Liz has mentioned several times in the past that she was 17 when she had the twins.
Can I just say that last night's Corrie , for me anyway, were the most boring, rotten episodes I have sat through in a long time. Far, far too much of the Sophie/ Kate/ Caz love triangle rubbish (yawn). Does anyone really care about their non wedding? They haven't been in the show long enough for anyone to care about them, and it was obvious from day one that Kate was going to end up with Sophie. Also, Kevin and Tim sitting in the pub, what a manky looking pair, and how many years has Kev had that purple jacket? |

Having done my sums, I put Liz at 58/59 years old now.
She got pregnant at 16 Steve was 15 in 1989 when they joined Corrie. Therefore I put Liz at 32 then. Plus 27 years to date, makes her 59, could be 58 or 60 depending on birthdays etc. Bev Callard is 59. |

It's ridiculous that in the bistro all the staff who should be in the kitchen spend a lot of their time standing at the bar. I'm thinking of washer-up Tracy in her pinny and big yellow gloves. Really?
And how convenient that the bistro was short-staffed to facilitate that scene, just like the Rovers was the week before when Erica had to step in.

Back in the day, after work everyone would pile into the Rovers still wearing in their working clothes. Not sure what time Tim and Kev were in there last night though. The Rovers isn't working at the mo. There's no pubby-type atmosphere whatsoever.
) where Annie Walker had a polite go at Brian Tilsey for having his overalls on in the Rovers at lunch time.

It's a Friday night and the Bistro's, seemingly the only place anyone with any connection to the street goes for a mile is empty except for Sally, her Councillor mates and Tim watching?.................
Incidentally, why did Sally say she'd text Tim? Not a lot of point when he can't read. |

The funny thing is most of these characters never wanted to better themselves or get any sort of education. Tina dumped a pint over Matt Carter's head when he suggested she should get some qualifications, and Sophie got kicked out of college and was fine with just working in Dev's shop.
How long before Kate goes from packing boxes to walking around the factory floor with her own clipboard and "working" in the office? She can then strut around with Michelle putting on the act she is a high and mighty businesswoman. Quote:
Now this I really didn't understand. Now that Robert knows that Tracy has been blackmailing Carla, he must've twigged that Carla was only trying to get him back with Tracy to save her own neck. Why wasn't this mentioned when it was so blatantly obvious?
![]() Quote:
Sawfeh was still marking stuff off her clipboard tonight. Talk about making work for yourself. We never see her in the office taking important business calls from the 2 customers they have. Is me car ready yet? No. Call you when its done. Ok, bye.

I couldn't believe Sally's lack of table manners, on several occasions speaking with her mouth full of food, once even stuffing in yet another forkful before complaining to Rob about the noise from the back. Sally would never do that, especially while on her endless quest to impress. Unless of course, it was done deliberately to remind us that despite all her airs and graces, she's common as muck. Like we need reminding.
I had to explain the one about scallops ('I love potatoes, me') to HarkAtHim, scallops being a northern thing. A thick slice of potato in batter, that you get in chippies (delish! haven't seen them for ages though). |

Yes, it's the Corrie School of Business Management. Entry requirements: be young, female and good-looking, with no history of achievement or graft. They'll teach you how to roll your eyes at men, tote some kind of document and solve every problem with one phonecall
That whole sl has literally lost the plot. A while back, Robert was the one sneering at Carla, telling her to watch out. Now he's aghast that Tracy has done the same thing. Or not aghast; actually, he agrees with Carla that he loves Tracy, can't help himself. Or does he? Hang on a minute... ![]() ![]() I think she was meant to be drunk, having swilled back the wine through nerves - not that she's ever been nervous in these situations before. Felt sorry for the council stooges, particularly the wife, who just had to feed the lines then look blank at Sal's brainless comments. Liz could remain, but I'd like to see Eva take a more prominent role. I'd kick Michelle and Steve out, she could still do shifts, but have a less hands-on role so she could concentrate on her wedding 'business'. I'd have Steve back at Streetcars and strike a partnership with Tim. More importantly, I'd love to see them employing a character outside of Weatherfield. Maybe an experienced barman, not looking to woo Liz. Because we know once the honeymoon's over, she'll order him to march. EastEnders have Tracy, who do Corrie have? Bet, Alec, Raquel, Jack, Betty, Liz -- that was the Rovers I grew up with. It worked because every character had a designated role, you knew who made the hotpots, who would act as cover if Alec were away. Never short staffed, and there was none of this nonsense like Erica suddenly holding the fort when everything gets busy. Don't even know if Sarah's still employed, or Anna still cleans the place. |

The Rovers was also practically empty on a Friday night! Back in the day, it was full of smoke and folk sitting and standing at the bar. There was always plenty of chat going on. That's how it should have been on a Friday night. The Rovers was silent. Corrie just don't bother with any semblance of reality. Nowhere is buzzing. They only bother with the minimum amount of people in each scene. Do we ever see anyone walking down the street who isn't a main cast member?
With regards reality of the scripts you know those meerkats that come on just before the start I'd promote them to script writers and let them write it they couldn't do any worse could they. |

we used to call them fritters in Wales, in some chippies you'd get a tiny bit of fish in the middle
As far as I'm concerned it was a joke (what's Sally on about? Scallops are potatoes?) because scallops are shell fish and nothing else. In one fish shop in Essex I saw them listed on the menu as "sgollops". |

Definitely feel the Rovers is in need of freshening up. It seems they've put all their efforts on the ghastly bistro.

So either the writers are writing onl for some regions referring to battered potatoes or they're all from regions where they're not heard of. Battered, fried potatoes sound very healthy.

Shock horror - a word can apply to more than one thing such as ring, watch and train. Yes, Scallops are shellfish and in some parts of the country, scallops is a name for slices of potato in fried batter and in other parts it's cheesy potatoes. Hence the 'joke' on last night's Corrie! ![]() And for the skeptics who seem to think that because they've only heard of shellfish scallops, potato scallops don't exist - here's a few pics! http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...ps23b42fa3.jpg http://img.sndimg.com/food/image/upl...oes%20tsfg.jpg |
