Over the years I have always generally Craig's comments because although he seems mean & harsh, he is the same for everyone, tells it like it is and generally marks low all round. When asked what it takes t get a 10 from him he has said that there must be absolutely no mistakes and also avoid being dull, dull, dull. Even when he raves about a dance you will get "I am only nit picking but etc etc " and then give it a 9

So his 10 for Kellie's Tango means that the footwork was perfect from start to finish, arms and hands held correctly and head always in the right position throughout. And that is just to get the technical content right. With a 10 he is saying that dance will stand comparison with any Tango (or any other dance) performed over the 13 Strictly years. As an aside, anyone know what those large pink things are that keep flying past my window?

The actual number of Youtube views for the BBC release of Kellie's Tango is 8597 (score 40). Georgia's Rumba is at 7550 (score 36) & Jays QS is at 12000 (score 36) so it looks like Kellie's fans are less enamoured with her performance than the judges.

Or they just keep the recording on Sky + like I do? or the iPlayer?

YT views mean nothing.

Yes, all of Kellie's performances over the last few weeks have been brilliant.

I think it's reaching to analyse a 40 in the final to death when the judges scores effects nothing. Some of the best winners on the show never got a 40 and some right rubbish ones did.

It's all a bit sour grapes to try and discount KK's scores when it really didn't mean much anyway.

Interesting idea - that suggests that people who like Jay generally watch freeview rather than shell out for SKY.

Freeview or Sky, still showed the same leaderboard on the night.

So why do they say that the judges scores are for GUIDANCE only, implying that if you don't know better, they are telling you who deserves your vote? Why not just say the scores are a bit of fun and meaningless when it comes to the final?

But only SKY viewers can rewatch the dances from a recording which is what was suggested , whereas Freeview watchers go to Youtube.

It's just what they think - they make it clear numerous times that the judges scores don't count for anything in the final and it's all down to the viewer.

As one of the forum members that has been tracking YouTube views, I half agree that YouTube views mean nothing.
I don't think it's the measure of voting patterns, as joke contestants usually do very badly on YouTube but they seem to survive many weeks (I've they are voted on personality and entertainment value rather than dance value).
But, both Jay and Georgia (and I would say Anita as well) have been really popular on YouTube this year so their fanbases do enjoy rewatching their dancing.

To suggest that just one fanbase rewatches one way, (or that you can only have sky if you are a fan of kellie or freeview Jay/Georgia) while the others different it's frankly a bit of wishful thinking. I would imagine if some of kellies fans do watch her dances on sky, the same applies to Georgia's and Jay's.

Or (some of) Kellie's fans are less likely to re-view on Youtube perhaps?

Or there are less fans overall?

Or .....

Remember the old adage: there are lies, damned lies and statistics.

I have no idea why people set so much store on youtube viewings. I haven't watched any of the dances on youtube bar Jay's showdance as someone posted a link and I watched it, it was my least avourite on the night.

I have the dances on my tivo should I wish to watch any again.

On the whole ten thing, I am usually like Craig, there are very few dances I would give a ten to as well.
With Kellie in the final, for me the tango wouldn't be a ten just because I'm not fond of the theme of it (not her fault), but I think the judges hands were kind of tied having marked Jay and Georgia all nines with clear mistakes, Kellie produced a good clean tango, it had to be a ten. On that matter I wouldn't mind a .5 paddle at times.

Her showdance for me was a ten tough.

Never really understood why Craig's 10's are seen as more merited, they can be just as baffling (Matt DA's Waltz, Lisa's Cha Cha, Pamela's QS, Abbey's Salsa).

I also don't think YT views measure much other than how entertaining a dance was. Jeremy's Salsa probably has more views than half the other dances this series, doesn't mean it should have got 9s and 10s.

Can't understand the fuss over this - the judges liked Kellie, the public liked Jay.

Only public vote counts in the final - Jay won.

Even if it was 50% judges and 50% with the viewers vote counting if there's a draw as in a normal week, Jay was likely to win.

Judges - Kellie 3, Georgia 2, Jay 1

We know that Jay got most public votes

so if Public - Jay 3, Georgia 2, Kellie 1

they'd all get 4 in total, but the public vote counts more,

so still a Jay win.

We know Kellie has been in two dance-offs and so had fewer votes in 2 weeks against Georgia being in the dance-off once so had fewer votes in one week, so only in the less likely event of the public vote being

Jay 3, Kellie 2, Georgia 1

then Kellie would have won - but only in the less likely combination.

YouTube viewing is as good a guide as any - though people who watch it might not vote on Strictly.

Most people with Freeview have the box that records - so no problem there.

Craig's 10 lost any authenticity when he awarded Chris Hollins' Charleston 10 in his final. I loved Chris, I loved that dance and I'm glad he won, but even I could see a) it wasn't a 10 - there was no swivel for starters - and b) they'd danced it better first time around.

It's just another myth in the panto that is Strictly, and is no more consistent than any other of the judges' foibles, quirks or preferences.

Exactly. It was not meant to be strictly serious about freeview & sky and anyway the youtube views is a bit if a red herring. My point was that when 'perfect' dances score 40 they really stand out and people do want to watch them again but the 40 including a rare 10 from Craig was at odds with his strictly critical analysis & voting over many years.

Fairly sure it was Lisa Snowdon who buried the Legend Of Craig's 10.

Kellies showdance was good but her tango was an 8, her charleston a 9. No way were they worthy of 10s.
Craig was so obvious with his love for her.

^ In fairness Craig did give Kellie's Charleston a 9. It's the other judges you should be on for that one.

People need to stop over analysing everything. The judges liked Kellie's dances more, and they had already given Jay 9, so they gave Kellie 10. Jay won already, there's no need to rip Kellie's dances apart in order to praise Jay.

Did you hear Craig on the red button though. Gushing over Kellie and basically saying Jay only won because he won over the public. Hes not bloody Chris Hollins! Jay CAN dance.

Which, to all intents & purposes, he did. The judges scored Kellie the winner, followed by Georgia then Jay. The public scored Jay as the winner (by impressing them more, winning them over, and using his established popularity. It's as simple as that.

Who cares ? I doubt kellie is sat in a dark corner furiously weeping at what people do on t'internet . Number crunching is and always will be boring .
She got perfect scores and the 'winner' was crap, but unfortunately thems the breaks when you're a 38 yr old female up against a pretty boy .
