Did I say Frodsham? I said we're *near* Frodsham.
Our car thermometer on the drive is saying it's currently 9c and our one in the shed says 10c, so I wouldn't go off the internet. You do realise that you can get wildly different temperature variations in the same town dependent on all sorts of factors, don't you? As I said, just leave it. I don't know why you think I'd lie about this - what would be the point? Current readings show temperatures in your neck of the words to be around 13 or 14C - link Sorry, but your assertions are simply not credible. |

Hawarden was 12 C at 11pm and this place in N Cheshire is 11 https://www.wunderground.com/persona...d?ID=INORLEYA2 - Cheshire is generally between 11 and 13 C. Car thermometers are often inaccurate, mine reads 1 deg C too low, and also they can be partly exposed to the open air and radiation cooling which makes it worse. So his shed temperature could be less than a degree out if he's outside the main town. Thought we were discussing last night's ground minimum though.

His shed temperature has either been misread or misinterpreted. It's not 10C. I'd bet my house on that. |

I've posted the actual readings for Frodsham. It's currently 13C there.

re frostgate...
surely for a frost to form inside a garage it would have to be several degrees colder outside... 0c inside = -3c outside. |

Cloudy and now turning very windy here this morning. The Southerly winds however mean it is forecast to get up to 18C today.
Tommorow the dry spell we've been having looks to end and more rain is forecast for next week. Hi's will be around 13-16C and the lowest minmum temperature is forecast to be 8C. Still not cold enough for any frost and temperatures remaining moderately warm enough for the time of year so can't complain too much. Observations from Bingley show another mild night with temperatures not dropping below double figures: https://goo.gl/photos/e7pcfofP6UNQxg896 No chance of frost just yet.... |

Makes sense about thermometers. I didn't put it there, it was in the shed when we bought the house and I just kept it there. It may very well have been higher than 10c, but I was just going off what it said.
As for 'frostgate' like I said, it probably wasn't due to how cold it was but the car was still very wet when we put it in the garage, and as the garage is cool anyway, it wasn't warm enough to dry the car and so it turned quite slushy. No such issues this morning even though it's about the same temperature. |

Though the morning and evening were cool, yesterday was a lovely sunny day here in Bath. The air was clear, a hint of coolness in the gentle breeze - it was t-shirt weather for sure in the middle of the day. A lovely day it was indeed, a perfect Autumn day although it'd have made a good summer day too!
Can't tell what it's like outside yet although it looks sunny with a bit of hazy cloud - hard to tell temperature as it's always cold in my living-room until the sun comes around this way. Forecast is for 20 today. A wet week is coming, according to the Met. |

I've been outside now, it's breezy but a very balmy breeze, muggy. Now clouding over. Reminds me of Christmas Day - that was balmy too!

Well I made a huge blunder. I don't know why I got it in my head that I had scraped the frost off my car in the garage. It was my girlfriend's car outside that had the frost on it, she just confirmed it.
Stupid muddled brain. |

Another very pleasant and warm day here in the South East with my thermometer currently reading 21.7C, bit of a breeze, and mostly sunny.
Better make the most of it as Autumn is round the corner. |

It's a weird one here. No sun in the sky and quite breezy, but still warm. I tried to have a nap before but couldn't get to sleep because it was too warm. I expect it'll be different tomorrow though as we're forecast rain.

Think back to December 2015, we had the same setup, South Westerly's plus lots of wind and rain. Only difference was instead of being 17/18C like today it was about 11/12C because it was, well, December.. |

Midnight temperature here in S Hants ahead of the rain was 19.7 deg C!
![]() It was only 21 all yesterday afternoon! As the wind direction has just veered to the south and SSW from SE, and if the forecast is correct, we have a possible exact midnight maximum temperature for the 25th. here - in September! I record for each calendar day starting at midnight. Unusually, the temperature slowly increased from 8pm (19.0) until exactly midnight (19.7) then started to slowly decrease; it's now 19.4. Little things like this fascinate me.

looking like we might get a short lived settled spell early next week (8 days time) as an anticyclone crosses the uk. anomaly charts though dont allow for this feature to build and last long. but if you like crisp sunny days, chilly misty nights possibly foggy in places, then next mon-weds looks like youll be in luck!
before then its an unsettled, mobile mix of generally cooler autumnal unsettled weather but there is a warm blip midweek. |

The BBC is forecasting continued warm (for this time of year) weather in London for the next few days, mostly around 20 degrees. This September will surely go down as one of the warmest we have had down here.

If the forecast is correct, I could well see a maximum at 00:00h BST and a minimum at 23:59 or thereabouts, which is not uncommon in winter but is unusual for September. |

Indeed, according to this which isn't the official CET, but close to it, the mean so far this September is 18.17C, which is not just phenomenal, but fair staggering
![]() Obviously, it will fall in the next 2 weeks, but if we get any more warmth, especially continued night time warmth, the month may still end as the warmest September on record. As to when it last happened - well 1729 had an overall September mean of 16.55C, and 1949 a mean of 16.3C, so maybe one of those two. I understand that the mean for 1729 was derived from daily records, adjusted to the Gregorian, from the old 11 days different, Julian calendar, which was in use until 1752. Quote:

We may not beat 1729, but I think we might beat 1949 by a whisker. |
