One thing that I am really looking forward to in the weeks ahead is the weather for December 2016 after the ridiculously mild one we had last year. I'm fascinated to see how it will compare. I'm automatically expecting a quite cold one but that's just human nature to do so. No reason it could not be just the same as the one in 2015, or milder. With global warming I am wondering just how long it is going to be before we get the UK's first daytime maximum hitting 20c (68f) in December. It doesn't seem that unrealistic to expect.

I think its probably unlikely that this December will be as as warm (or as wet for that matter) as last year since it is widely believed that the unusually high temperatures were caused by a very strong el nino (the strongest on record) which warmed up the ocean temperatures considerably and thus affected the gulf stream.
As far as i know El nino has dissapeared now and we're expecting neutral or weak La Nina conditions this Winter.
However, we can't rule the possibility of a mild winter out completely, and of course the other months - January, February, March, April - could well be warmer than last year. We had a mild winter 06/07 and we had LA Nina conditions that year.
I remember we got Snow as late as late April last year...
