Really liked her partnership with Jay this season. Some great dances, tho a bit disappointed no jive in final.
So pleased that they won and wish her all the best for the future.

Lovely lady and a brilliant choreographer who I will miss.

(Must say though that anyone who announces that they are leaving is being a tad presumptuous that they would be offered a contract next year anyway. I'm certain that Aliona would have had the offer though. )

I still remember that modern style pro dance she did with Matthew Cutler. It was fab, I wonder if it's still on Youtube?

I've always liked Aliona and will miss her.

I love Aliona and I'll miss her but I think she has absolutely made the right decision.

Go out on a high.

Best of luck to her for the future.

But if you know you're not coming back, it's common courtesy to tell the producers so they'll know not to count you in the lineup and that they'll need to look for possible replacements. Many dancers are still competing or have their own dance schools or other commitments; not every dancer wants to do Strictly or DWTS, especially if it's going to mean moving to the UK for a number of months. Aliona, presumably, also wanted to tell her fans that she won't be back, which is, again, courtesy.

Aliona's definitely leaving on a high. It's the perfect time to move on. Good luck to her.

to be fair, she has said that she has done her last Strictly (the implication being that she would not be available next year should the BBC offer her a contract).

I think she's a brilliant dancer and teacher. Very very best of luck to her in whatever she does next and for the future.

I'm not surprised - I thought this was her plan the moment she said Jay was her favourite. There was a real 'farewell', burning her bridges feel to her in the last couple of weeks. After her various ups and downs on the show over the years, I'm really really happy that she's going out on a high and when she wants to. Very very best to her.

Why do some people always immediately assume that when a female pro is leaving the show it's because she wants to " settle down " 😒😒 or " start a family" 😒 ? Can't they leave because they want to have or try more opportunities career wise 😒 ? Especially when they have already won ? These assumptions are annoying 😒.

Flavia left mostly because she wanted to focus on her dance tour with Vincent and also because she wanted to leave on a high.

Camilla left because she wanted to leave on a high and because she wanted a new challenge.

Anyways, I think that Aliona choose to leave mostly because she knew that she would've just received duffers for yearssssss to come and I'm sure that she didn't want to go back to that after being given 3 duffers in a row; 1st OUT 3 years in a row.

She's also pretty ambitious so I think that she wants a new challenge; career wise.

They have changed the show. It now doesn't matter if you are an expert in the 10 dances, can dance the 10 dances brilliantly, can teach the 10 dances brilliantly, can choreograph the 10 dances brilliantly.

By lowering the experience and skills required, and reducing the pro's say in music and theme choices, they can save costs and have more control, but with the pro having less say, you can expect that the forming of a team of 'we together will shape our own destiny' can only be weaker and the chemistry will be less. Aliona is exceptionally good at generating chemistry – which is an undervalued quality on Strictly. She has the ideal attributes for working on Strictly - by that I mean Strictly as it should be.

Jay happened to be a very likeable 25 year old, who was born with an aptitude for dance and had trained in dance after school and done 3 years theatre school. An opportunity was created when they were paired. They both are very nice people and knew they would get on. They formed a strong bond and Aliona was just being herself and accepted Jay being himself. They got along so well, there was a lot of chemistry and the tabloids did what tabloids do. The final was them making a statement that it’s OK to be yourself and do things your way. It may not have been to the Strictly script, but they did it anyway and they still won. That’s the way they did the whole show and that’s why people loved them.

Aliona has worked with many nice people over the years and got along very well with them. Jay and his family are now friends with Aliona and Vincent. She has always been true to herself and done what she thinks is right.

There are some who didn’t like her and as this Series has ended, some have changed their minds and some have become more bitter.

She is following her own path now – and as usual, it’s the right one.

My best wishes to Aliona and Vincent – and thanks! – it’s been a blast!

Who will dance with Jay on the Strictly tour now? Means we will never see 'that' jive again.

Aliona is doing the tour and they've said they'll be doing the jive. This means she won't be doing the next series.

I bet she and her husband have agreed to plan a family.

I said as much when she said Jay and this scd was her favourite, it had a finality to it.

She is the most successful pro, two wins in three finals and has produced some great routines.
Anything other then a win wouldn't be as good.

She's a great dancer, I think often underestimated, but she is amazing to watch and I hope she has success in what she chooses to do next.

As a fan, I am happy that she isn't coming back for her sake. I will desperately miss her (her dancing, her personality, her choreo...) but I am happy that she is leaving on her terms after being the most successful pro.

I wish Aliona the very best of luck for her future with husband, kids, and probably a lot more dancing, but at a gentler pace than Strictly.

7 years is a LONG time to exist in the Strictly mincing machine.

Jay must have known this for ages, and now I understand far better their reactions, both standing in line before hearing the results ("Bother, we've blown it, never mind but Ouch") then after Tess read out their names ("What? We really did it?")
And it also explains all those hugs etc so misinterpreted by the tabloids - Jay obviously incredibly pleased for her.

Will miss her next year.

That is certainly another way of looking at it.

I sort of expected this announcement - she's become the most successful pro in Strictly history by some margin now, and it's not surprising she's chosen to leave on a high.

I'll definitely miss her though - I think she seems to be a great teacher and clever choreographer, and she's managed to be innovative within the rules since she got told off by Len way back in her second or third week on the show. I also love watching her dance - especially back with Matt Cutler in her first couple of series and on the professionals' tour. I'm gutted I can't make it to the tour to see her dance live one more time!

I wish her all the very best with whatever she decides to do next

Yes - Nicole Cutler did series 3 and 5 but not series 4 if I remember correctly.

I for one is happy with the news, she's not exactly my favourite Pro

Surprise surprise. She's never been gracious when paired with a less than competent dancer and she knows she wouldn't get a contender next year. I think she comes across like a little madam actually. I love Jay and was really pleased he won but Aliona did her best to mess it up for him in the final with no jive and poor show dance.

She will be missed as a skilled 10 dancer and a good teacher - hope they replace her with someone equally skilled. She had a good relationships not only with Jay, but with Tony - who wasn't a contender - as well as Matt and Harry.

It's fair enough for her to say his was her last - so the producers know where they stand.

Agree that Jay must have known for ages and their Final dances were a celebration of Aliona's Strictly as well as Jay's.

With hindsight, it showed in their reactions in the Final. In the early weeks Jay 'leaned' on Aliona for support - but seemed to me that in the second half of the programme that Aliona very much 'leaned' on Jay.

Aliona said around the time she married Vincent that they would like a family, so that maybe is what she wants to do?

I hope she comes back next year to do the winners dance with Jay - maybe the Jive - in the Launch Show

Lovely post Fatskia.

I only really got know Aliona properly this season and I'm sad to see her go. I did feel that this might happen from about mid-way through but as soon as Aliona said that Jay was her favourite partner I knew it would happen, I don't think any Pro would make such a statement if they were staying. It was easy to see that in the latter dances they were dancing for each other and now we all know why.

I'll miss her but I'm sure for her career she's made the right decision, you can only imagine the celebs she would have been given for the next few years.

Love to Aliona and love to Vincent too, I hope they have a great future...and we get to see Aliona dance on tv again.
