It seemed to me (and from what they themselves said) that Jay and Aliona approached the final in their own way.
They were happy about all the time they had spent together before the final and their friendship, so they were not trying to be as competitive as they could, but wanted to end their Strictly being themselves (a bit like dancing it in training). They were OK with however that affected the result - even if it meant they didn't win. I hope their win becomes the modernisation of Strictly. |

One year they definitely didn't score the final dance, can't remember which year but guessing not last year so it must have been the show dance not scored.
So yes I agree with the OP if the judges scores don't count for the final anyway don't bother to score them. |

From memory:
Natalie topped the LB but runner-uped 2 years ago. Ditto Denise 3 years ago. Jason topped the LB after 2 dances but was eliminated before the final round 4 years ago. Ditto Pamela 5 years ago. Given that recently it's more the norm for the judges' winner in the final to lose, I'm intrigued as to why it's such an issue this time. |

Seems obvious to me.
Don't allow judges to vote in the final. Had Kellie not received full marks, this discussion wouldn't be taking place and the winner could be enjoying their moment. The Final belongs to the public anyway in my opinion, so why give scores to "guide us". Are we so stupid that we need guidance? |

It was on the board with the winner at the bottom of it - as well as in their heads.
OT - I agree that marks are unnecessary, but they will always be used as a means for the producers to try to have a final go at manipulation and influencing the outcome. ![]() #championjay |

My Christmas wishes:-
Please do not change SCD one bit, it gets 11 million viewers. I wish all these proposed changes and false fix claims stop, as there all based on nothing. The tabloids to stop printing lies. |

It is worth remembering that judges will mark down for small mistakes but the public will only change their vote for massive mistakes. Some of the public will be swayed by the judges comments though.

We wouldn't be discussing all this so much if the judges were actually consistent and followed their own rules! |

Also worth remembering because of the camerawork we - the viewers - do not necessarily see what the judges see - poor footwork especially. A dance colleague of mine was recently in the audience and said afterward how shocked he was at how poor the quality of dancing actually was - and yet it looked great on tv! |

The judges mark the dancing; the public can vote for their favourite - regardless of mistakes, big or small.

The real problem is Jay and Kellie's fans not being able to let it go!
The judges votes mattered not one iota, as Jay had won the series after he danced the jive. He could have fallen on his arse every week since then and would still have won. Was Jay the best dancer overall? Probably. Did Kellie outperform him on finals night? Probably Did Georgia do herself proud and was she the equal of Jay and Kellie? Probably Was Katie not as good as Jay, Kelie and Georgia? Probably Was this one of the best ever series of SCD? Probably Will we all be back next year with the same moans, groas and bitching? Probably But I might be wrong!!! Will we all have a fantastic Christmas? Definitely and I hope so.

The judges spoilt the show for me in a way . Its a feel good Saturday night entertainment show . Their negativity annoyed me . They all but told Katie she had no place in the final despite they putting her there
Ended up feeling sorry for Katie with their comments, yes she was out of place being there in my opinion, but they decided she should be there. Inconsistency much
