I wonder if that is a record for the show I cant remember any couple dominating the Front Pages like that. Some achievement.

But what on earth is there left to say?? Surely every permutation of the shagging / not shagging / wishful shagging / robbers / not robbed / wish they'd been robbed in the light of such unsavoury attention storylines has been exhausted?

As long as they keep getting the hits, the tabs will keep regurgitating crap about them.

You mean like some threads on this forum?

I loved the one in the Mail about Aliona, "Beauty in Love Riddle Walks Out of Show."

I think I should quote it somewhere as if I believe it to be true.

Good grief. There are rags, and then there are rags.

Hell, even The Sun seems to have moved on, according to that link. Then again, they've moved on to equally cheap, disgusting rumor-mongering, but still.

I am mostly disappointed that Strictly is not on the front page of the Financial Times.

The tabloids don't care how stupid their headlines and innuendo looks at this stage- certainly proves a person cannot belief a word or the slant that those rags put on a story.
Common sense shows that Aliona would want to leave while at the top - she would only get a duffer if back next year.
She goes to the US every year for Xmas as her family live there.
Her husband was at the final and at the wrap party - The Daily Mail finally printed photos this evening of her holding hands with her husband when levying he party on Sat night/Sun morning.

Wonder what Aliona thinks of it all?

After deciding to call it a day, she goes on to win the glitterball (becoming the only pro to win twice) - and then it's portrayed by the media as something... almost grubby or sleazy.

The law of supply and demand. There wouldn't be so much press coverage of them if people weren't SO eager to read them. Simple.
And yes. . ..this has to be a record. Even abbey/Aljaz & Ben/Kristina didn't get that much press coverage.

I have never seen a strictly article about a pro or contestant get that many comments on the dailymail. Usually it's for celebrities like the Kardashians. The article about the after party pics had 1800 comments ; the one about Aliona leaving many comments as well; so yes like another FM said as long as the tabloids keep getting hits, these stories won't stop anytime soon .

It's Aliona. She probably did her patented eyeroll and went off to roll around in all her money.

I found the one about her quitting the UK funny in its hyperbole. She's just gone on her Xmas hols!

There's no publicly that's bad publicity.

I laughed at that. It was on the front of the Star. Apparently she is moving to the USA to be with her husband. I dont think she will find him there. They live in London. You couldnt make it up.

Its ridiculous even though Jay cleared it up on Lorraine interview like he said they will continue will write what they want even if its a lot of rubbish which these headlines are

I reckon that Aliona did the tweet from America just to see what the papers would report. Light the blue touch paper and retire

Shes probably having a good laugh about it.

That horse of a non story been so flogged to death that it's been beaten into the floor. Never has so much been said about so little. I just don't get it TBH.

Well except that I will concede that Jay is hugely popular and maybe they can't find much else on him to write about so they want to keep him in the papers.

Plus I think that there's a certain amount of wish fulfillment desire in a small section of the audience.

Are any of you old enough to remember how much everyone wanted Torvill and Dean to be a couple? Don't worry, Jay and Aliona, in about fifteen years people will accept the friendship for what it is.

I always thought that someone like Comic Relief should do a secret project where they get random famous people to take part and to sell stories to the tabloids about them.

Maybe even fake things a bit to make it more saucy.

Mystery woman seen leaving back door of single male's house, rumours it was married female celebrity X.

Married male celebrity Y is photographed chatting with a female celebrity in a beach resort overseas - papers call his wife who says "I have no idea where he is"

Nobody actually needs to lie - you just make differing, true, statements.
Male celebrity says "I am just here filming"
Female Celebrity says "I am just here for a break"
Male celeb's Wife does not know which actual hotel he is staying in, so is not lying - however a sleazy tabloid can make all sorts of stuff up around those statements

Always wondered how many millions you could raise for charity by doing that.

True, but it will do him no harm. He's not the one who's married, nor do the circumstances as I described in my post apply to him. If anything, it could be said he's punching above his weight and the tabloids love that.

Well all the headlines are " old news" now, we all knew before.

Just different context on each paper shoeing how " made up" it all is.

It's Christmas, not a lot of news going on, so thry have to fill the papers somehow.

Each article is a contradiction on prior articles or other paper articles.

Only the gullible believe the tabloids.

No, Jay isn't married, but he does have a girlfriend, I believe. Depending on how well she takes this, it could do him harm. I'm sure she didn't bargain on all this.
