Tyrones Christmas Crapland cost £10,000??????
A few christmas trees, a couple of strings of lights and a sleigh with some elves (couldn't the lovely residents of Coronation Street have dressed up as elves/santa for an hour on Christmas morning for free rather than paying an "actor" £1,500)
I think the snow was "real" cos it was in the Barlows back "garden" and i don'r remember seeing/hearing anything about a snow machine but then again lately coronation street is more of a background thing than the sole focus of my attention.
I hope FIzz has that engangement ring insured cos it must have cost about £8,000 as that the only way i can see him being so far in the red!

TEN GRAND????

Also Christmas was 3 weeks ago and we never see or hear the kids playing with any new toys-surely there'd have been new bikes or dolls or games consoles or action figures or dvds or something that they'd been seen interacting with even in the background.

The snow was real. The snow machine was faulty.

Kirk and AN Other were trying to get the snow machine working but couldn't

I think it's pretty clear that the snow was real. I recall a scene in the Christmas Day episode where Sally told Tim to clear the front path outside their house.

This one is a bit late because we are 1.5 weeks behind in the US but Brendan showing up on NYE at the Rovers for Mary is a big SOR. Mary is the side chick and every body knows side chicks don't get the real holidays.

These are side chick's holidays:

1. Valentines Day- February 13th
2. 4th of July (US only) 3rd of July
3. Thanksgiving (US only) the day before Thanksgiving
4. Christmas (December 26th) This might get pushed to the 27th for the UK since Boxing Day is celebrated
5. New Years Eve (December 30th)

I'm thinking Sawfie is babysitting as she has no love life ATM and is living with Kevin. Plus, she can't really be earning her way full time at the garage, so maybe childcare is part of the deal.
Sawfie is the new Emily.
Intriguing, as Tracey recently described Ken's as a "poky two-up, two-down"!
Yes she did, even though at one time they had Ken, Deidre, Tracey, Amy, Blanche, Peter and Simon living there which would need three bedrooms at least. It makes no sense.

Didn't Sally or someone put bunting across the street? Then we had Lapland. Now Tracy takes over part of the road. Stupid.

If all that sheeting is still at Victoria Court, then the Weatherfield Wayfarer will never get past!

We didn't win Honey.

Perhaps he can follow the Yellow Brick Road and bu99er off. Permanently. Of course Sean will be Dorothy!

Sophie Webster has progressed beyond clipboards. As seen last night she was holding a bit of paper showing bar charts and they were done on a computer! So there!

Amy is the new Blanche.

Tracy is going to start wearing specs, making stuffed marrow and taking up pottery classes, so she can be the new Deirdre.

Ty and Fiz & Steve and Michelle are the new Jack and Vera. Carla is the new Elsie Tanner, Liz McDonald is the new Bet Lynch but there are still a vacancies for the new Ena Sharples and the new Hilda Ogden.
* reluctantly hands back the trophy*

I think Sally is doing a pretty good job of being the new Hilda.
You might. I wouldn't.
I would say "mistress" but its probably hopelessly old fashioned now.

Yes, it does say that the houses had three bedrooms when they were built, but with outside toilets, so I would imagine that all the houses turned the third bedroom in to a bathroom.
I have to say I never remember Dev doing a loft conversion, when Curly Watts lived in that house he made an observatory in the attic for his telescope, so there would be room for a bedroom up there , I suppose,, but i doubr if D
Yes, what I meant to say was that some will have been turned into bathrooms, not the other way around. They often created a bathroom upstairs without losing a bedroom though, depending on the layout.

Although, even with Devs attic bedrooms he was still overloaded when he had the gay friend who he took a fancy to staying with him. He needed five bedrooms for that, which is very unlikely.

The cancelled Lapland trip was 3000 plus 1500 to the actor and whatever else he had to pay for Xmas day.
Im guessing Wonga are owed the remainder.

