Is there any way to switch off the recording alerts banner that emerges into the top of the screen and interrupts programmes. I find it irritating.

Thanks,

Jeff

I guess that the constant reminding that it is simply recording what you asked it to record is non optional. I wish they would delete this irritant.

I found it annoying when I first got the box. Two years later I barely notice.

As if the bright red light on the box itself is not sufficient indication that a recording has started as expected.

I don't find it irritating at all, it often reminds me that I'd set something to record ages back that I'd forgotten about!

Plus how long do the alerts stay on screen for, three or four seconds? It's just a thin strip at the top of the picture, and it doesn't obscure your current viewing. It's hardly a big deal.

I don't mind the banner coming up telling you that it's starting to record a programme.

It's amazing, the things that irritate people. That little banner is only there for a few seconds. Being narrow, with white lettering on a black background, it could only be less intrusive if it wasn't there at all. As it is, I find it useful.

I didn't think I'd ever noticed it but on reflection, it probably happens. They won't change it unless there are a lot of complaints about it and as most people barely notice it, well...
