Well, it's obviously subjective! I adore Aliona, her dancing and choreography.

Let's remember that there have been other boyband members form arguably more famous bands that haven't won.
I do think that Aliona is the best female pro with contenders, while Natalie is the best one with middle ones and duffers. Kristina has had her contenders too, just she hasn't done that well with them.
I love that Aliona is not your typical ballroom and Latin dancer.

Agreed.

I think Aliona is one class act.

Things don't seem to have changed, I don't understand why she's given good celebs - enough to win twice.
If she was to leave I certainly wouldn't miss her.
What is it about her can anyone tell me?”

If you're happy - stick with what you've got.

Boybanders always win?

Conveniently forgetting Simon Webbe just 12 months ago, and from a band I'd actually heard of too!

The duffers went as expected but with some fun. Rav was disappointing.

From her 3 good options, 2 wins and a strong runner-up.

That suggests she is a good teacher and choreographer (and dancer obviously). Others have had good prospects too but with less success. Most have had a few good options among the mix.

Aliona is clearly the Queen of Strictly! ”

100% agree

Having said that, it's a shame Oti went out so early this year.
She is another that is absolutely stunning and I want to see more of her next season.”

I have the feeling she will go out on a high and won't be back

She was ahead of the times when she started on SCD, Len especially disliking her choreography ( no change there then after his ridiculous comments last night) she was the best choreographer then and still is now.

Who was he dancing with again ?

This is clearly butt hurt from last night. Aliona is a wonderful and beautiful dancer and talented choreographer who has helped Jay (and previously Harry) transform into champions.

Yes, unfortunately I don't think she will be back. Though I would also not be surprised if she was back. She seems to do always what it is not expected.

And also compared to male pros like Pasha (3 out of 4), Alijaz (2 out of 3) and Kevin (3 out of 3), her ratio of contenders has been lower (3 out of 7).

Think it was the one who didn't win with Jason Donovan either

2 years ago Brendan's partner for his Licence to Thrill show injured herself & Aliona stepped in for the whole tour. In the cheap seats up in the Gods in Manchester there wasn't seat to be had. This year he was with his usual partner and there were 30 - 40 of us spread out up in the gallery. Given that the audience was 75% female it suggests Aliona's appeal goes well beyond her stunning beauty.

We went 2 years ago because of Aliona. It was an amazing show. TBF we went last year and still enjoyed it, but it wasn't quite as good without Aliona.

It took me a while to 'get' Aliona. I thought she was cold, aloof and moody. But she isn't. She's a bit shy that's all. And probably the best teacher and choreographer. She recognizes strengths and weaknesses and plans her dances accordingly. There are a couple of male pros who could learn from this. They seem to use their partners just to show off their (the pro) dance ability

I think she's fabulous.

The boyband argument is rubbish as Aliona so far is the only pro to win with a boybander.

She's challenged Jay with tricky choreography, she's a fantastic choreographer and a beautiful dancer and I can't think of a pro more deserving to get a second win.

She puts absolutely everything into it.

Aliona is really good to watch, she dances beautifully and has the perfect figure for all the Latin stuff.

Whenever I watched the Jay & Aliona routines I could barely take my eyes off her, which is probably why I didn't 'get' the hysterical support for Jay - he was after all just the bloke that Aliona danced with! She made him look better than he was and so of course he eventually won, in spite of the girls dancing better ON THE NIGHT.

Crumpet? Have I wandered into a 70s Carry On thread?

I like her choreography and her quiet manner. She is one of my favourite female pros. I also think she is quite shy which is why she doesn't always get her point across well when being interviewed. I think she and Jay are very similar in that respect hence why they get on so well.

I would miss her.

Completely agree with that summation.

i think Aliona is quite a reserved person, not exactly shy but quiet and naturally introverted, she has to appear outgoing and extrovert and she tries because that is her job, maybe that's why some ppl can't take to her

i was lucky enough to see her with Brendon at the Liverpool Empire and it really was a fantastic show, whether you like Aliona or not you can't deny she is an incredible dancer

such a shame Simon didn't win, anyway, I've met Aliona and she was very friendly, loved her hip hop samba with Matthew

She's a gorgeous dancer, an excellent teacher, and I think the way she's coped with Jay's highs and lows with such kindness this year has been very touching to watch. When you think of all the different skills that are required of a Strictly dancer, they are all amazing, and Aliona in particular shines for me.

She's been my favourite female pro since she was paired with Matt Baker. I think she's an amazing dancer and wonderful choreographer. She does everything that's best for her pro, showcasing their talents in the best way possible.

So thrilled for her that she is the first pro to win twice.

She is an amazing dancer and choreographer. From the posts I have seen on this forum she is like marmite and I really don't understand why...........but there is a reason why she is the only pro to have won the glitterball twice.........

She has been my favourite ever since her first year with Rav Wilding and for the above reasons she fully deserves to be the first Pro to win twice.

She is indeed ...I have to be honest, I had my doubts about their showdance appealing to the 'masses' last night. Even though beautifully danced, there wasn't that 'wow' factor that kevin put into his lindy hop thing. When the judges rounded on ali (it was she they were taking pot shots at, plus they must have though dropping the jive was an ego trip by both of them) I feared the worst......thankfully the GBP pulled them through!!

ps.....on red button later ali thanked the GBP for their 'time and money spent' in voting for them......also referencing the other 3couples.

I haven't posted on here for ages but had to once I saw this thread.

I don't like being negative but Aliona leaves me cold too. There is just something a miss when she doesn't get a decent partner. Her routine with Greg Wallace was so laughable I honestly think she didn't bother to fully teach him the routine. I think she displays a poor attitude when she doesn't get a good partner..

I also don't get the 'She doesn't get decent partners' argument. Winning twice would contradict that and I'd argue that in both the years she has won, and the year she got to the final with Matt Baker, she had the best male partner for that year, Matt was better than Scott Maslen and the next best male was Gavin Henson!!!!! Harry was better than Jason Donovan and the next best male was Robbie Savage!!!!!!

Gonna be interesting to see who she gets next year - if she stays.
