After she got her first 40 she said something along the lines of, "I feel like i've won it already". Not too clever IMO, knew it would be uphill after that regardless of great scores.

Do you really think it was that?

She has been in the DO twice - it was always gonna be an uphill struggle. I don't think that comment made much (if any) difference,

She meant a 40 was her winning moment . Surely that was obvious ?

Now I didn't want Kellie to win, but I think that comment was just a sweet, innocent comment saying how happy she was to get a forty.

I just took it to mean that scoring 40 had already made her feel as good as winning could make her feel. I didn't read anything else into it.

Well, it certainly wasn't the reason I voted against her. (Which I kind of did the first time around. Spread my votes to everyone but her.)

Her intention was innocent but you could tell it could be interpreted in two ways as soon as it came out of her mouth as Claudia quickly moved onto something else without acknowledging the comment.

It made no difference to the result anyway, Jay had it won before the final.

Not to me actually. I took it the same way as the OP but didn't think it impacted on her subsequent loss.

Yep - NINE weeks before...

My analysis indicated that Jay was between 770 and 1175 times more popular than Kellie. These were always going to be insurmountable odds to climb.

If any comment cost her (which I really don't think it did) I think it'd been Len saying she should win. The public don't like being told what to do or who to vote for.

Jay was always going to win it since about week 4, I wouldn't worry

At the end of a day its a popularity contest. If I was Kellie I'd feel exactly the same way as Kevin - that what she achieved in terms of her dance and performance and consistency is worth far more than a glitterball won on popularity. Maybe some feel it isn't but I certainly would be happier with the former if I had to chose.

I didn't see anything wrong with the comment, but either way I don't think it would have changed anything. The people who interpreted it badly probably wouldn't have voted for her anyway.

I interpreted it wrongly and gave her 5 out of my 6 votes - does that make me odd??

I don't think Kellie said anything that cost her the trophy. Both Kellie and Georgia outdanced Jay tonight and it was his fans that made sure he lifted the glitterball.

Did you not give her the 6th vote because of that comment?

Maybe a little (joking). I just didn't see anything that bad with the comment so figured people who were already looking for something to knock Kelly with would take it as something it wasn't. Still, what do I know

I think it was just an innocent comment, considering she'd been in the bottom two twice she was probably convinced that she was going home last week and she wouldn't make it to the final so perhaps making it to the final probably was a victory to her.

Absolutely. In fact all the judges made remarks which they shouldn't have done. Len saying "I love you" was most inappropriate at this stage of the game.

I wonder how many people on this forum have ever performed in front of an audience. Those who have will know just how charged with adrenalin you become, especially when the occasion is so overwhelming and the activity so strenuous. Under those circumstances, people can say things that they don't really mean. They all may be professional entertainers, but they are still human beings and they have the same emotions as the rest of us. I think Kellie was simply expressing how overwhelmed she was to have scored the series' first 40.

Wasn't it the first 40 that had been awarded all this series???

She was excited and is a human being.

Do you have a 'thing' about happiness?
