Strictly No More BoyBanders With Intensive Pre Show Dance Training - Its A Yawnfest ?

This is the first time I have fallen asleep during a Strictly Come Dancing Final ever, the producers really have to address this issue as a matter of urgency.

With all the teeny tiny boybander fans voting hundreds of times each no one else had a chance, and it really is a yawn fest knowing who the winner is going to be before the halfway stage due to the intensive pre show dance training.

Should we bring back the level playing field ?

Should we introduce a handicapping system for the Celebs with an unfair advantage ?

How about soap stars with even more extensive pre-show training?

This seems weird argument. He was either so well trained it was unfair next to all the other contestants or he wasn't that good and won based having lots of pre-existing fans from being in boyband. very contradictory.

Also don't all the other celebrities carry with them fans of their work? Daniel O'Donnell and Peter Andre had cult fanbases, soap stars and presenters are on television way more than musicians. Honestly I've never felt this factors that much in Strictly were most of the votes are from people who appreciate the dancing. I'm sure some The Wanted fans voted but I doubt that vote alone was anywhere near enough to secure him the win.

Quote:
“Should we bring back the level playing field ?”

How so? Getting people with no dance experience at all? Most people in show business have had some form of dance experience and of the untrained how many would commit to a Strictly schedule? We'd be left with the jokey contestants or Kirsty Gallaghers who seemed genuinely to want to do well but wasn't progressing at an acceptable rate.

Getting people that no one has ever heard of? Yeah that'd make sure no pesky fans would vote for them.

Nicky Byrne and Simon Webbe called - they want to know where it went wrong for them as it's so easy.

Only if he's paired with Aliona so she can make sure he gets a bloody haircut. He looks like Bob Geldof's lovechild!

It would be fairer to have 2 seasons each year as in the US.

One with male celebs and female pros with the winner being as implied above.

A second with female celebs and male pros to give them a realistic chance of winning on a level playing field.

There have been 7 male & 6 female winners & this is first male in 3 years. Not exactly time to batten down the hatches against the male celeb invasion.

Lord-a-mercy! Have you forgotten already that every celeb in the final BUT Katie have ALL had "intensive pre-show dance training"?

Actually I'm hoping for a Damascene conversion to X factor fandom and desertion of the Strictly forum

OMG! No, The Wanted fans are a tear drop in comparison to the ocean of one direction fans, they are even more fanatical, I don't understand the first bit though SKID perhaps you can fill me in.

We want male celebs who also have a passion for dance. Not everyone cuts it - see Peter Andre. Jay & Aliona did produce some great moments and one cannot doubt their commitment. Jay did struggle quite a lot - it wasn't very easy for him. He seemed as shy as hell and his public speaking is awkward and he knows it.

But only 2 of the male winners got the most marks on the final night - and a majority came third. Only one female winner didn't top the final leaderboard, and she came second not third. And there's no reverse equivalents of Ali, Zoe, or Emma not even making the final even though their record was better than males that did. The voters have form backing soem typs of male regardless , and too often finding odd reasons not to vote for better females.

I posted almost the exact same thing on a different thread. Apologies if it looks like I'm copying - I wasn't copying honest millud.

Anyway, why should a member of a boyband who disbanded a while back have as many fans as an actress who is on four times a week (watched by 6 millionish people) currently?

I'd actually heard of them by name.
I'd never even heard of The Wanted

That should include anyone from a theatre school also. I think I remember the man from Eastenders (Christian I think) saying he could not enter because of his dance background but every year there are people from stage schools, I suppose they go on the show to try and get some exposure when they are not doing too well. I liked all of the dances Jay did, no stage school faces being pulled.

I'm not a boy band fan, (Genesis actually!) and I'm certainly no teeny! (I wish) I've never watched either Eastenders or Coronation Street ever! I voted for Jay... I liked him, I thought he'd overcome intense shyness, I truly believe it's harder for a male, and I did feel the BBC were trying to lead me - which I object to, in my own home, watching my licenced TV on a Saturday evening...

Disbanded boyband members are only disbanded until there swarms of fanatical fans force them back together again, boyband fans are dedicated and there are many more of them than tv actresses have.

I wonder how many times people need to roll out the "teenybopper boy band fans got Jay the win" line before they realise that's not true.

Then all actors would be out of any future series of Strictly...they have attended stage school and trained in all aspects of "showbiz".

So Jay had 2 bites at the cherry

1. He had years of ballet training followed by training at Midlands Academy of Dance and Drama. Which offers musical theatre training in all branches of dance, singing, and drama.

2. He's an ex boyband member.
