I don't think it's out of character for Emily to want to go off and do good in a developing country, (if that's the right term). I quite like that she's undertaking something so risky at her age. Ok, so she'd probably never get insurance (could she just fly without it though?), and the trip was organised unrealistically quickly, but this is one SOR that doesn't bother me. Emily is a veteran of the show and deserves an interesting exit. I do wish we were going to see more of her preparations - it would have been interesting to see her talking to the other characters about their shared histories. And whatever will they all do if they fancy a drink and need someone to look after the kids? That Peruvian family she'll be staying with are in for a treat.

There are so many to choose from though
![]() The story of Mary's motor home would definitely make my top ten. - Kal and Leanne's fire escape plan - Faye's pregnancy, and how everything's forgotten - Callum allowed to waltz in chez Platts - Callum being left under a man hole - Bethany never at school - Simon missing a chunk of school time to visit dad - Anna breaking up with Owen in the manner she did - Carla being involved in a fire, a coach accident, told her father isn't who she thinks he is, and gambling addiction all in the space of a year. - SInead's (predictable), but almost miraculous recovery - Tyrone putting himself in debt, not being able to get a refund on a Lapland trip - Underworld staying afloat, despite Carla's mismangement - Sarah going from fashionsta to back-street barmaid, as if her career in Milan counted for nothing - Michael's refusal to forgive Gail - Andrea (yes, remember her!) stealing Lloyd's record collection to pay for her daughter's debts. - Eileen, Erica and Andrea randomly working as barmaids - The Gandy shenanigans - Sean still living at Eileen's despite having a boyfriend and holding two jobs - Michelle's wedding business, what happened to the client who booked in September? - Kevin not showing any empathy towards JennyBradley over losing a child - Folk dancing to Rob's tune, as if they couldn't ignore his visiting orders And that was just thought up in four minutes.

Supposing Emily survives the journey to Peru what is she going to do there? As far as we know she has no qualifications except as a bookkeeper way back in the 1970s before computers used, and shop experience. Recently all she does is babysit all the children in the street. Is there a need for a babysitter in Peru?

Happy New Year folks.
Are we going to have a SOR of the Year 2015? Struggling to pick between Carla Connor managing to keep Underworld afloat and Tyrone just happening to spot a gas canister which set ablaze Victoria Court. Leanne accepting Kal's marriage proposal halfway down the ladder took the p!ss too. And how the firemen just dropped Kal's body in the street like it was rubbish. How Liz seemed smug in telling Tracy that Amy was trapped in there. Tracy's motives for wanting to kill Carla in the first place. Carla being blamed and having people give her dirty looks because she was responsible for the fire but when it comes out that it was Tracy who start that fire no one cares and treats her like anyone else. Why didn't Kal just jumped off of that balcony and hope for the best? Going back into that building was certain death waiting to happen, jumping out of that building, unless he went head first into the pavement, would have left him with a broken leg or 2 maybe at that height but still alive. Like I said, everything about that fire should win such an award. |

Hands down everything to do with that fire. More specifically how Carla coughed up a lung after a few minutes of smoke inhalation (realistic reaction) but how Amy, a small child, managed to stay in that fire for a lot longer but managed to get out of that fire without ever coughing with a smaller lung capacity. Leanne and Kal were in the fire for longer than Carla too and were standing up and seemed just as unfazed as Amy.

Like I said, everything about that fire should win such an award. That ring road nonsense with the emergency services unable to arrive. The fire seems forgotten now. Since it was revealed Tracy was responsible it is like there has been some massive memory wipe on the street residents. Tracy has recently been threatening Leanne and talking to her like crap, despite it being Leanne helping save Amy and alerting everyone to the fire in the first place! Leanne even said the other night "I may not be Tracy's biggest fan..." well I'd think not as she did indirectly kill your boyfriend! And as for nobody caring about Tracy's involvement. Tony Stewart gets humiliated in front of the whole pub by Liz, Liz buys Tracy a drink as a "thank you" while Tracy stands there and sneers. Apparently causing a fire leading to the deaths of two people is less worse than conning (which Tracy was also involved in!) Hated that scene, if I was meant to cheer for Tony's commupance the writers are sadly mistaken. And of course Tracy turning over a new leaf. That went nowhere. It's like the writers can't be bothered so just reverted back to same old nastiness, far easier to write and requires little effort. None of the stories go anywhere. We got no proper conclusion to Andy and Michael making up, Michael moved in with him and we are just meant to assume in the weeks they were absent they made up. Now all we get is Andy standing around in the Bistro and that pointless stuff recently with Michael and that woman he robbed years ago (that went nowhere either). Okay, I'll stop rambling on now lol. ![]()

You've sort of answered why it's such an SOR in your own post ... the fact that it could have been such a good story line (which she deserves) - as long as we ignore the real stretch about Peru. True to form though, she's written out in a few episodes.

i still have no idea how Lloyd ended up stuck on a boat to Noway and I watched the bloody eposides
Norway is how Liz says "no way!" anyway my 2015 SOR list is invisble lilly convenient unused drain under platt's garage from the factory demolished 25 years ago. the fact there are cobbles outside underworld / side of platts / side of kabin when all this area was the factory / community centre so why the hell would there be cobbles there. (there's even some old rail track, part of the quay street set history, not corry history, but they repeated this cock up onto the new set which makes no sense at all |

Why has Ken's (dreadful) new girlfriend forgotten all about her son? Where was he on New Years eve? Why wasn't he invited to her party? Why would Ken a) have moved on from Deidree so quickly and b) be shacked up with such a dreadful woman? I'm actually starting to warm to Ken and Audreh as opposed to this mis-match.
Love how Emily booked a flight for New Years Day at such short notice, did she need to pack or sort anything out for the house etc? I appreciate older people do go on these sort of trips, but she seems quite an unlikely person to up sticks and travel to Peru. Why is that creepy vicar always hanging round the cafe or pub or Eileens doss house? Has he no parisheners that need him? And why is he no longer stalking Sarah at every available opportunity? Kevin/Tyrone are now the best of mates again. Despite the fact Kevin had an affair with Tyrones wife and fathered a child Tyrone thought was his. Maria has gone to Spain. What about her (invisible) sons education. And who has her dog? |

Recommended vaccinations for Peru are Hepatitis A (two weeks before leaving, but can be given the day before departure) and B (three injections over 3 to 4 months), Typhoid (preferably at least a month before departure) and Yellow Fever (10 days before departure) if going to jungle areas.
I suppose she could afford business class, though, cheapest being about £2500, return |

A very good account of just some of the monumental cock-up scriptwriting of 2015.
![]() Actually, I find the small stuff like this where the writers know nothing of the history of the character the most irritating. It takes only two minutes to check stuff like this. Why dont they? Quote:
