THE FINAL - Who DANCED IT BEST ON THE NIGHT? - Part 2
Yes, I am well aware that the end result went according to Darcy's script but who danced their Favourite Dance the best on the night?
And please don't adopt the "it matters not a jot" approach. Joining in is so much more fun... |

Okay dokey...
I think Georgia danced best overall tonight, but Kellie edged it with her showdance.

Georgia and Giovanni.
No hesitation from me this time (tho I loved their rumba and parts of the showdance more) |

I voted Kellie and Kevin in the poll for the first round, and then Georgia and Giovanni in this round. Their Charleston is just brilliant and IMO the best of the night.
Thought Jay was very underwhelming tonight and both Kellie and Georgia totally outdanced him. Not surprised he was still the winner though but probably my least favourite winner in recent years for what it's worth. |

That's my dance of the series and replaces the Cola Charleston as my favourite.

Overall I preferred Jay & Aliona's routines taken all together as a trio of dances but the individual one I enjoyed the most was Georgia's Charleston.
ETA: So just realised my vote for Jay & Aliona applies across the whole show rather than just the second half here, didn't spot that bit in the Poll. |

Nah, Jay and Aliona will win this poll just like all the others. I can't see many of their fans saying another couple were better tonight!

Except I just did and admitted I'd misread the Poll and would have chosen Georgia's Charleston
![]() You're the one then! Only joking. Seriously though, do you think they should have done their Jive again instead of the Paso? I think J&A thought they'd blown it, but if they'd danced the Jive it could have been a more relaxed night for them (relatively speaking).

It seems to me that we had a choice not just of dancers but of ways of being or maybe more accurately of what you want from dance:
a) coolly cool / technique b) exciting razzle and dazzle / big heart c) emotional connection / journey The three dances as a whole I love are Georgia's. First poll I didn't vote in because I didn't trust myself to be impartial. Kellie danced better in the first two but the emotion of GG's rumba and showdance meant more to me. If I'd voted it would have been a dishonest vote for GG. They weren't better. I just loved their outlook more. This poll, even though I prefer their rumba and showdance, I did vote for GG because 'better' seems a more objective judgement. But we'll all headline the couples depending on our priorities and personalities. ETA haven't mentioned Jay here and it's not because I discount him. Over the series I've loved his dances and like his kookiness and a certain mental vulnerability that makes him endearing, but last night (in my view) wasn't his night |

I'd have preferred to have seen the Tango or Charleston again but the stupid rules TPTB introduced where they couldn't pick a dance from the last 3 weeks ruled those out. Quote:

Perhaps it's a sign of how close it was between the final three. Each could offer something to everyone at some point in the evening (hope that makes sense).
![]() With this proviso -- the final was really close between the three but the result was probably a landslide |

No, quite happy to not see the Jive again, it's not my favourite dance of theirs, that would be the rumba which, as anyone whose seen me post on these boards for years will know I usually despise, followed by the Tango, the Paso, Charleston and the Salsa

At the end of the day we're told as the public, to vote for our favourite and so people do that. You'd have been well within your rights to vote for Georgia irrespective of whether you believed Kellie danced better because - at the end of the day - dance is subjective and based on emotionally connecting to what's happening on stage ![]() For me that was Jay, I emotionally connected with each of his three quite radically different routines for different reasons. My professional head admires his technical ability, my emotional head loves the lyrical way he moves and my can't explain it, it just is head, finds him utterly captivating to watch performing. I think creatively, he's more grown up than he is in person, if that makes sense. Where Georgia won it for me was that her understanding and feeling about what she was doing was growing and changing as she was doing it. I like that openness to change. I like that Giovanni too. |

I didn't know about the 3 week rule. Bit stupid I think. Their Tango was the standout dance for me, closely followed by the Charleston. The Tango was superb and worth a 40 in my eyes.

I agree with all that ^^. I looked forward to Jays dances every single week and was absolutely captivated. Even when he made errors I still really enjoyed his performance. |

Yes, think you're absolutely right, Buddy! Makes perfect sense to me, even half cut, as I am!!
![]() With this proviso -- the final was really close between the three but the result was probably a landslide ![]() You must have seen the number of times people say Colin lost the glitterball to Darren because of Puppetgate. And then someone explains that's not true because Darren was miles ahead before the show dances. Well, the reason we know this is because Darren wrote about it in his autobiography. So all we need to do now is wait for a finalist to write their biography and hope it's mentioned in the book!
