknesses) for a 60 - 90 second spot.

For many of us who watched the finals on Saturday the result certainly was a shock, as both Georgia and Kellie clearly outdanced Jay on the night.

Either of the girls would have been a worthy winner, but in my view the actual result was somewhat of an anti-climax. I actually switched over as soon as the result was announced in a vain attempt to find something to raise my spirits before bedtime!

I never watched corrie. From what I have seen on Strictly, I think she is a very good actress.

Oh, please. She wasn't axed for any sort of crime against acting, but because the character was largely ignored and with her parents leaving, it was the perfect opportunity to get rid of her, too.

Georgia was completely neglected on Corrie, but to argue she was neglected and axed because she can't act is ridiculous when you have the likes of Fiz shoved down our throats every night, being treated as one half of some sort of golden couple.

Half of the cast would be gone if they axed characters based on the actors acting ability.

No!! In your opinion the girls out danced Jay but the majority thought otherwise. Especially as an over all performance! Even the accumulative scores said so. Jay was tied with Kellie but you'd be lucky to find anyone who didn't think Jay's jive was worth a perfect score. The judges had no fault to find.
