Will the EE Christmas domantion contuine this year
Pretty sure EE have won most of the Xmas day specials with Corrie over years , looking at big twos previews I say EE has the better option but suppose nowadays catch up , plus 1 and record available will mean everybody can watch what they want whenever
Far cry from 80/90s EE domantion isn't it ? Which one is favourite this year then ? |

The days of EastEnders being the most watched thing on Christmas Day with over 10 million viewers are over, but I'd say it will win out of all the soaps.

I am definitely watching emmerdale and corrie as the bbc has nothing on I want to watch.
I am undecided re eastenders but think I am going to opt for downton abbey and watch eastenders on iplayer sometime in the future |

I personally hope EE does win, as it sticks two fingers up to their doubters, as the show is doing OK. Would you rather the Birkwood or Newman era? DTC may not be perfect, but he has put LIFE back into the show.
Corrie missed a chance with Callum's body being discovered or Callum actually being alive and massacring the Platts or assaulting Kylie on Christmas Day. The twee, safey-safey crap because we don't want to offend the coffin dodgers needs to stop. |

After Itvs much criticised 60 anniversary celebration in which they showed 2 hours of soaps they show every week (BBC celebrated their 60th with a night of retro programmes ) so ITV could shown clips from 60 years instead to show two shows they show every weekday which I gather had very low ratings so people having go at Beeb should bear that in mind

I'm not saying EastEnders is or isn't performing well, but winning one night by a few thousand extra viewers doesn't mean it's "doing OK" at all.

I hope all the soaps do well as they have been going for decades but EastEnders especially as it always makes a great effort especially at christmas.

I may change my mind yet or I may be that drunk I forget and watch but I don't like the way eastenders are treating their viewers so it is not a must see anymore for me

EastEnders scraped through this year, but I reckon it was more to do with the competition from the last ever Downton, than it was from the popularity of it's rivals, Emmerdale was well below 5million and Corrie was in the mid 5m bracket, without any real competition.
In terms of soaps, EastEnders is always the biggest of the day. It will be interesting to see if Coronation Street changes gears next year and opts for a more dramatic, salacious festive storyline. |
