I admit I go on who I think has been the best throughout the three months it is on...I cannot see how you can just go on the night.

Exactly. Otherwise they should just train for 3 months and dance once at the end.

I still don't think she was the best on the night anyway, certainly not by the margin the judges put her.

Uproar?

How much Roar can a couple of hundred people shrugging Meh create?

No way was she the best...in fact to a certain degree the judges especially Len spoilt the show.

Such a lack of respect was shown for the others in the final.

Yes exactly. Not just Jay, Katie was judged so harshly and Georgia was treated like an also ran when she was better than Kellie as well.

I can't understand why they would want the final to be so negative. It left a really sour taste to it probably for fans of all 4.

Normally the judges are aware that their scores mean squat and are fairly bland. They weren't last night

All my family came to my house and we were shocked...also the fact that Len laid into Jay in the first minutes of the show and then he never stopped and Craig was no better.

In my opinion they really did spoil the final of what had been a good three months.

Is it possible that they thought that Jay was so far ahead that they would try and make out that it was going to be a close race...of which of course it was not.

I agree with all of the above. Jay was my favourite; I voted for him, he won, great. But during the whole show and afterwards, I felt completely flat interspersed with not a little anger. And those feelings are taking their time to go away. I thought the final was supposed to be the high point of the series, a celebration of excellence and hard graft. Instead it turned into a demolition job, where 3 of the 4 finalists must have felt like inadequate also rans. I had no problem with Kellie until the final, but when she got 40 for what was supposed to be a tango, it clearly set the tone for what was to come. And it got worse than I thought it would - unnecessarily cruel.

Also last night on these threads Jay supporters were called 'horny housewives' first let me say that I have a daughter the same age as Jay and on being called 'Horny I found derogatory...my own son in law thought he was great.

On the second strictly the first one to dance was Jay and I was really impressed by his Cha Cha. I also loved the fact that he was so nervous. Then when he went on to do the Waltz and what a beautiful dance that turned out to be...and then the third week that jive.

Those dances were amazing and though he had his up's and down's he was in my eye's the best dancer there.

Craig was right last night at the after party when he said Jay captured the hearts and minds of the British people...and that is exactly what he did.

It has nothing to do with being 'horny housewives' it has to do with Jay being a beautiful dancer.

He was the people's choice and that is why he won.”

It is not a well-known fact that Jay walked it as you state because the BBC do not reveal the voting figures.

All the last three were good but Jay won. Good for him. Jay won. Why not celebrate that and stop trying to put a spin on a scenario which just doesn't exist? That article in the DM has no definitive evidence whatsoever. It's just a rehash of what happened on the night.

Just like Big Brother when they try and persuade you on finals night that it's closer than you think.

I agree. In past years I got the impression the judges were joining in with a desire to create a real feel-good show and a celebration of the best of the series. This year I felt that, considering their scores didn't actually matter, they seemed to be far more harsh than usual particularly to Katie and Jay who were talked to quite rudely at times by Craig in particular. Even after the result was announced Craig seemed very bitchy on the red button feature, going on about how the public often don't choose the best dancer - presumably because someone who doesn't do gurning and jazz hands won this year!

I agree. I get the impression that Len and particularly Craig wanted Jay to feel he didn't deserve to win, with Craig even making digs at him after his victory. Saying he had 'no personality' was complete rubbish and very nasty IMO. And the way Katie was spoken to really did spoil the feel-good atmosphere I hoped to experience with a grand final.

For me it wasn't the dancing that made the final underwhelming, as all the finalists worked damn hard - it was the judges who I am finding increasingly unbearable, and I fear they really believe the show is all about them!

I agree with you ...the judges this year really spoilt the whole show.

I didn't have a problem with Len saying K&K should win - I didn't have a problem with all the accolades given to G&G - I really thought some of the stuff directed at both Jay and Katie was unnecessary and a bit spiteful. There was no need.

It was a bit spoilt IMO.

Natalie Cassidy was worse, pleading with the public every week to keep her in.

I sort of agreed with them about jay, he was a good dancer but he peaked in Week 3... And I think others did overtake him if not in ability then in progress and making good on promise shown. However I think it was bad form to say so on the night, when it's clearly not up to them, and it's also not like the audience were choosing a duffer anyway!
