leaves me cold.
I've never taken to her - and I've tried but I still remember the comment made to her in her first series, something along the lines of 'you're meant to showcase your partner, not yourself'

Things don't seem to have changed, I don't understand why she's given good celebs - enough to win twice.
If she was to leave I certainly wouldn't miss her.
What is it about her can anyone tell me?

I can't warm to her either, and her comments on it takes two about Jay being her favourite partner was a bit mean what about Harry or Matt she didn't have to say that

Oh get over yourself. She's just honest and not into gushing and gurning.

I like Aliona and I also rate her teaching and her choreography very highly.

However, her interactions with Jay made for very uncomfortable viewing at times. I don't believe anything improper has taken place - but I found all the "pawing" very off-putting. It went a little beyond normal affectionate reassurance sometimes.

Ha ha. Great reply LukaForever.

I don't think anything has happened yet either - too much unrealised sexual tension in those looks they share.

Just wait until the tour.

Well, I'm not really interested in gossip - unsubstantiated or not - I just really don't like seeing people pawing each other like that. They're not a pair of 17 year olds and they're on camera in front of millions, so there's really no need for all that.

The "pawing" that I referred to in the previous sentence.

Aliona's partners...

Rav, Matt, Harry, Johnny (injury so replaced), Tony (replacing injured), Gregg, Jay.

So 7 celebs, 3 clear duffers, 3 decent options, 1 not obvious. (Johnny not actually)

The duffers went as expected but with some fun. Rav was disappointing.

From her 3 good options, 2 wins and a strong runner-up.

That suggests she is a good teacher and choreographer (and dancer obviously). Others have had good prospects too but with less success. Most have had a few good options among the mix.

Aliona is clearly the Queen of Strictly!

I have ALWAYS felt exactly the same about her.

I don't hate her but your description "leaves me cold" is the identical effect she has always had on me.

Re partners, like other pros, I think its fair for her to have a mix of contenders and duffers. She has actually had three contenders, one expected contender (who turned out to be a duffer - yes, you Rav) and three total duffers, one of whom she escaped through injury - so she has not had it so bad...far far better than Ola & Iveta anyway.

Her choreography is also overrated IMO - Kristina, for one, kicks her right into touch from where I'm standing.

When I heard she was leaving a few years back, I felt totally indifferent to the fact. When she was suddenly asked back, I was less than overwhelmed.

Like you, though I feel this way, I cannot put my finger on as to why. I just know she does less for me than any other female pro - even Ola who I can, at least, happily cast my eye over for other reasons than her dancing...

True - pawing and almost licking is more her style.

She's pretty adept at eye-rolling and pouting too.

She's won twice when partnered with young men a lot of female viewes decided were crumpet of the series. I don't mean that she's not a good teacher and dancer - just that the annual male crumpet usually has a very good chance of winning. I wouldn't notice if she left either.

I don't particularly like Jay winning, but I don't get the Aliona hate! i love her <3

Seriously, why do people go all out to hate ether certain celebs or pros?

I wouldn't say the OP is all out hate. A bit extreme.

The way one sees somebody is not strictly (excuse the pun) love or hate. Those are two extremes. There IS a grey area you know....

I don't "hate" Aliona - for a start, I don't know her from Adam.

However, the fact remains that she leaves me cold...and ALWAYS has. I have tried to like her (particularly this series) but I just cannot warm to her. As Rhona Cameron (whatever happened to her??) said many years ago on Series 1 of IACGMOOH:"Sometimes, it's just like that".

I may be wrong but I think most of the professionals really really tried hard. Jay was right to recognise that the award is more for the professional than the celebrity.

I personally think she is the best dancer on there and is absolutely gorgeous.
I can't take my eyes off of her when she is dancing, and have been like that since she first appeared.
Having said that, it's a shame Oti went out so early this year.
She is another that is absolutely stunning and I want to see more of her next season.

Thank you Nina_Blake!
I don't hate anyone, as I said she leaves me cold. I was just stating my opinion.
I don't understand how anyone can pour out hatred to someone they don't know.
I'm hoping that next season we see some more new blood to bring even more excitement to the floor!

I'm sure the attractive, fit (in a healthy sense), gorgeous figured, married to a multi-millionaire and likely to live a life we can only dream of, Aliona, could not give a flying fig what you or anyone she doesn't personally know, think of her.

As a dancer she's marvelous. And I like her dry, non-gushy personality. Sometimes she does seem above it all, but maybe she is above it all.
