Happy SOR-ing in 2016 everyone.
![]() Has Emily (writers) thought ahead about her own fraility and how she would cope in Peru if she was taken ill. Of course not.

This. ^^^
All soaps have their faults and are OTT but with EE and ED at least it looks like the producers have invested time and effort into making quality programmes. Corrie is too character led and the characters they want us to believe in just aren't plausible enough. The way the characters are presented just don't match up to what we see on screen. Eg. Fiesty women/all powerful business women - Carla runs a back street factory which would never be a success in this day and age. Any problems and she immediately crumbles and gives in to a new addiction. Liz - all fur coat and no knickers. She has too many men and always chooses a wrong 'un. Michelle - has invested bugger all and does bugger all, yet we are meant to believe she is a great success in business. Sophie - from shop girl to holder of clip board. Ken - has a degree. So that makes him a much respected street character. All hail Ken. Except he has been a serial cheater and now has some new ridiculous old bat in his bed and only a few months after Deirdre's death. Johnny Connor - are we really meant to believe in this fool as a businessman? Same goes for Aiden. Ping pong to get a contract? Then there are the packs of dimwits Beth and MyKirky and Sinead and Chesney. Fiz and Tyrone. Does anyone care about these two and their troubles? What they need is to forget this Hope and her illness rubbish and oafish Tyrone's money problems and get that f-ecking hovel sorted out. They should start by getting rid of all Jack and Vera's stuff including the shitty pigeon coop if bit's still there, the cocktail bar and the hideous cladding. Make the vicar do some vicaring, get Sarah to do a full shift at the Rovers and sort out the Callum SL once and for all! |

I'm thankful, happy and delighted the Tyrone/Fizz/Hope storyline is finally coming to an end is it now too late for the scriptwriters to slightly change Emily's exit by adding the above mentioned 3 characters to her flight as well please?.
And how come when someone on that street is leaving to far away places they always leave the very next day?. Another BIG shock last night Anna kissing Kev as the New Year midnight bells rang. [it had me really on the end of my seat not] Carla now predictably hitting the bottle hard after her 'bad' news, they didn't show her last night hitting the online roulette wheels as well were they closed for New Years Eve? and when is the big one-night-stand BANG with Lurch coming?. But, overall, just ... why? |

I seriously doubt Jennie McAlpine would be able to cope with anything more complicated than 2 dimensional acting and that the script for her is written that way to accommodate that.

Nobody is emoting over the Hope cancer storyline in the way you might imagine people would do when involving a very young child with a life threatening issue. That in itself proves the whole storyline has failed.
I'm half Emily's age and I'd have strong reservations about going to Peru. Wouldn't want to go alone either. Plus it's actually quite a dangerous place in many areas too. How insane to give her this storyline. Such a huge SOR. There is barely a storyline that I'm engaging with or relate to anymore on CS. I mean, Tyrone so desperate for money dipping into petty cash yet who spent what would have been a fortune decorating the entire street for Christmas! The whole thing has lost credibility across the board wherever you look. |

They did try to get the cladding removed, but he builder said, because of the way it had been stuck on, it would damage the brickwork so it couldn't be done. At least they could get it painted over in one neutral colour which would make it less of an eyesore.

that was in reality. it would have damaged the brickwork on the set, not sure how because it's just lumpy coloured plastic stuck onto a wood frame over the brickwork

Ridiculous, isn't it?
Apart from the issues already mentioned about the stupid idea of making it Peru, the passport issue and the jabs ... there's flights to organise (not straightforward I would guess) and visas? But, overall, just ... why? Apart from the fact these things take months to organise and you very often have to organise and pay for your own flights out (and back after your fixed time there) and it could cost thousands. You have to apply to volunteer and undergo medical and sometimes psychological tests to prove your capable mentally and physically to cope. No credible organisation would accept anyone for volunteering in their eighties (what could she do, they usually want professionals like doctors/nurses/builders). No-one would insure anyone of that age for that sort of work or travel, and no organisation/charity would be prepared to take the risk of having pay huge costs itself for medical care and/or for a private air ambulance to repatriate her from Peru in the likely chance she'll fall ill or have an accident. |

Why did Ken apologise for snapping at Audrey "earlier?" In Wednesday's episode she made a comment about Nessa, apologised for it, said that it was inappropriate and Ken agreed, that's hardly snapping at someone.
I know that a character's intelligence is cut in half whenever they enter a hospital but was it really necessary to do that with Tyrone? He was already an idiot before asking "wait isn't surgery dangerous? Because she has other organs and stuff." So Carla has been self destructing for 3 days and hasn't bought Nick anything for his birhtday? Was she really going to leave it until the day before to buy him a gift (or in reality, multiple gifts?) |

Mary met Brendan in the Rovers last night. Was there ever any discussion or reference about what happened on Christmas Day?
Carla forgot Nick's birthday. What's it got to do with Leanne? Anyway, there was no need for such full-on OTT nastiness. Do the Connors always go round in a pack? They're all together on the way to the factory and then there they all are in the bistro. And what was Michelle doing there on New Year's Eve? Why wasn't she doing her share at the Rovers? Was Liz doing NYE on her own? |

I wondered that about the Mary/Brendan storyline, thought I must have missed an episode. I have a friend who is in this sort of relationship at the moment, she insisted the boyfriend, who is married, stayed with her on Boxing Day. She said the wife had the mainday so BD was her turn. I must say there is no way iI would share a man. The man in questions wife is aware he is having this affair its been two years now.
I like Mary but don't like this storyline much, most of the storylines at the moment are boring, shame really as I have always loved Corrie. |

Happy New Year folks.
Are we going to have a SOR of the Year 2015? Struggling to pick between Carla Connor managing to keep Underworld afloat and Tyrone just happening to spot a gas canister which set ablaze Victoria Court. |

I know it has been said before but Emily, Peru, THE NEXT DAY???? Really?? Apart from the fact that she is 80 odd year old, and no sane 80 year old woman would want to jaunt off to Peru to volunteer, who on earth did she get everything organised in time to leave on New Years Day??
If she needed some time off, fine, send her to stay with her niece or even Mavis in the lakes, a bit of sun in Tenerife or something but Peru? Who on earth comes up with these storylines, the actors must be cringing reading their scripts. |

I think the writers are holding some sort of bet on how to come up with the most ridiculous place to send there characters. Wonder what they will think of next, maybe Mavis is now suddenly exploring a Jungle somewhere and Rita goes to join her? |
