That sounds very far fetched. Yes, I think you're right in that the above former boy band member captured a lot of hearts and minds that night but I think you can leave it at that. Those hearts and minds then watched him endeavour to match that iconic moment with varying degrees of success and carried on loving what he did even though it might not have been as perfect as "That Jive". However, I'd say very few of them were that bothered (let alone remained bothered) that said jive did not receive a total perfect score and certainly didn't let it affect the way they regarded the rest of the series.”

I definitely agree there, I for one loved Jay and aliona from the start them not doing that jive at the final really didn't bother me one single bit, I was so happy that they did the paso for their final dance which was a perfect end for their perfect partnership on strictly, I wouldn't really envision anything else to be quite frank. I really don't care that the jive didn't get the 40 it really did deserve because it's the actual dance that matters and how it effected people at that moment that's all, judges paddles I really couldn't give a toss about.

I can see your point.”

But these were only the judges' points, not the general public, which always has the final say! And quite rightly too.

Strongly disagree with everything you just wrote, in my opinion he can't reach perfection because he is not a professional dancer so that point just flew out the window, secondly that week 3 jive was not because he got lucky, and if by lucky you mean theming and music then that can be said about Georgia and her Charleston which I might be in the minority here I didn't really like it much but I'm ready for the bashing to begin, aliona produced a magnificent piece of choreography that Jay and herself nailed it was perfection in my eyes.. To say he was lucky is a bit downgrading on the lad. And to the people who were watching him dance and who weren't seeking for him to perform perfectly on the night I think enjoyed him and aliona dance the most because they and I were just enjoying them both dance together and each performance and routine they sold maybe not to your standards but your standards are quite high let's be honest and truthful here. But each Saturday night they created magic that is why they won because they were the most consistent..that's all.

I think it all depends what you look for in a dancer.

You may be right about Jay not achieving the consistency of Kellie, for example. She made fewer mistakes as the series progressed and Jay still made a few here and there, but I do think the perfection of the week 3 jive is a spanner in the works, in the sense that expectation was stupidly high and I think that pressure probably scuppered the QS the following week. If you remove the high of the jive and the low of the QS, then Jay made steady progress throughout. Kellie was technically very strong from the beginning and mostly nailed her choreography, but something she never achieved (imo, naturally) was any lyricism or a real connection to the dances. Her Oompah VW was an exception (absence of much actual VW notwithstanding ).

I could 'appreciate' what she was doing, but I never 'felt it' when she danced. It was all a little clinical and 'acted'. Jay said after the final that Kellie was a perfectionist and would have been thrilled to have nailed her finals dances; Kevin and she repeatedly spoke about 'throwing everything at it'; they worked hard on technique; but unfortunately, it often seemed more like sport than dance, so while she deserves credit for her hard work and commitment, without the poetry, she could never be a complete dancer for me.
