DTC had already announced someone was going to die at Christmas. The Christmas special was structured in order to keep people guessing and confused as to who this person is going to be. The episode was filled with plot devices - the who is going to die special. At the end we are left with Denny and the Mystery person in the boot of Vincent car as the two most likely people to die and Phil with incurable cirrhosis.
I found Ronnie suddenly kissing Jack and getting all lovey and dovey with him for the rest of the episode strange. I found Gavin's appearance in the Phil Mitchell household and Sharon getting all lovey dovey with him (the love you dad xxx text) strange - especially after everything Gavin has done including bashing Phil's head in and starting him back on the alcohol. But but but DTC definitely had me gripped. I didn't care about the characters I just wanted to know what the 'eck was going on. |

Getting back to the Vincent non-kidnapping - how on earth could anyone mistake a tall muscular black guy for ... anything else?

I absolutely hated it. It was pointless. It just seemed like your average Summer filler episode rather than a dramatic Christmas one. My 2 year old nephew could have written a more dramatic and thrilling episode where things that changed the characters' lives actually happened. The best parts were seeing Gavin win Sharon over and the car crash and Phil/Ian's scenes. And Bobby hugging Ian after finding out that he really did kill Lucy. You could tell Ian was breaking down more than Bobby in that scene. Quote:

Well I thought the Christmas episode was great, had me trying to figure out various plotlines like Where was Denny after the accident, will he survive, why was Sharon & Ronnie suddenly on speaking terms with people that they'd either not seen in a while or ones that had wronged them in the past. Also who was in the boot of 'the arches' car, as we discovered it wasn't Vincent. So, could it be Fatboy, following his awkward, and rather threatening chat with resident badboy Vincent (Richard Blackwood for me makes a good villain, yet you feel sad for him following his troubled past and current feud with the Mitchell's)
.... And just when we thought we knew where we were with the Stacey/Martin/Shabnam/Kush baby stuff, we have Stacey looking all translike and looking towards Kat whilst she tells baby Arthur Brian that noone can ever know who her baby's father is. So it's either Alfie, Mick or Dean in my head at the moment. Bobby & Denny are ruled out due to their age, it can't be Charlie Slater surely, and it'd be pointless due to his brief return and exit. I am flummuxed on that one. It would make sense if it was Alfie, as he was living with her earlier in the year, I think that was around the time he had money troubles, and decided to burn his house down for the insurance, and after Kat found out she disowned him for a while. I reckon it'll turn out to be a character that will die before the new year's out, but as to whom it could be anyone, especially if she was off her meds for her bi-polar illness. I hope that won't drag on as long as the Lucy Beale death one did, much as I like a good plotline year long ones you can easily forget the whys and wherefores. |

I liked that she's siding with Gavin. Months ago, or whenever his last return was, it didn't make any sense at all but now when you consider Phil's alcoholism and her potentially losing her son and losing the person she believes was behind the car crash (her best/oldest friend or her husband), her looking for someone to rely on is more than understandable, especially considering that person is her real dad - someone she's been desperate to find for however long now. It's going to turn into a "he's the only real family I've got left."

Yet Stacey has already said Kush is the father. We have that in "writing" - it was televised - we even had the off screen retconning of Kush and Stacey shagging each other. But we have been given a spoiler that indicates ...

[quote=solace2008;80871664]And noone notices her odd behaviour. Shabnam just thought she was being pigheaded when she blanked her first off before revealing Kush wasn't Arthur Brian's dad
After an entire episode of all but Kush wearing an "I'm the daddy" tee shirt Shabanham was quite happy with Stacey's non explanation? I can see we are going to have to endure weeks of Kat and Martin saying "somefings not right with Stacey" before anything gets done! Despite Stacey having bi polar and being off her meds which would put her in the high risk group for post partum psychosis; her health visitor would now this and be keeping a close eye on her! |

I really liked the episode. I would have preferred to get the Christmas death yesterday, but I am glad it is tonight - something to look forward to!

I thought it was bollocks. A relatively boring episode. I am so sick of everyone covering for Bobby. It's just a continuous boring loop of, "I'm going to the police" / "He's just a boy, we have to protect him!" / "I'm going to the police" / He's just a boy..."
EE has been dire the last few weeks. |

Decent Episode some fine acting from Adam, Steve, Laurie and Letitia. Stacey stuff was ok. Enjoyed the Carters.

It was alright ish. It wasn't fantastic. Happy Xmas OP. I thought the "Bobby's killed Denny" vibe from Sharon was pathetic, sorry. Plus the acting from LD was over the top. I thought there was too much Mitchell stuff to be honest. It wasn't the best Xmas Eastenders episode. I enjoyed the Stacey stuff.

I hated that dream thing they did at the start of the episode (Jane/Sharon) but all in all it was a decent episode. Certainly better than last year's.

I thought it was decent, and better than last year's, but not as gripping as past episodes have been. It was miles better than Coronation Street, though.

I wonder if DTC will still be in charge next Xmas? Do you think he will be OP? If so will Bobby still be living at home or will he be in specialist unit for "kids like Bobby"?

Yeah, that was a bit odd. I didn't notice Sharon talking to Gavin other than him turning up and saying Hello Princess. I must have zoned out. I missed the Xmas Eve episode though and picked up bits and pieces from on here. (I'm on my parents' ancient computer which won't let me watch EE on iplayer). They did get an ipad for Xmas so next year I'll be able to watch back episodes

I actually really enjoyed it. Far superior to the Carter-centric Christmas Day 2014 which very predictably had the Linda rape and Mick/Shirley reveal which I thought felt very flat. This years episode had it all - mystery, intrigue, a big stunt, good script and decent storyline progression in some plots which have been dragging recently. And I loved the dream sequence at the start.
I have seen a lot of people moaning that they were disappointed they didn't get to see someone die which apparently was promised. My advice would be stay away from spoilers it makes for far more interesting viewing, I thoroughly enjoyed the episode and wasn't waiting for something to happen that didn't. |

I found it so boring and predictable. Hoping tonight's episode is a lot better.

She text him saying 'merry Christmas x' or something, so he popped round, said 'elo princess' (the text made him want to see her), then left after leaving a present on the kitchen table.
I was drinking a lot last night and also talking to my family who haven't seen me for months! I did wonder what Gavin was doing. Quote:
