Still 26.9 here on the coast of West Sussex, I'm loving it.
The best bit about holidays abroad are the long warm nights.
Many places (not all I know) abroad are long warm not so humid nights though, with air conditioning

It's 24 degrees here in Bath.

I hate the greasy feel of the stuff. I should know better as my mum has had malignant melanoma a decade ago. I don't set out to deliberately catch the sun on my skin anymore though.
I'm the same - I'm very pale and burn easily but I also sweat an amazing amount (even in regular temperature) and so the cream clogs up my pores, I get hotter and sweat even more, the cream just running off me. So I don't bother with it and I just avoid the sun, which I'm no big fan of (probably because I spent so many years sunburnt living abroad as a kid ).

It's raining and 21c. Put my hand out and it is like there is no air, very thick.

Love the warm days but don't think I could stick these warm nights if our climate was like this.

I had been looking forward to the thunderstorm and cooler temps that's been forecast over night for this past few days.

Its not even rained let alone thunder and its still bloody 20c at 6.30am here in Northern Ireland.

We've got an outdoor thermometer in our garden, at 6pm last night after a couple of hours in full sun it had reached 44c, it only goes up to 50! Even now, in full shade and after hours of nighttime when it should plummet, it still reads 25c!

I don't think any records were broken last night, but if not, it was a damn close run thing.

Temperature fell away more quickly in the latter part of the night and continued falling until 8:11 am when it reached 18.3C as fresher air from the south west replaced that horrid stuff we were getting from London and the continent!

That's the latest morning minimum temperature here since 14th. January, or if we convert to GMT, 27th. February. Most unusual, especially in these (still) clear and sunny conditions!

Had some really wet weather here in my part of the central lowlands and some pretty loud rumbles of thunder but it's all cleared. Looks like a not bad afternoon coming up. So much cooler than yesterday too which is a blessing

Temperature has just hit 30c here again.

The sky had clouded considerably an hour ago leaving me thinking a storm was brewing but has now become clear blue again, so any potential storms are some way off yet, if at all in central England like has been anticipated.

Raining this morning in Glasgow and the iPhone weather apps all predicted showers and rain all today.

Rain went and it's hot and sunny now. Weather apps have revised their forecasts

29.6 C here in S Hants. They were forecasting 25 C at Southampton last night but no, another scorcher! A scorcher in SW-W winds (since early this morning), well I can't recall that happening before down here, it usually needs winds from the N to E for that. Mind you, I notice that the wind has dropped so that's probably it - had to check that my thermo screen fan is working!

Does anybody know what happened to the Thunderstorms which were supposed to be happening in Cheshire?. We had huge CAPE values predicted right over the top of us for last night and today indicated on the image below

https://postimg.org/image/sagfy1sj5/

Some on the weather forums were labeling this as 'spectacular', but we haven't even seen a drop of rain or heard a distant rumble.

The 22c predicted for today by the Met office has now been revised to a more accurate 26c at 15.00 - so much for the 'fresher conditions' that are / were supposed to be sweeping in!.

they are well away up north and northeast. you were unlucky to miss them judging by the radar earlier this morning.

hot humid morning gave way to a sunnier fresher afternoon behind a bank of cloud that im guessing was the actual cold front passing overhead at lunchtime.

its still very nice, 27c but thats 5 c lower then yesterday, fresher and breezier.

Huge storm activity now over West Norfolk running into Lincolnshire. A line of what look like really violent storms with very frequent lightning.

Rumbling thunder in Suffolk and about three spots of rain. I'm melting, it's really muggy.

I've long believed the world record temperature to be 58c way back in 1922 in Libya, according to my old Guinness Record books. However it seems that this was recently disqualified and the new highest is 56.7c at Death Valley, California in 1913.

With so much said about globally rising temperatures, and June 2016 was apparently the hottest month ever globally, yet again, but Death Valley hasn't managed to surpass its highest temperature from over a century ago yet. Just saying!

Nor, here in the UK, have we got anywhere near the September maximum of 35.6C reached at Doncaster on 2nd September 1906. In fact we haven't had a 32C in September since 1949.

The latest date on which 32C has been reached was on 19th September 1926 - 32.2 at Camden. Nowhere near that in recent decades.

The June record nearly went last year though, with Heathrow surpassing the Southampton record for June of 35.6 ... on July 1st! There's a lot of luck involved in getting high temperature records late in May or June, or early in September or October but one by one, slowly but surely, the records will tumble.

Part of the problem is the use of old style passive louvred wooden screens in the last Century, these (including Stevenson screens) are known to produce artificially high air temperatures by up to 2 degrees C or so, sometimes more, in conditions of hot sunny weather with light winds. Many of these worldwide are slowly being replaced by better screen designs such as, for example, aspirated automatic weather station screens and even passive plastic screens are a bit 'better', so records aren't always directly comparable with the olden days.
