On the subject of children, where were Aldi and Asda supposed to be when Mary and the smooth talker went skipping upstairs?”

Eva told Carla that her mother was in America, Leanne was mentioned as being her sister

Edit apparently it was Aiden that Eva was having the conversation with

It could have course have been deliberately written wrongly, to underline how flustered Roy was with Nessa - although that's probably reading too much into it

All this nepotism does my head in actually. How the hell is someone with no relatives in the industry meant to make it?!

I utterly LOATHE the Connors and all these stupid storylines. And Carla referring to wotshername (who prefers women to men!) as 'you only acted like a little sister' Stupid wishy washy soppy shyte! I watch Jeremy Kyle sometimes, I KNOW that carla would not be welcomed into the family in this manner!

I hate Carla now. I used to like the character, when she was with Peter Barlow, but now I loathe her.

I agree! And why could Cathy not get out of that flat on her own?! Anyone could have got out of there! How stupid!

Exactly! No WAY would Cathy have had those letters!”

Rebecca Callard has worked with Judi Dench. I read this ages ago. Just checked and JD directed Rebecca Callard when she played Juliet in Romeo and Juliet. Not bad acting credentials!

The Connors - doesn't everybody? Corrie present them as such a big powerful family who everyone respects, yet they are such a eff up!

That was just absolutely beyond logic.

Carla has been completely overused. There's nothing left in that character. Alison King has shown some sense in leaving.

I'm amazed they don't ALL override the script. Barely a word of it is believable.

I think it's so funny how they cocked up on the letters alan sent to nessa being in alan's work desk

shows how little they pay attention to what they are writing

Maybe they finally realised that his road tax disc expired in July last year

Not sure if it's been mentioned already but it's been bugging me for a week now.

You don't need a tax disc anymore

Given the age of Roy's car, would it even need a tax disc?

I agree, she's very talented, though I have to wonder why, with around five surnames to pick from, she decided on Callard.

It seems that all the new actors, especially those who go straight into leading roles, are related to someone already in the business, and usually famous. It does make you wonder how those without such relatives can get parts.

Probably the most spiteful think gordon brown ever did as chancellor. It used to be that all cars 25 years or more old were exempt from road tax. In 1997, within weeks of labour getting in, GB froze it so that it applied only to cars registered in 1974 or earlier. That must have saved, oh, hundreds of pounds.

For tax exempt vehicles you still had to apply for and display a tax disc that showed the payment of £0.00. Applied to those disabled who were exempt too, and also applied to mobility scooters capable of 8mph so they could go on the road. Some local authorities allowed tax exempt disabled who displayed a blue badge and a £0.00 tax disc to park for free when everyone else had to pay. They could also check with DVLA if the vehicle was tax exempt due to disability, but when tax disc were abolished, the DVLA information changed so all tax exempt vehicles are listed as "tax not due". They have removed the "disabled" information because they suddenly decided that it was giving personal information about someone that anyone could see and that's caused some problems for free disabled parking schemes.

No car requires a tax disc in the UK these days. You need to pay but do not need to display a tax disc, you are no longer issued with one.

tax exempt cars still required a special classic car tax exemption disc, presumably to stop them getting ticketed. But as been pointed out already tax discs are no longer issued.

They cock up so often on Corrie it is laughable and also embarrassing. Although that bloke at Corrie never admits that they've made a balls up of it. We should bombard him with emails of different cock-ups.

Maybe she liked the name or maybe she is trading on her mother's acting name.

Just send him a link to this thread it's full of all the cock ups and lack of attention they pay to their own scripts.

I'd settle for the second, though in my opinion she really had no need to.

wikipedia says Rebecca Callard took her stepdad's name when she was about 12 in 1989, so presumably this was before she was an actress anyway. It also says she was born Rebecca Atkinson which was apparently was Bev's married name to her husband that she divorced before Rebecca was even born (not her dad), so possibly not surprising she didn't want to keep a surname that didn't have anything to do with her?

or she could have have just thought it sounded good, yes

The worst case of this was on Eastenders when about 5 years ago they cast Lacey Turners little sister and "seriously" claimed that they didnt know who she was and that it was pure coincidence and that she had just auditioned like everyone else.

Because.........like, producers realy cast little kids in their shows without meeting their parents or doing any background checks or anything.

Glad to see Anna & Kevin together. I think she is a great actress and hope she gets some happy storylines for a change, without the dreadful Faye!
