Thanks for posting the solution to the problem re the vids on the BBC site.
Re-reading the thread in the other forum, it looks as if it might be affecting anyone who has upgraded to 49.0.2.

For info, I have had a couple of issues with Firefox which I have solved, though I don't know how long standing they were. etc ectc.
I've been looking for a solution to this problem for a week or so. Seems the Flash plugin and the Open H264 video codec plugin clash with each other. That meant I was turning having to turn flash off when not needed, even 'Ask to activate' didn't work.
Obviously it's rarely used these days, but was a pain having to go through the rigmarole when it was.
The fix you linked to has cured the problem, so, thanks VM...

Ive just realised, im still on the old uBlock, which is an older fork, and hasn't been updated since last year, so just installed the newest one, uBlock Origin, i was wondering why it hadn't been updated for a bit

Firefox 50 is not compatible with Trusteer Rapport (or vice versa). I've been using Rapport ever since I got a banking virus, and the RBS tech guy said Rapport would fix it - all the usual MBam etc didn't detect the virus (think it was called Shylock).

Anyhow, there's limited Rapport/Edge support so I'm using Edge in the meantime for banking, Amazon, Ebay etc. PITA.

It's probably Rapport that's not compatible, they take ages to update their software to catchup.
The banks push Rapport, but it's generally disliked and not all it's cracked on to be.
My bank keeps flagging it up, but, no thanks....

Installing Rapport is a big no,no.
First off ,upon installation it asks to stop your antivirus. !!!!
Once installed it encrypts your details then stores it with a server somewhere !!!!

Does anyone know if there is a way of configuring the desktop version of Firefox so that it has the same numerical tab icon seen on the Android version? I find this very useful when "culling" open tabs.

'Check plugins are up to date' has disappeared for me.

Edit: I see there is a cog there now, may have been there all along ?

Installing Rapport is a big no,no.
One day I went to log on to RBS to check my balance and it said 'account locked' or similar. After contacting RBS it turned out that my pc had a banking virus - Shylock IIRC - it was detected during login because the virus was hidden in a cookie. The RBS tech guy explained that I should install Rapport. I installed Rapport and tried to logon to RBS and Shylock was detected and removed. After a reboot, I could access my account again. I had visions of my little nest egg being stolen, but all was good.

I always have Rapport active in my browser when doing internet banking, Amazon, PayPal, EBay etc, and my life savings are still intact.

Obviously, your mileage may vary . . .

My wife gets nagged to install it every time she logs in. It had a bad name some years ago like slowing the computer and was shown at one of those black hat conventions as easily hacked.
On reading up about it those problems may not be as bad now but still we will leave it alone.

Finding Firefox 50.X the worst update in a long time. Get frequent crashes of tabs, and alternating between them is sluggish. Often tabs\pages will refresh again completely (first with that grey spinning circle) when I open them. These issues are across three different systems.

In my experience recent releases have resulted in Firefox becoming a less stable, slower and more prone to becoming unresponsive or hanging browser.
