This is getting beyond a joke now... I expect Craig will be sulking until next series, but I'm quite shocked at Darcey saying that Kellie should have won 'without fail' - especially after calling Jay her 'number one' on Saturday night! Two faced or what?

Having fans say the result is wrong is bad enough, but I think its hugely unprofessional of judges to tell us who SHOULD have won. I really do feel that all the judges have got far too big for their boots to the extent they feel their opinions are definitive, and I hope that some or all of them will not return next year. Whether you like Jay or not I think its rude of them to say someone else should have won, especially when all the finalists were so good. You'd think Jeremy Vine had won the series the way Craig keeps going on about the best dancer not always winning!

The only person who ~ should have won~ is the person who the public voted to win .So they are both wrong .

The Sun "interview" they're quoting ends with the following :

Quote:
“Aliona, who also won in 2011 with Harry Judd, has been signed for next year, as has Kevin. A source said: “They’re very popular.””

Just a thought...

Well they didn't say it to the Sun, they said it to Jeremy in the red button show, so that's a lie for a start. Jeremy asked them a leading question and they were basically - in how it came across to me - saying that Kellie was good enough to win, which they obviously thought. It's been twisted out of all proportion, like everything else. I'd be pleased if Darcey and Craig set the record straight, on twitter or something, but if they choose not fan the flames I can understand that as well.

Looks like the "source" had another off day there

Did you get worked up when the judges have said the same stuff in previous years? Of course they think Kellie should have won they put her top of the leaderboard. It's hardly a revelation. The winner of the show is the favourite with the viewing public. Nothing more / nothing less. What's good about show is that contestants progress on mixture of dance ability scored by judges / and how favourably they are viewed by public. The public reason for liking someone is very often not dance ability. It's fun factor / knowing celebrity in their real job / how good looking they are to name but three. The dance ability factor is actually removed in final it's all 'vote for your favourite'.

This is the same Darcy that told Jay he was her number one is it?

Precisely. If they didn't think that she should win they would have marked her lower and others higher.

Their guidance scores are a matter of record, as are the couples' positions on the leaderboard.

I've only watched it for three series and don't recall this ever happening in those - Caroline was their chosen one so that was all good, and I recall Craig being very complimentary about Abbey after she won. I believe he sulked about Louis though and I did think that was rude, but can't really comment on whether it was as bad as this time or not.

Like people are saying in the NAT, the daftest thing is that prior to the final, Jay had scored more points from the judges than anyone - I'm really not sure where the whole 'Kellie is best' bandwagon started, or why!

Strange. His showdance was a number 2.

Perhaps Craig has a problem with men winning!!!! Anyway his opinion counts for nothing. Jay won because he was popular with the public - end of.

I noticed that several times during the evening either Tess or Claudia or the voiceover said 'to vote for who you wany to win .....' and not 'to vote for the best dancer .....'. So they accept how people chose to vote.

Exactly. I suppose the judges have to stand by their marks and by marking Kellie higher than the others they were saying that she was better. However, they probably know that many people have complained that the judges were biased towards Kellie and they are trying to justify their position. A position I feel was eroded on Saturday.

They would have been better not making any comments on the winner. Its just making matters worse.

I think it's more a "Kellie was best on finals night" bandwagon if it's any bandwagon at all.

The NAT has just been a Jay appreciation thread this year with added invective towards Peter, Kevin and Kellie in that order. When I looked earlier they were busy explaining away the ovation for Kellie's tango as actually being for Jay's QS but they weren't quite in sync.

That's where this post-final controversy has got bogged down - instead of just accepting Jay as a worthy winner and didn't Kellie and Georgia do brilliantly on the night? - we're locked into ever more ludicrous attempts to "prove" that as Jay won the vote he was definitely the best dancer. Judges' board, audience reaction, Pros' acclaim for Kellie and Kevin on the night and on Twitter (Matthew Bourne etc) will take a hell of a lot of airbrushing out. Awkward.

I do think Craig and Darcey are to blame for this. If they hadn't made that comment, then forum members would have had the usual fisticuffs about who should have won and by now would have moved on. The papers are also fuelling the debate. The comments they are quoting are taken from what was said on the red button. I cant imagine Darcey would have given an interview to anyone.

Bravo, Englishspinner. I agree with every word of this post.

The refusal to give so much as a scintilla of credit to any of the other finalists, most especially Kevin & Kellie, has reeked of mean spirited, myopic, resentful embitterment.

I have no idea what is wrong with some people. Jay won, arguably deservedly, but Kevin & Kellie danced better on the night. So bloody what?

Come on now, Darcey didn't actually say that. In the same way that Jamelia didn't say it was fixed - that one at least is obvious, she would know the eliminations were not fixed. Don't believe what the media say, they distort the slightest thing to cause trouble.

The judges gave Kellie 40s so from their points of view, her dances were faultless - but they know the public have the final say and were delighted for Jay. Weren't we all?
I couldn't have called it.

Note, The Sun and OK articles are based 100% on what was said live on the red button post the live final with Zoe.

The Suns article took what the judges said, and then changed it and took it out of context.

Anyone can watch how the interview went on IPlayer.

She didn't actually say that at all, it's been snipped from a leading question she was asked by Jeremy Vine during the Red Button interviews.

On Twitter where Matthew Bourne also said Jay was a worthy winner, which seems to keep getting snipped off any reference to his Kellie & Kevin complementary Tweets. I wonder why that is?
