He's allegedly successful as a children's author, but then again he is NOT the next Roald Dahl some people are claiming he is.

I am not under 13, but I find Walliams' books very samey, and some of the running themes like crossdressing and other bizarre things, very odd.

All that aside, his new comedy show is just an exercise in self gratification. Not ours.

Well, I'll not stand here and see Cilla bad mouthed.

Smith has a good enough singing voice for musical theatre [ she is stage school trained after all, ] but she is no pop star, her voice is ordinary, Cilla's was unique, you can't mistake her vibrato.

We must be thankful for small mercies!

I agree. Cilla had a unique "sound". Her voice had a nasal quality that was curiously attractive. Many successful pop stars have less than perfect voices, it's the oddity in their voices that sets them apart.

With respect most pop stars could no more perform on the stage in a proper musical than fly in the air.

I suspect it's the publicity actually.

Roald Dahl's only good children's book was "The Magic Finger".

I actually found myself feeling a bit sorry for Sheridan Smith. She looks to me like she's had lip fillers and maybe even something else done. I hope she didn't feel pressured in some way.

It's affected her delivery IMO, comparing her scenes last night with her earlier work. Her lips permanently jutting out resulted in her slurring a bit. It's all a bit sad really.

As for the episode, it's all just so half-hearted. A few of the sketches had a germ of a good idea, but they're all seriously underwritten.

It's like they simply don't have talented enough writers to fully flesh things out and know what works and what doesn't work. You'd think it was the result of a 6th form drama project, as opposed to a professional comedy production.

Spot on.

I never liked Little Britain nor any of his shows tbh. I find him really weird for a man who is meant to be straight.

He is also a judge on X factor/BGT I think .... Don't get that either.

The top lip is bigger, what posesses them to do something so radical to their appearance ?

I don't get it, she was/is an attractive lass, is it casting directors or her manager that push them them in that direction I wonder .

"Sherry , the role up for grabs is for a 40 year old dirt poor, mother of 11 in 1930s Kansas, what might swing it for you was if you had more fuller lips."

You don't at all come across like a gossiping old biddy on a doorstep.

Generally speaking, the whole series has been a disappointment. I enjoyed the 'Carry On' sketch last night because I uh like the Carry Ons. Other than that... dreadful.

.

Good, because I could tell you stuff about Walliams that would make your pubes straighten.

Actually, like all sketch shows, two thirds of the material is terrible, this is no different, I found myself laughing at one or two lines, the Barbie girl is a well aimed kick in the gonads to C4 and C5 editors who think these attention seeking weirdo nutters are worthy subjects for prime time telly.

Under-written but over-long.

I watched a bit of the Sheridan Smith one, to see if it was as bad as this thread suggested.
"Middle-class Jeremy Kyle" ... saw the start of this, got bored, TV on mute, did something useful, turned round 5 minutes later and it was STILL "Middle-class Jeremy Kyle".

It seems to me that this entire show is doing a "Boaty McBoatface" ... the idea is really funny if you confine it to your imagination, but dreadfully anti-funny once you actually do it.

Those of you with long memories will be able to compare this to "The Stanley Baxter Show", where the IDEAS were amusing, but that's about it.

I know I sound like a broken record, but what happened between Walliams and Lucas? To say it's 'the elephant in the room' is beyond an understatement.

Like what? Its not anything like JS is it? That's all I need to know. because I've always liked walliams. I know people on here have made insinuations based on that they find him creepy. The creepy thing I can understand in part, however I thought I figured out why that is. This is the first time I've heard someone say that they actually know something about him. It just makes me think of when old threads are bumped, and you see obviously old posts with people saying that they know stuff about JS (I don't like to say his name). I really hope not, because even with people on here saying they find him creepy, he doesn't seem like it. I just hope not.

I actually loved this show the most, I laughed at most of the sketches. The ones I can remember not enitially liking is the couple talkshow, the couple on the sofa, the barbie one and the chavs one. But earlier today I realised that the couple talkshow one and the couple sofa one are like my mum and her boyfriend. So they have got a lot more funny to me. I can totally imagine my mum on the sofa talking about her boyfriend adoringly whilst he is sat on the sofa being a slob. I wish I could say the sketch was more of a stretch but it really isn't, if I watch it again that would be all I would be thinking

It was alright. Liked the Carry On influenced sketch, Smith playing the devoted wife of a crisp eating Walliams with his underpants pulled up to his mid-rift and 'Barbie' and 'Ken'. Other stuff was overstretched somewhat. Not *bad*, but rather laboured.

I doubt Walliams will be on Jane Mcdonald's christmas card list this year.

I really liked 'Come fly with me', its more re-watchable than Little Britain.

Episode 3 of this was pretty poor.
