Doubt we're going to see that round here. We're very chilly this morning and I hope it stays that way to be honest, I'm sick of the hot weather.

Actually looks like a very reasonable day today, with good sunny spells. Possibly low 20's in some areas.
Dull, gloomy, rainy, miserable and depressing sums it up here. Got up at 8am and wondered if we had fast forward to December as it was so gloomy. Needed lights on in the house all day. Feels like Winter.. The funny thing is that according to the weather its currently 17/18C here, but it certainly doesn't feel like it, it was only 16.5C in the living room yesterday and it is still only 17C today, so just like that other poster claimed that their garage was colder than outside, same could go for my house! I was fine in a T-shirt at College today but now I've got home I've had to put a sweatshirt on as this gloomy weather is making me feel tired and cold. |

It's funny how 21.5C in my house feels completely different to 21.5C end of August (which it was at certain times of the day back then).
Feels really chilly now in comparison. But it's the exact same room temperature. |

That's not too bad then, although I suppose it's a bit hit and miss, as where we are is quite flat compared to the surrounding area, so we get the worst of any wind usually. The winds seem to be really picking up here at the moment.

Not here its not...
Dull, gloomy, rainy, miserable and depressing sums it up here. A mere 20.3 here S Hants, clouding over with light drizzle by mid evening but otherwise a pleasant late September day. |

It's been a muggy one today, considering how much cooler it's been the last few days. A bit of rain tonight.

It's probably a combination of your body getting used to the warmer temperatures and the fact it isn't nearly as humid now, plus the sunshine isn't around as long. When you had the sun until 8pm, it probably made things feel warmer.
For example in the Summer 13-16C would feel quite cool but now it feels quite warm/mild to me. |

You were very unlucky. 23.6 deg C at Rostherne, near Manchester Airport though! 2nd warmest official site in the UK! No rain either.
A mere 20.3 here S Hants, clouding over with light drizzle by mid evening but otherwise a pleasant late September day. Up until about 6pm, we hadn't seen any blue sky all day, just complete blanket Grey cloud. We also got some heavy rain mid-late morning. It did clear up about an hour before sunset thanks to the strong winds (and there is a yellow wind warning in place by the met office for heavy gales in Scotland and Northern England. Just goes to show how much wetter and gloomier it is up in the Lancashire/Cumbria hills. We seem to get a lot of that damp, cloudy, drizzly Atlantic frosh type weather. |

Yes, you'll really notice the strength of the wind over the next couple of days.
It's even worse in Scotland. My sister-in-law lives not far from Inverness and they've got severe weather warnings for there, the winds are predicted to get up to 60mph in the middle of the night. |

Windy and some very heavy showers today. The strong winds have made the weather very changeable and near constant rain showers, some light, some very heavy.
It was absolutely battering it down about 5 minutes ago and now it's all cleared up and the sun is peeking between two clouds. However give it a few minutes and it'll be raining again... |

I've just found what appears to be a genuine holiday booking website for people who want a holiday in the rain..... Quote:

quite a lengthy settled spell coming up, as expected and predicted by the anomaly charts long before the operational runs picked up on it.
sunday onwards itll be mainly dry, calm, settled, warm or very warm in any sun but cloud is likely to be an issue especially in eastern areas when theres an easterly component to the airflow. this will last for at least a week, probably longer. |

Remaining quite pleasant with some sunny spells so far. Just had one brief shower around lunchtime. Remaining temperate at about 12/13C.
I like how the sun isn't as high at this time of year - when it does shine it looks and feels better rather than in mid-summer when it's beaming down on everything and unlike early Spring the leaves are still on the trees.

There's no obvious reason I can see to prevent some days next week reaching up to 19 - 22 deg C in parts of the south. Not dry, far from it, maybe quite windy at times too, but I wouldn't describe it as an 'autumnal' prediction yet in the south, due to the likely temperatures on some of the days.
But this is the time of year when forecasting even 5 days ahead can become very tricky. What happens to tropical storm Karl and its track could well decide things, and we don't yet know enough about that. Quote:
those temps in the south are possible within a warm sector, but in a breezy often overcast muggy type day as opposed to clearer, sunnier, calmer conditions.
but for most of the country it will be cooler and certainly autumnal in any polar maritime air . i do think your 19 - 22 c will be a rare, localised event. Sun 25th: UK Max 21.0; 17 UK official SYNOP sites 19 or above. Mon 26th: UK Max 19.5; 3 UK official SYNOP sites 19 or above. Tue 27th: UK Max 21.9; 19 UK official SYNOP sites 19 or above. Wed 28th: UK Max 24.2; 72 UK official SYNOP sites 19 or above. Thu 29th: UK Max 21.4; 32 UK official SYNOP sites 19 or above. Fri 30th: UK Max 19.9; 7 UK official SYNOP sites 19 or above. Sometimes, it's useful to see how forecasts for 'next week' turn out. They don't always work out as expected! |

P*ssed it down here for about an hour at 3ish but was clear the rest of the day. Brisk outside but warm enough in the sun and warmed up my man-cave at the back of the house nicely. Tomorrow night could be a cold one, we're predicted to drop to about 5/6 degrees in the night. Seems we're not going to get much higher than 16 next week, and I expect that'll only be in the sunshine.
![]() The forecast for rain all day Saturday has changed some what, I've checked the forecast for tommorow and no rain is forecast according to BBC Weather, with some others predicting a little rain. As always with the weather, we'll just have to wait and see... |
