It's not pedantry for goodness sake, I clicked on what you said, the main weather page. How would you expect anyone to know you were looking at the local London weather page until you posted the link? Seriously, I tried to help and I got nothing but grief. For the last time, the interactive BBC map you mentioned isn't down, it's either something more local to you and anyone else who has that issue, or it's intermittent (the hardest kind to resolve).
No, you don't get it.... The main weather page map is down also for me. And blueblade above.

It's irrelevant whether it's the interactive map on the local weather page or the interactive map on the main weather page. I'd wager it's more likely the BBC are behind with their flash versions/coding updates on their apps than anything local. Ergo: people gradually roll out latest flash updates or whatever>app stops working for more and more people (until the app is updated at source). Seen it before enough times..

And stop worrying about me calling you pedantic - take a look at your posting style. I don't think you come across how you want to come across.

So why don't we try to work out what's actually going on? That might help those people you mention.

I'm using Firefox 48.0.2 on Windows 8.1 via my BT Infinity connection, but the BBC interactive weather maps on the national and local weather pages also work correctly for me using IE 11 and Chrome. Also works correctly in W 10 using Edge, and Windows 7 using Firefox 45.0.1 (haven't updated that one recently).

Thank you!

It does happen every now and then, but usually within a few hours they fix it. It's just surprising to see it down for so long this time.

Perhaps they haven't tested it with the latest flash versions that people have on their computers? Mine are always up to date. I could try rolling back to an older flash version I guess.

It's not exactly important or anything so probably not worth it. I'll just wait and see.
It works fine (well, I assume it's doing what it usually does, not having used it before) on my Android tablet with Firefox. And that doesn't support flash at all. So I assume it's rendering using HTML5.

Blueblade, can you confirm if it's working for you now? For the first time in 4 days it's working for me, both in Firefox and Chrome.

Nothing's changed on my PC today so I can only assume they updated some aspect of it at their end this afternoon.

The only other possible explanation is BT Broadband accidentally blocking it (or the type of application) for customers these last few days? Although, seems unlikely.

Helluva storm passed through the South Midlands (Banbury) this afternoon. Lightning for over an hour, strong winds and heavy rain.

the outlook is good - if you like sunny warm dry weather...

the anomaly charts, whilst dont suggest a lengthy settled spell, do suggest a lot of high pressure to our south then over europe. great news for the southeast that look like getting more heat or sunny warmth at least. the northwest will be coolest, cloudiest, wettest, windiest.

but for most of england/wales the first half of september is looking pretty decent, and we could well get another mini heatwave.

I'd had just 16mm up until late Sunday afternoon - then it darkened and the heaven's opened and doubled my August rainfall in an hour or so with 15mm falling. Now on 31mm for the month. My area did seem to have a few near misses of seriously heavy downpours in recent days including during Saturday especially when I got nothing more than a glancing blow from a major storm.

As far as the weather pages that have not been working for our indignant poster all I can say is that I've been having absolutely no problems with them at all and they've been working perfectly with my Windows 7 and IE 11 browser on my laptop.

I'm looking forward to a settled and bright September ahead, I hope. I'm always optimistic about the month of September more than any other in the calendar.

I wasn't angry at receiving unfair treatment. That makes it sound like was absolutely raging. What a bizarre comment

I was just reporting that it was down for a few days and sure enough it was down for someone else on here as well. Now it's back up again.

Absolutely superb day today, and looks like continuing all week, with temperatures rising.

Azores high influencing our weather quite strongly, especially, of course, in the South.

Can't knock it !!!

Met office website forecast for the next 7 days in Southampton is for lower temperatures than today: 24 (today), 22, 20, 19, 19, 19, 19.

But these specific site temperature forecasts are usually wrong, thought I'd post it so I can see how well they do. Today is spot on, as they automatically update forecasts with current readings as they arrive.

Just looking outside at the trees and bushes - absolute flat calm. Not a trace of movement.

Quite unusual.

It's lovely up here, North of Hadrian's Wall, 20c or so today, sunny with a stiff breeze too.

HEATWAVE NEXT WEEK?....

for several days now the anomaly charts have suggested high pressure will be close to our near southeast, but keeping us in a mobile southwesterly upper flow.

that however does allow for a transient hot blast off the continent again and this mornings operational runs now agree with the anomaly charts that we could have a mini heatwave next tuesday - thursday.

probably be shortened though, as the upper air flow looks too mobile to me to sustain a lengthier spell.

Let's hope so. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Meanwhile, Jay Wynne has just drawn attention to this video presented by Sarah Keith-Lucas, regarding a tropical storm in the gulf of Mexico, strengthening to a hurricane, before it makes landfall in Northern Florida. Interesting.

Despite the cloud over much of England and Wales today, it has actually been a degree or two warmer than expected, with temperatures fairly uniform from South to North. Something in the order of 19 or 20 degrees quite widely.
