The plots are starting to get too ridiculous and far fetched .

I think it is turning into a top rate comedy. I was roaring with laughter throughout.

I don't think so. Granted, things have gotten a little crazy lately with all thats gone on, but I believe once these storylines reach their conclusions (finally) we will get back to the less over the top twisty and turny stuff (But don't take that as me not enjoying it, I personally have loved the Lucy coverup and Darth Ronnie, but I do still believe there needs to be closure really soon). Christine/Les and Pams relationship, Ben's sexuality, Denise searching for Jordan, Linda's bulimia, the Stacey stuff to name a few... This Bobby and Ronnie/Vincent stuff is constantly reaching new highs of crazy but there will come a point where those stories will come to a close and those mentioned can continue, EastEnders still does non-ridiculous and real-issue based stories. I try not to judge the whole show on one period of time/certain stories as its been running for over 30 years and even if a ridiculous or simply sh*t story/character/era comes along I just grumble until it recovers, I don't think we are in bad American soap opera territory just yet... Maybe if Derek Branning steps out of the shower I'll agree with you aye

EE is no different to any other soap, ALL soaps are ott and far fetched at times, but like other soaps EE do have realistic storylines as well.

I said on here on the night that Bobby was outed as Lucy killer and Jane had lugged/dumped the body that EE had jumped the shark. Add on top the resurrection of Kathy. Said that 50th episode would in future be looked back on as the point at which EE entered Brookside territory. When I posted that 10 months ago I didn't realise how quickly that spiral would take hold.

DTC has killed the show with the Bobby storyline, I don't care what happens to Bobby Ian or Jane anymore and I barely did at the start either.

I am so over the Bobby story. There is nobody left who doesnt know he killed Lucy and an innocent man is in prison for it. By the time the next episode happens they will all have decided Bobby needs to be protected and this stupid story line will continue.

I much prefer Days Of Our Lives to EastEnders or any of the British soap opera

I take it you don't mean the world's best soap operas such as Days or Sunset Beach, but those ones that I have never seen.

At its peak Brookside, was much better than EastEnders

You know I did have that thought during Jane's 'dream sequence' and hammy 'wake up' in last night's episode. It felt very Hollyoaks.

Brookside and EastEnders at their peak were top class. Brookside just lost it's way with ever more outlandish storylines. That's where EE is now.

You think EastEnders may be sowing the seeds of its own destruction like Brookside did?

It's definitely turning into Hollyoaks with things like that, not to mention the show's increasingly casual attitude towards murder.

I hear you. Also, in the last couple of years they've recast several roles with better looking actors.

I think that is only very young and child characters though. I can understand why producers would recast child characters. There are some viewers who think that recasting is better than writing an interesting and useful character out if an actor wants to leave or take a break. In Days Of Our Lives many characters are part of the shenanigansin Salem for 30 years or more, but the actors are recast. Bo has been played by 2 different actors.

They have damaged so many of the characters. It is too dark and violent now.

Totally agree I just hate the way it takes it self so seriously as do some viewers. They need to just fess up to being the new SOAP (US spoof comedy soap)

Yep. The shocks, surprise twists, deaths, gangsters and general sensationalism is just like Hollyoaks over the last couple of years. Ironically EE and HO are now more alike than when Bryan KIrkwood was producing EE.
