Didn't it used to be "Vote for your favourite?"

I do think the judges tried to influence the public vote by giving Kellie such high scores, but then, (for the conspiracy theorists) she as "Wonder Woman," in East-Enders is one of the BBC's."

The NAT has just been a Jay appreciation thread this year with added invective towards Peter, Kevin and Kellie in that order. When I looked earlier they were busy explaining away the ovation for Kellie's tango as actually being for Jay's QS but they weren't quite in sync.

That's where this post-final controversy has got bogged down - instead of just accepting Jay as a worthy winner and didn't Kellie and Georgia do brilliantly on the night? - we're locked into ever more ludicrous attempts to "prove" that as Jay won the vote he was definitely the best dancer. Judges' board, audience reaction, Pros' acclaim for Kellie and Kevin on the night and on Twitter (Matthew Bourne etc) will take a hell of a lot of airbrushing out. Awkward.”

As it ended, the final allowed Jay to be the popular vote winner, Kellie to be the on-the-night winner, and Georgia to be the journey winner (Craig's comment). As I watched I thought, Oh, something for everyone!'...

Wronggg!

It feels like some Jay supporters are trying to grab the consolation prizes along with the trophy

Except Katie, apparently...

I'm touched that Matthew agrees with me, even if he tweeted first.
It rather proves my point that over in the NAT thread they're going all "Silent Witness" over the entrails of the show, to prove the winner must have been the best.

Still will be a struggle to explain away Matthew's "Come on folks ... @kelliebright76 & @keviclifton nailed it tonight ... Vote!! @bbcstrictly".... but see what you can do.

Ah, Katie was the plucky beginner winner and deserved a trophy for falling backwards off a high building into Anton's arms

I think a very small minority are responding to the numerous claims and repeated threads about Jay not being the "real" winner and it's hardly surprising. Happens every year.

Why would it be a struggle to explain it? He's expressing an opinion he's perfectly entitled to have. The same as he did when he followed up his three Tweets about Kellie with his Tweet about Jay being a worthy winner.

Aaaand he said later that he'd fallen in love with both Georgia and Giovanni. Something for everyone again (apart from Katie)

Can I just point out that during this unprepped red button interview Craig also claimed that Jay's dancing "changed people's lives forever"? It wasn't the most coherent 2 minutes of anybody's life, probably for the best if it weren't dissected like the Dead Sea Scrolls

Exactly, if anyone should be agrieved about the post final fall out it should be Katie who seems to have been whitewashed out!

I really do t know what NAT you're reading, but the one I've been has mainly been talking about how awful Katie was treated, what a rotten idea judges choice is and someone linked to a comment in The Guardian review from someone who was at the final who had written their take on the cheering for each couple

For me the beginning of the red button controversy was that instead of Zoe asking how excited everyone was, there was Jeremy Vine with microphone in hand, unable to restrain his interviewer's zest. He opened up a trapdoor and Darcey fell right in to it. Not saying Jeremy was being impish or rogue in any sense! He was just asking questions in a way that most media savvy folk would stonewall.

This. One hundred times this.

In the absence of any clearly defined scoring criteria, and ones which are absolutely followed to the letter every time by all the joodges, their assessment of who woz da best are pretty meaningless imo

Ergo, Ms Bussell would be talking out of her Darcey

And if she said that one sentence in its entirety then she deserves to be sacked. However, she is not so stupid. As the clifton fans state there have been enough Clifton 'hate' threads, this is just another bitter thread about the winner.

Darcey is entitled to her opinion, perhaps more so than most as a judge, and with a clear view of the dances (clearer than the viewers suffer, anyway).

I have a different perspective (considering performances across a range of dance styles and thus shows), which is what I used to shape my own vote.

There is no rule for viewer votes. If they wish, they can vote for contestants on the basis of hair colour, length of name, whether they like the pro, pin the tail on the donkey or any other criterion they consider appropriate (heck, even dance ability is allowable).

This is so true!

Believe it or not, my late mum used to vote on which was her favourite dress!

I must be the only person who thinks Kellie was not brilliant and her show dance was nothing to write home to about. IMO it was boring and had nothing memorable just like her.

This is getting beyond a joke now... I expect Craig will be sulking until next series, but I'm quite shocked at Darcey saying that Kellie should have won 'without fail' - especially after calling Jay her 'number one' on Saturday night! Two faced or what?

Having fans say the result is wrong is bad enough, but I think its hugely unprofessional of judges to tell us who SHOULD have won. I really do feel that all the judges have got far too big for their boots to the extent they feel their opinions are definitive, and I hope that some or all of them will not return next year. Whether you like Jay or not I think its rude of them to say someone else should have won, especially when all the finalists were so good. You'd think Jeremy Vine had won the series the way Craig keeps going on about the best dancer not always winning!”

The press is looking too much in to this. If I remember well she was asked specifically does she think Kellie should have won. It's the same as the dance off. They say to either couple you shouldn't have left, you should have stayed etc. I think they meant thea every one of the contenders should have won, was worthy of winning.
I am quite gutted they don't include Georgia in the equasion. I'm sure if they were asked about Georgia they would have said the same.
It's politics. You have to be good with everyone.

And you are nota Jay fan, are you? (Meaning no biased)

I thought she was competent (she did not out a foot wrong) but uninspiring.
Dancing isn't only about that, is about what Craig said capturing the imaginations and minds and until the semis Kellie did not. And even on the semis and final, still many people didn't.

I also did think that basically she showed no range. Georgia was much well rounded even on the final.

I didn't mind Jay but wasn't a great fan. However, I thought his show dance was very sensual and sensitive unlike all that happy clappy cloppy stomp that Kellie did. Yes Georgia too was very sensual. I liked Anita but knew she would never be in the finals. I did have throwing the rattle out of the pram moment when she was kicked out in the DO.

Well, if it can be any consolation, that way Anita avoided the treatment that Katie received of the final.

I thought Anita would be in the finals, and I truly thought if she had, she would have been the only one to challenge Jay vote wise. Throughout it seemed to me that Anita was the 2nd most popular celeb (until the semis where she could only have been 3rd maximum).

I think Kelie didn't win because the people couldn't bear the screaming that would have been involved had she won. I've just rewatched the announcement of the winner. Well, Kellie is almost pleasant when she's no shrieking with excitement.

The only person who should have won was the best dancer. And miraculously this year the great British public got it right, and the best dancer won.

I agree. I don't think she should have even been in the final. Should have been Helen and Anita with Georgia and Jay.
