Just like OFAH?

Just watched it and have to disagree with most of the comments on here. I thought it was fantastic. I enjoyed it all the way through.

Was a big fan of the show, but THAT was utterly utterly dreadful.
Shockingly poor.

I actually watched Die Hard just two nights ago so maybe I just got the similarity and got more out of it. I thought it was very well done. Liked the filmic effect. So far the best show I have seen over this Christmas period.

I watched this for the first time as Lee mack was very funny on The One Show recently.

This was dire. I don't think I laughed once.

At least I can cross this off my bucket list as I won't waste my time on it again

I did laugh out loud several times, but on the whole it was a bit dark and a bit scary.

Not Going Out has always been one of my favorite shows with its quick fire humor and
crazy plots but I have to agree with all those that say it has messed up with this Christmas special.

The show felt all wrong. It has lost its way and maybe needs to be put to bed.

Lee Mack was on the radio during the week talking about the show. He said he was writing a new series with Lee and Lucy having children and how that impacts on their life.

If this is the route it takes then I hope that they sharpen the writing and add a few jokes.

Thanks for the memories Lee. The show was great back in the day but I don't hold out much hope for the future.

it wasn't a very good episode imo. The pacing was off and a lot of the jokes didn't land. It had a bit of a live feel to it, since the audience didn't react at all to several jokes.

I did laugh a few times though, so it wasn't all bad. Daisy saying "stand and deliver" made me laugh.

He was on The One Show as well and said, although it hadn't been commissioned yet, he planned to set it 5 years in the future. I just worry it'll try to become Outnumbered or something which will be odd if Hugh Dennis is in both.

I have to say, Sally Bretton was fantastic in the episode. I don't like her in normal Not Going Out, as she doesn't work with the audience well. In this, she got to do some acting without any 'interference' and was brilliant.

Same here. I thought it was very enjoyable and very funny throughout. There are some real humourless misery guts on here.

Or people find different things funny? Does it make you feel better to put people down like that to dismiss their opinions?

As a fan it was hit and miss ...nothing. nothing will ever beat the Camping episode 😆

It's a comedy show, the tone should have been safer and lighter or a more ridiculous homage to Die Hard (shirt off, barefoot walk across baubles) to diffuse the very real situation.

Name calling now, and I'm the unintelligent one? Have you seen every film that came out over 20 years ago? (Cue calls that it was such a massive hit etc.) Some people don't like certain genres, or certain actors (if you can call Bruce Willis an actor - he's a movie star, that's true; actor . . . hmmm??!!) Tell me how I should inform myself to your satisfaction? Should I only watch films that you've watched?? Die Hard may be well regarded as an action film but that's about as far as it goes. If certain people judge other people's intelligence by that one film, then that says more about them than it does me.

Agreed, I have probably seen it but it is very forgettable as are most of Willis' films. I tend to avoid 'action' films, not watched a James Bond one for many years.

I found it a blessed relief to have something shown at Christmas time that wasn't the usual bland, turgid comfort blanket of conformity. I also watched the repeats on Dave last night, which included the sperm donor baster episode – about as far from a Morecombe & Wise Show as you could get.

You could have also popped in a copy of Anal Enema Squirt Sluts volume 27 and that would have been far away from M&W too. What's your point? The usual is the usual for a reason where mainstream broadcast TV is concerned.

I thought this Not Going Out was tone deaf, personally. First up, it just wasn't funny. I watched it 2 days ago and I can't remember a single gag. Secondly, this show has never had much drama and if you suddenly bring in such an intense subject to a comedy you have to have earned it, I.e. One Foot In The Grave always having a sinister edge. This was like if Friends had been off for a year, came back for a special and it was about Ben being targeted by a child molester. Just stupid and badly judged.

The BBC has been looking for an excuse to stop renewing this for ages. I'd say a Christmas special that they didn't feel they could promote, shoved off at 22.45, likely didn't get many viewers and likely drew a few complaints will be all the ammunition they need.

Oh well, we enjoyed it. Obviously not one of the best episodes, but that doesn't mean it was crap. It's just fashionable to complain about everything. The internet was invented for two things... naked ladies and complaining about everything.

Thought It was okay. Gag light, and it dragged somewhat, but still very watchable, although tonally it was a bit all over the place.
