Why?

Because I enjoy Strictly and I also enjoy poking fun at people who take it all too seriously, of course.

I wouldn't care one jot if i was "taxed" on smilies - they are there to be used and there is a limit of 10 apparently, so my five or so is perfectly acceptable.

Aha! You read my mind. That was going to be my next suggestion.

Claudia could become Claudia Cliftonman and Tess could become Clif(t) Daly.

But you have a favourite which means you take the programme seriously.. I wouldn't leave that bridge of yours unattended for too much longer

Well, you see this is where you kind of make yourself look a bit foolish.

I don't have any favourites at all, so you really shouldn't assume. I am completely indifferent to who wins or who loses. I enjoy the show purely for the dance content, the entertainment value and Claudia's one-liners. I like all the pro dancers and think they each bring something worthwhile to the show. Contestants obviously vary every year but it is rare for any of them to evoke any negative reaction in me. Some are more watchable than others and indeed some are more bland - but that is a reflection people of real life too. I have never voted in any series of Strictly - nor do I intend to. It matters not one iota to me who comes out on top.

I'd be perfectly content if there were no eliminations and everyone danced each week.

How very noble. So how about affording those things you so enjoy to other posters without feeling the need to jump on their posts? I haven't looked foolish at all because if you watched just for the entertainment value with no partisanship, you wouldn't feel the need to patrol a forum for views contrary to your own. After all, we wouldn't want you taking it too seriously now would we.

Maybe also the judges.

Oooh I beg to differ. The thread you started last night 'have some of that you Jay haters' had me positively squirming with embarrassment for you.

It's posters like you that made me keep my own support of Jay very low key. There's one thing having a favourite and then there's another being a wee bit silly.

Wow, you are unbelievably touchy and actually a little unpleasant into the bargain. How bizarre.

I haven't "jumped on" anyone's posts but I do wonder about what heinous crimes the Cliftons have committed to elicit the sort of vitriol and bile that spews forth from some people on this forum... so I think that balancing that unpleasantness with a little light-hearted banter is probably no bad thing.

This is a light entertainment show - not a Lions v Christians showdown at the Colosseum in ancient Rome. Is there REALLY any need for all the unpleasantness and character assassinations?

I will continue to hold my balanced and no-partisan views, as I see no reason to do otherwise and if you don't like that, do feel free to scroll past my posts.

Nah!!! We can all read and tell the difference, Crayon. There are some absolutely lovely Jay fans. Genuinely kind good people. You should be able to enjoy the glitterball!

Speaking of changing the names of other show participants ... to me it sounds as though Tess refers to Darcey as Darcey Busstop. Am I alone in this? Do I need my hearing tested?

tbh I liked frankie last year....just that he chose a bloody awful showdance with her last year...this year with the screamer was admittedly better.

I don't hate the Cliftons remotely BUT I did find all the screeching/cheering/yelling of tens from the balcony annoying (Karen, Jo and Janette). I don't remember another series where pros, even married ones, have done that to the same extent.
That, and the face on Jo when Jay won (til she saw the camera) was off-putting.
Kevin's choreo and story telling this series has annoyed the hell out of me, but I accept that that is subjective.
All that is swept aside though by the American Smooth in the semi-final. That blew me away.

Yes, that Janette Clifton - she's just the giddy limit, isn't she?

As a Georgia fan, the thing that made my night is the joined-together memories of how moved she was. That and Giovanni's whirling dervish moment. If a Katie fan, I think it would be the absolute daring of her backward fall in their showdance. If Kellie was my girl, I think I'd remember most Kevin saying he would not swap the glitterball for the series he and she had shared. If Jay was my guy -- 'Jo's face when Jay won', nope, that wouldn't be my particular highlight... Why not simply enjoy it!? Really!!

Not many moons ago posters were complaining that we never got any new "homegrown" pros on the show.

Now we have 2 excellent "homegrown" dancers (I'm sure Jo will have a partner next year) and all some people now do is what? That's right - complain!
