Excruciatingly poor imo. Some things of his I like but this was just unfunny and tedious.

So even the Great British bakeoff sketch didn't once make you laugh?
Well I quite liked this. Joanna Lumley was a revelation. Showed she could be versatile. I also liked the BBC product placement and autocorrect sketches.
It was a great sketch show, I feel sorry for the " I gave it five minutes" club, they missed a heck of a lot, everyone should watch a show through before giving an instant judgement. Do all shows have to have an impact in less than five minutes, or we loose attention.

The makings of a good comedy show - just not funny enough. Loved the two overt Two Ronnies sketches though, and Joanna Lumley's self parody. Bake Off sketch made me cringe.

It shouldn't have been a revelation that she's got chops.

Some of the sketches overstayed their welcome and lost their bite, needed some tightening up.
Bakeoff sketch, I had to mute it, that was just ewwww, I don't even watch Bake off.
Oh I know she's got chops - I just didn't realise that they were quite so big.

I gave it 15mins, that should be more than enough time to gauge whether a comedy sketch show is to my liking or not.

Dramas for example require much more time to develop until you can get a decent feel for them, so save your sneering for those types please, better yet, stop sneering altogether.

Well I thought that was rather good in an old school sketch show way! (Auto correct; Ruined Quiz show; Creepy Selfie bloke; Wilde as a crude gag merchant; all of the Lumleys) I liked Walliams in the first few series of Little Britain (thought it went rapidly downhill later...) and Joanna Lumley is always worth watching and quite happy to rip the pee out of herself. Morganna's great too. (RIP House of Fools.) Not bad at all. I'd give a series a look...

I agree needs a full series, those missing the full program missed a Christmas treat there.

Well you know you, to me it's a bit shame, a new show, never been on before, and got better and better, you missed 25 minutes of great comedy.

Lol, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

If it's repeated at some point I promise to watch the whole thing, just for you. Okay?

Without jumping to conclusions, if you dont watch bakeoff it would potentially lessen the appreciation of that sketch.
I dont watch Bake Off myself, but have a bit of awareness of what the characters are like. I enjoyed it and overall thought that this was a good show, well worth taking the time to watch the way through.

I never thought I would ever hear myself say this but David Walliams and Joanna Lumley make a good double act. She, especially, was a revelation. Great actress and very good timing.

I would like to see a full series, myself.

my personal gauge as to whether something is funny / has 'worked' for me is whether i laugh out loud at least once or twice.

i didn't.

I find David Walliams a bit hit and miss, so wasn't expecting to enjoy this, but I gave this a go because I like Joanna Lumley and was pleasantly surprised. I found it very funny in an old school kind of way. Obviously, some sketches were funnier than others, but on the whole I found it more hit than miss.

I did. Many times. I especially loved the "finish each others ....wine" couple. Great stuff!

90% crap. Apart from the Bake Off and the multiple Joanna Lumleys sketch the rest was painful to watch.

Dont wanna sound too much like a pseudo on this one, but was it a very clever send up of those loans advertisements, where they offer to lend you funds to the level of #5,000 and with an interest rate of potentially 1000%,, you would need to pay them back #90,000 at the full term?

But even with pseudo mode on or off, it was still a good sketch.

Yes, I enjoyed it, made me think of the sending gold off worth £100s and getting £30 back.

I thought all the cast were fantastic - aside from David Walliams. He wasn't bad, he was good but the others outshone him. He's always David Walliams, but with a silly voice and/or a catchphrase. It's why I never liked Little Britain; too much reliance on catchphrases. (I know people will argue that it's all about the setting but it never worked for me.) The selfie character was already becoming annoying, but the final punchline saved it. I hope we never see that character again.

I guess the name suggests he'll try and do a series with a different guest each week.

By the way, did the sketch where Joanna Lumley was cutting up her cheating husband's clothes etc. remind anyone of the sketch she did on Ruby Wax's show about 25 years ago (about a cheating husband)??
