Did you post it on an open forum?

I responded to your comment as I had written nearly the exact same post as Monkseal a moment before.

Speaking as someone who has supported Jay from before he actually danced a step (after reading his amusing Twitter feed), I too can post what I like.

Good for you being a supporter of Jay...

I love the way Lorraine scoffs at press coverage without apparently realising that she is also part of the same media

Thank you (I think)

I just don't like to see unnecessary rudeness to somone who is a longstanding and greatly liked member of the forum (ie Monkseal) just because they are not riding on the Jay bandwagon.

(that makes it sounds like I consider rudeness to newbies is ok and totally necessary. Which it is...)

I saw the interview too. He is such a lovely young man. His parents must be so proud of him.

That was a good answer to Lorraine about Aliona, and delivered in exactly the right way.

I understand people being very outraged at what Jay said about the toddler. It is the normal reaction.

I'd learned a bit about him before that, so my initial reaction was that the most likely explanation was that he was extremely bad at describing how cute a toddler is (he does add "Cute!" at the end). As time has gone on, from observation of him, that opinion of what he meant has grown stronger.
It does seem that there is a similar local saying where he was raised and he tried to exaggerate it to mean that the toddler was even cuter. At least the child's mother seemed to have understood about Jay well enough to have realised his intention was good.

Definitely something someone 25 years old should have filtered away from possibly saying, but I guess he now has the filter.

It was a case of putting your foot in your mouth and trying to cram the other one in too, IMO.

Even when he thought the camera's had stopped rolling...he got up to give Lorraine a cuddle.

I agree that he got tied up in knots. Ive learned alot about him too which would indicate that he doesnt seem to have a nasty bone in his body and I bet he was devastated that it came out the way it did. Just wish people wouldn't keep bringing it up as a stick to hit him with. I bet everyone on this thread has said something in their lives when they wish the ground would open up and swallow them. I know I have. Luckily it wasnt on tv.

BIB
It's pretty much the only stick available - so I expect it will continue for some.

Hopefully he will be in the public realm and people will get to know him better in the future.

Im sure alot of people are unaware that he is patron of a child bereavement charity in Nottingham. Also he donated his hair to a children's charity. Hardly a child abuser. As you say, it is the only stick available.

I didn't "bring it up as a stick to hit him with".
He made a funny remark- some people took offence and you defended him. All fine.
I made a funny remark about his funny remark and some people took offence. Not fine

Get your double standards sorted out.

Sorry but that is how I read it. If I misread your intentions then Im sorry. Dont think I can be accused of double stands though because I didn't realise that you had said it as a joke.

With respect, Lorraine Kelly would interview Peter Sutcliffe and tell him how 'lovely' and 'super' he is.

I mean Jay is lovely - but Lorraine Kelly is hardly a barometer of sane criticism.
