Hats off to the BBC.

Not knowing how the Bobby storyline ends tonight has me on the edge of my seat as does not knowing who is in the boot of the car, its easy to assume its Fatboy but at the same time we actually don't know! What with Jack's return being a surprise I say to marks to the BBC for being able to keep so much under wraps. Spoilers are overrated thesedays.

The Bobby storyline will no doubt end tonight with Ian talking Jane out of handing him in

Jane will confess and say she told no one. Otherwise, many on and off the square are heading off for some jail time - Ian, Jane, Bobby, Cindy, Kathy, Liam, Lauren, Peter, Sharon, Phil.

Jane and Bobby would certainly be heading for jail. Ian has probably perverted the course of justice. Phil bribed a juror.

None of the others have committed any crime.

They really are showing Corrie how it should be done.

Agreed - their highlight is a ping-pong table.

Better that, than doom and gloom

Anyone who knows but hasn't said anything has perverted the course of justice

And this is why Corrie is struggling, some of their fans are in denial that they're being whipped.

They could have had the perfect Christmas with Callum coming back from the dead and raping Kylie in revenge, But no, they want schmaltz.

Yes lets have a horrible christmas in every single soap, how marvelous to have rapes and murders and aggression and misery at Christmas, after all it's Christmas, tis the season to be jolly and all that. Yes let's have Callum come back from the dead and rape Kylie, sounds absolutely splendid

They have no defence either. The most appropriate one in this case would be duress, but Bobby did not threaten any of those who know with imminent danger to stop them grassing him up. Not to mention it's been months - the imminent danger wouldn't apply.

Last night was terrible. The ratings reflect this.

The christmas period isn't over yet. You have someone in a boot who may have already suffocated, you have a child in a hospital bed who was close to death at the end of last night's episode. Anything could happen between now and the New Year, there will be a death.

The ratings were underwhelming for pretty much everything so I don't think they can be used to draw conclusions on the quality of one programme. EE faced the toughest competition of the night in the much hyped Downton finale.

However, I think the days of Christmas Day TV being an event are slowly passing. Last year NYD was bigger and the same might end up being true this year.

It'll be interesting to see if there is any bounce-back for EE next Christmas sans Downton.

The ratings were down for everything this year, not just the soaps