Honey, if you look further up this thread you will see that stevepk has given an accurate description of what the sleeping arrangements are in all the houses. Apart from Dev maybe having a loft bedroom , all the others have only two upstairs , it's always been that way

Well if it's Wonga £10,000 sounds a bit light as they charge way more than that for just 1 months interest on a £100 loan.

Last post was cut short! Was going to say that no way would Dev have four bedrooms, they are all two up, two down houses, that was why Tyrone was doing a loft conversion, so that his two could have a bedroom each, but don't think it went ahead.
And Dev's house has been knocked through so now there's only one living room, they can't even use the front room as a bedroom like Eileen and Ken do. These houses are obviously built using Time Lord technology, it's the only explanation.

With the greatest respect to Steve, unless he is actually Tony Warren, all any of us can do is speculate.

It hasn't "always" been that way at all.
I provided a link earlier that shows the the houses originally had THREE bedrooms.
It is not always necessary to lose a bedroom to create a bathroom, and it is very common to have it done this way.
We have seen in many episodes that the houses have a loft that is capable of being converted to bedrooms, so that can explain some extra rooms.

Eileen's house cant be two bedrooms because Eva used to stay over all the time and I hardly think they would bunk up with Todd!

We know that Chesney's house has more than two bedrooms because recently Beth confirmed that Craig has his own room. (when the school complained about his tiredness)

The empty flat ... Did that used to be Julie's? It must have at least two bedrooms if they were planning to adopt and Todd stayed there for a while.

Leanne's flat has at least three bedrooms occupied at the moment. We know that Eva doesn't share with Leanne because she brought Aiden home for the night. (unless Coronation street is a hotspot for kinkiness? )

So not all the houses have two bedrooms. Not that it matters. the writers will alter the buildings to suit the scripts as needed.

Well if it's Wonga £10,000 sounds a bit light as they charge way more than that for just 1 months interest on a £100 loan.
He might as well have just gone to Lapland.
What accent was the elf trying to do when he demonstrated his abilities?

Yes. There is no rhyme or reason to it at all. They expand and contract at will and bedrooms vanish and reappear as needed.

Can anyone remember what happened to that character? And isn't Mary living at Dev's too now?

i think she went off to stay at another friend's when Dev made a show of himself declaring his love for her.
its a shame because i thought she was very good.
Mary is staying in Devs because she forgot to pick up her van from the pound

Of course Mary would forget her mobile home, probably because its only worth about £30 000.

Now that Emily is away would it not make sense for Mary to move in with Norris

Same with Luke, why has he not moved into Marias flat in her absence, even if only to look after the flat keep house warm etc

Is Ozzy still alive? If so he has been lost to the pet vortex where hes currently hanging out with Craig's rat and Rover. The same thing happened to Tyrone's dog Monica for a few years until a death was written in.

He is meant to be staying at Kirk's (or better yet, Chesney's house). However you wouldn't think it as he is never seen, you'd think a big black dog would be noticeable.

Stretching believe-ability until it snaps, Mary must have had a load of washing in the launderette when the van was taken, because she carried on wearing the same clothes, and she must be renting a storage facility for her donations to the church jumble sale and magazine collections.

Re the £10,000 Christmas... The biggest irony is that Hope-less didn't appear to give a shit about it, neither did Ruby Ruby Ruby Ruby for that matter.

Vanity project for Ty?

Maybe Eileen could finally get annoyed with her ridiculously stuffed house and get a builder (obviously Jason or Phelan) and get a basement added to the house. All the neighbours would love the idea and it could be a street wide development and then everyone could finally fit in those houses. Scope to hide a few bodies while they're building too!

Regarding Preston's Petals, I know it's all part of the product placement thing but surely you can't just open a flower shop and immediately get Interflora "affiliation" or however it works? There must be some application process which takes several weeks at least, not to mention getting delivery of all the official branded in-store display material and so on...?

Vanity project for the scriptwriters more like.

thanks, but i'm not. just remember how it all works out.

I have always assumed number 7 to be three bed as it has two front windows, hence two front bedrooms and one at the back.
