Can I get an answer from the mods or anybody in the know.

Why is it you cannot have a thread here about romances in SCD and the curse etc, but elsewhere in the forum, such as the showbiz section, you have pretty much only speculation, including about celebs sexuality, who they have had affairs with and everything.

Seems a strange double standard from the forum.

Interesting point I hope we get a statement from the mods.

It's because forums members are trigger happy with the alert button to "protect" their favourites. In the showbiz forum you don't get mad fanatic fans.

Presumably because the threads are reported here

i would presume at least one person has reported the in the closet thread though.

I just find it really strange how it is what the forum thrives on it elsewhere, but suddenly on SCD it's against the rules.

The SCD forum has always been a law unto itself. There are more "morality" enforcers here than elsewhere.

I don't think it's needed here. It's crass and tabloid and gross. Glad to see the threads were closed.

I'm glad you posted this. This is the only British forum I frequent and I had decided that British people must just be more puritanical than others - but it sounds like it's something specific to Strictly

That being said, I think I've spent too much time on the likes of 4chan, Datalounge, and reddit to be a good judge ahemmm. And I might be breaking a rule even mentioning other forums

No - I don't mean that. I mean getting more upset with any kind of controversial suggestions, such as affairs, possible racist voting patterns, sexual orientation, that sort of thing. I feel like it's extremely easy to get people very upset - when it's the typical prattle on the other boards I use.

TBH I don't frequent the Showbiz forum but I've only seen this kind of policing (by forum members berating people who say anything except glowing praise about the SCD participants) on the SCD DS forum.

It does seem to be driven by volumes of reports. I've seen posts which quite clearly break the rules (e.g. personal attacks on forum members) which have been allowed to stand whereas other borderline posts are immediately deleted. The rules should be clear and consistently applied.

I am afraid it is better not to as the thread would be closed like the last one.

Did you mean 'Tangle' instead of 'triangle'? I've seen that headline...

Triangles? Do you mean the 'heart' gestures? Or something else entirely and it's been auto-corrected?

I am sure it said triangle in the actual 2 page spread in the Paper but you are correct online it says Tangle.

I would imagine that the mods are triggered by reports. If multiple persons report a thread and then mods will view it and take action.

Based on the fact that the two threads were commenting about Aliona, Jay and her husband and really were complete speculation based on snap shots of how they looked, I don't think it's a bad thing. Some of the comments were distasteful and unnecessary.

I don't frequent the showbiz threads but I can only imagine that people who are there don't mind speculation (which a lot of showbiz news pages are e.g. in tabloids) and therefore don't report the threads, and what the mods don't know about then they won't react to (being financially unviable to moderate with any other manner other than reactively based on reports with a free-to-use forum like this)

They don't even sell that paper where I'm currently living. Newsagents won't stock it so I'm being good and not peeking inside
