Why all the hate for the Cliftons?

I don't know why Kevin is getting so much hate.

1. He didn't ask the judges to favour him and Kellie in the final.
2.Of course his family are going to support him; it would be a bit ridiculous if they didn't.
3.Because he's short, there is a limitation to who he can be paired with; AND he doesn't pick his partners.
4.He's an amazing dancer, and won lots of championships.
5. Just because his family are also dancers doesn't mean they shouldn't be on the show.
6.He works incredibly hard, and has gotten 3 partners to the finals, and they haven't all been ringers.

Some of the rumours people are spreading are ridiculous, such as him being Len's godson, or that his parents work on the show. He's gotten himself there on his own merit, and people need to recognise that.

Well said Joanne!

My issue with him and his partner is that they always have to be front and centre of everything again Imo they should have stopped that screaming weeks ago and they may well have won.

Kevin is funny, inventive in his choreography even when the music given to him is crazy, talented, hard-working, geeky, comes with a positive attitude, rolls with the blows, gets on well with his colleagues, teaches his celebs well...

I don't get the hate.

Because Kevin and Karen Clifton are the first time ever on this show that a married couple have competed together, got a lot of attention, been featured occasionally on It Takes Two and been given high profile and talented celebrities. It has literally never happened before, so now that it has, it's sent people a little crazy.

Kevin is desperate to grab every camera shot...use to like Kevin but the way he acted with Kellie was desperate this year.

You could say the same about Darren and Lilia and James and Ola

I don't mind Kevin or Karen or Joanne at all. In fact him and Suzanna were my fave couple during his first year.

I can see why he grates on some people though, he is always full on and seems to do everything at 150mph.

They didn't and they weren't, so far as I could see. They joined in when group reactions were called for. Otherwise, when the focus wasn't on them, they just stood quietly in the background. It was more likely to be Brendan intervening in front of Claudia (which I have no problem with - this isn't a dig), while Peter Andre edged into view from the side (this is a dig).

Think Kevin is just caught in a backlash because the final (and maybe a couple of weeks before that) showed such a heavy production push for him and Kellie. The sudden outburst of KK love was maybe a little too strong for some tastes. I like Kevin and feel sorry that he'll bear the brunt for heavy-handed production decisions that aren't his fault.

He'll be back next year with a loveable duffer and I expect the storyline of him showcasing a non-competitive, caring side and gently steering someone through their nerves is already in place. This is something I feel he'd do really well, actually.,so full likeability will be restored. He'll be fine.

Think people just resent the final, supposedly the sparkly highlight, having a slightly sour taste and falling flat. You would thi k Jay had two left feet and was lucky to be there from some reactions to his win. Kevin can't be blamed for that, but he's the easiest target.

I don't mind Karen and Joanne but Kevin can on occasions get a little bit grating at times but overall I have no issue with them.

Its all about opinions I have mine its as simple as that. Almost every week at the start of the show when all the couples were lined up K&K were front center doing their routine of high kicks etc. Attention seeking imo.

Have you only just started watching, or have you completely forgotten that Darren & Lilya and James & Ola were on the show years before the Cliftons showed up? You could even at a stretch add in Matt & Nicole Cutler, although they were divorced by the time they were on Strictly. Four of them were winners, with Darren & Jill and Matt & Alesha being arguably two of the most popular couples ever on the show. The Jordans are like marmite but given how popular Darren & Lilya were (and also Matt Cutler), it kind of leaves your theory dead in the water.

As for the Cliftons, I think Jo is an amazing dancer and would like to see her back next year with a celeb. I find Kevin annoying as anything off the dance floor but he does produce some memorable dances with his celebs and I think he adds something to the show for sure. Karen I can take or leave tbh, I don't think she's a particularly outstanding dancer and I don't think the show would miss her if she wasn't there.

Then they failed miserably because it wasn't remotely obvious that they were tbh and given some of the ridiculous stuff that's been said on here in the last 24 hours their post didn't even seem that odd tbh.

100% this!

The final was ruined by the negativity.

He's got lots of energy and get up and go. He knows what the judges like to see in a dance and makes a point of including it - nothing wrong with that. Seen him dance live and have to say he and Karen were totally mesmerising. I love his take on dances and considering he was given some of the worst music ever this season he's done really well.

Jay was too busy looking vacant to try to hog the camera.

I daresay it won't.... but as I wasn't trying to "faze" him, your point is moot.

Clifton is an empty vessel until he lifts that glitterball. Jay has done it while the desperado has failed. I would say Jay would take your interpretation of vacancy over desperation
