Those are the four I've put in the "rank the couples 2015" thread as top 4!

I have a lot of ballroom and latin professionals - and many international judges on my FB on the night my timeline was of the view Kellie took the night - Jay the series and was a worthy winner - all bar none thought Anita should have been there over Katie

Personally I just liked the fact 3 of the best dancers were in the final if Helen had been there too would have made it the right top 4 imo the fact I got 3 of them was happy - why can't some move on Jay won he was the deserved winner of the series maybe just not the night?

But what exactly is a deserving winner?

Dancing is not like football where the winner is the one who scores more goals, dancing is interpretative. What appeals to me might not appeal to my neighbour.

The winner appealed to more people than the runners up; consequently, got more votes and won. If you supported the winner, he is a deserving winner.

If you supported another contestant that didn't win, you might disagree that the winner is a deserving winner. He won, but you liked another couple best, so in your opinion he didn't deserve to win per se (despite having won).

for me, in the series I enjoyed various dances throughout the series from Jay, Georgia, Helen and Kellie (Kellie was my personal fave) I thought all 4 would make worthy finalists out of those 4 I thought Jay, Georgia and Kellie were overall the best in both styles and would be happy with any of those 3 winning - and the voting public agreed

If for instance Katie had won I would not have thought them a deserving winner - but if that had happened then you just have to accept the public vote

I thought she should have '1' too

Yes, you accept the public vote but that doesn't mean you have to agree with it.

I understand your point of view but, for example, when Chris Hollins won, wasn't he a deserving winner? In the eyes of all the people who voted for him, yes, he was the deserving winner.

Also, I'm talking about the vast majority of the public who probably don't have a dancing background. I'm aware that you have a dancing background and you see things that lay folk don't see. For this, I trust your opinion. But sometimes for the viewer at home is more entertaining to see Chris Hollins doing the caterpillar and pulling faces than seeing a perfect technically executed dance.

Agree with this. I wasn't a Chris fan but can relate to your point as last year my favourite was Alison Hammond and loved the way Aljaz choreographed clever and funny routines for her. When a celeb lacks technique and has less talent then performance is the way to go and if they commit themselves to delivering on this then good for them.

Luckily, more often than not, that sort of attitude just an aberration. If I want to see freestyling I'll watch Got to dance

Yes I agree. I liked Anita because I like her work ethic. I know some people didn't like her for that reason, but on the other hand, I can see why some people would like her.

Yes she should have been even if she didn't win. I would have liked to have seen Jay, Georgia, Anita and maybe Helen although I didn't have an opinion on her but for me she would have been a better choice than Kellie or Katie.

Thank you for understanding, I kind of thought that I wasn't making much sense there.

But the point I was trying to make is, was he a less deserving winner? He won, therefore for the people who voted for him he was the "deserving winner". As we have this discussion every year with every winner: for his supporters, he is the "deserving" winner; for supporters of other couples, he is just the winner, but not deserving.

I agree, realise I look at the show differently - I always want the dancing to win but I actually enjoyed Chris's dancing he did make me laugh, similarly I really loved Jeremy this year

Usually around the time our old favourite 'real winner' makes its annual appearance

most of my dance friends loved Jeremy too he is the type of contestant that is good for business - not a great dancer but expressing the fun of dancing and learning to dance

No you're not. Just because you put on a great performance doesn't mean the dancing is great. I preferred Jay and Georgia on the night and over the series.

Nope, you are not the only one

I have said a couple of times that her showdance was not a good Lindy hop it was more of a stompy charleston

I see Lindyhop danced most weekends and danced much better than K&Ks dance was

What Darcey says is irrelevant. Jay won by popular demand.

I still think the judges are miffed that the public didnt do as they were guided (told) to do

maybe if the judges scores were not constantly undermarked or overmarked during the show and the vote off between the bottom two was clear and not prone to 'fix' the public may take notice of them

I dont care what Darcie says but saying after the final just smacks of sourness

Good grief - I think I can agree with this . Why didn't the judges say that (maybe without the Anita for Katie bit )? I think there would have been far less whinging from everyone (myself included).

I think the final missed Helen. I wish she'd been there. Anita I'm not so bothered about - she probably did deserve to edge it over Katie but you can blame the dance choices and the judges for that one!
