Gone to make her seem vulnerable. Poor ickle Bethany. Unfortunately, it hasn't worked because nobody gives a damn.

Well, I don't. Dunno about anyone else! Are we meant to feel sorry for her? Massive SL fail for me.

Why do they do that? When someone is being bullied, ill or when the SL dictates we feel sorry for them, off comes the slap

I don't feel sorry for her at all. She just annoys me.

Of course, but today's Corrie craves popularity. That's why they have these lovely spokespeople Brooke Vincent, Kym Marsh and Antony Cotton to do all the talking. While the 'real' actors step away from the limelight.

I remember Michelle Keegan was Corrie's representative at the TRIC awards a few years ago and they scooped the big prizes. Now? If Shayne Ward wins 'best newcomer', the staff will just pat themselves on the back. Sad indictment. Corrie hasn't had a single decent storyline the past year........they talk a good plot, but can't deliver. You could argue Eastenders has and that's why they've been critically praised.

Truth is, Corrie has been papering cracks for a long time. At least the other soap producers/production teams have had the balls to do radicial changes. And I don't mean axing characters, but tweaking the output and storyline techniques.

Yes! They always do that to make people look worse.

Of course the exception is Sinead who had her eyelashes over mascara-ed when she was in hospital. At the other end of the spectrum was Erica who looked horrendous when Corrie tried to make her look glam. They completely over did it. Then there's Liz who often looks like an embalmed drag queen and the lovely Michelle and her eye-liner flicks!

Corrie are hopeless with make-up. Far too OTT! They aren't really very fair to their women characters in that respect. Although they did a very good job with Mary a few weeks ago.

I remember when Corrie had just 2 half hour eps a week, (Monday and Wednesday )
Now, with 5 eps a week to churn out, it's quantity over quality.
I would gladly see it drop to maybe 3 eps a week if it meant a step up in quality.
I know the other soaps have more eps as well, I don't watch them so I can't really comment on the quality, but I know there are other problems, like 'The Hat' at the realm but if a revamped production team had fewer eps to knock out Corrie could rekindle some of the magic that made it the most successful long running serial drama in the World?

Absolutely. More episodes doesn't mean more quality - just the opposite. It started with two episodes a week, which would still be sufficient if it had the quality it had then.

Plenty of other successful dramas manage on one episode a week. There would be time to develop stories and characters rather than churn out a rushed story and then discard it. I suspect they have a list of topics they want to cover and a list of actors whose time it is to appear for a while and tick them off the list.

I remember loving it when it was 4 episodes a week and one of them was on a Sunday evening. I would like to see Corrie reduce it's output, sometimes two episodes an evening is too much.

Despite Corrie being very poor it still gets pretty good ratings. Thats all ITV care about is ratings as this brings in good advertising money.

So unless ratings drop dramatically we are stuck with 5 episodes a week. Quantity over quality

How embarrassing. It's coasting on its past glories. The whole prog is now awful and not worthy of such a crown.

The people who are not very well liked! KM & AC must push for this role to keep themselves in the Corrie spotlight to build their importance to make their presence in prog seem worthy. These two make sure everyone knows their names and who they are. Corrie star - Kym Marsh. Corrie star - Antony Cotton. These two will never quit.

EE is like all soaps - OTT. But whenever I watch it seems far superior in every way. The production values are so much better. Corrie don't seem to be much bothered about anything except churning episodes out. It's full of weirdos, idiots, simpletons, feisty women, women with faces full of OTT make-up, women with their tits and arses out, dozy blokes, scenes in odd places like the debate in the cafe, the Corrie Winter Wonderland Christmas, the enigma which is the successful factory, the enigma which is Carla Connor who won an award for her business acumen despite the factory going bust every few weeks, everyone neatly partnered off, the Anna smashing up Phelan and his van scene and of course - comic characters.

Completely agree with what you say about EE the acting is so much better by everyone compared with Corrie. One example is Phil with his acting as an alcolholic it is commendable you would really think he was drunk. Then compare with the likes of Les Dennis as Michael and his appaling acting on Monday.....no comparison. To me everyone can act on EE whereas on Corrie they are like some hammy sitcom these days, unfortunately

Thanks!

The production values on Corrie are crap. The whole thing is now cheap and nasty. I've been close to giving up recently and haven't watched it so closely. I often pop out of the room when it's on and don't care if I miss a bit. I'm going to give the new producer a chance and see what happens. Here's hoping something can be done to resuscitate Corrie.

Hope so. As I too am not bothered if I miss a bit anymore and my husband has given up all together. When is the new producer starting and more importantly when will the scenes he is involved with be televised?

I agree. I think it was the beginning of the end when they increased the number of episodes. Sometimes less is more.

Can someone tell me how Phelan managed to fix the radiator in the taxi office with no tools?

He has super powers that allow him to fix things purely by looking at them, maybe?

Was last night the end of the 'Bethany Bullying' storyline?

Sarah goes around to Lauren's house (how did she get the address, I missed that bit) and mouthes off at her and her mother in a bullying fashion. Very diplomatic, Sarah.

I have thought about this long and hard and I can honestly say there is not one character that I give two hoots about. I used to love so many of them years ago.

The only ones I don't mind are Tim, Audrey and strangely enough, Todd but having said that, I wouldn't be that bothered if they disappeared.

It was on an e-mail that went round about a parents' group. (Do parents have meetings about school in each other's houses?)

We can live in hope as it was pretty much a non starter anyway, the box has been ticked so now they can move on.

Perhaps it was an airlock, and he just needed a key.

the was silly.r

if she had willingly allowed her address to be printed on a school news letter, why would she have been so shocked that someone had known her address?!

Well unless I missed something, it hasn't finished. Unless they didn't include scenes that have been featured in photos elsewhere on DS.

It'll be parked up with the other recent non-starter - craft beers in the Rovers' (I was only reminded of those by "Who's the Boss?" the other night)

According to the tabloids, they were filming more scenes about the bullying on Monday, and, if they stick to the usual schedules, they wouldn't be aired for another six weeks or so.

I get the feeling a lot of people on here are done with it already, like I and others have said it was a nonstarter not convinced by it at all, bad acting, bad script or both.
