Biggest SOR for me was Freddie actually having tea in his cup at the auto shop!
They've been reading this thread!

I have the same feeling......

And it works with the Coronation Street sense of continuity. Becky starts bad, turns good, has to leave, but before she does, introduces Kylie. Then Kylie starts bad, turns good, has to leave, but before she does, admittedly a while back, introduces the character of Gemma

If we'd not had Becky, we'd have never had Kylie, and thus not had the long, tedious Callum rubbish

Has the Army welfare officer just appeared out of the blue or did i miss something? She and Caz seem to be well acquainted judging by their meeting in the Bistro and what was that meeting all about?

I seem to have missed a lot, or has Corrie got it hopelessly wrong in another poorly researched area?

If Caz is a long term absentee (a court martial was mentioned) she would be in some form of arrest at her unit. When a soldier goes AWOL the local civilian police are asked to help locate the soldier at places they are know to go. I don't think that welfare officers get involved in that sort of stuff.

Her ankle seems to be taking a very long time to heal and normal form is for a soldier to recover at their unit on light duties under the care of the Medical Officer. The army have very good medical and physio staff , they have to.
Once AWOL has been decided as a charge then the person is suspended and can return home until the court date

Things have changed since my days then. In my days, the person who was awol would be held in a cell.

It really depends on the severity of the charge and which Court Martial she is charged under.
I have a feeling it would just be Summary Hearing by Commanding Officer
He has the power to jail her for between 28 and 90 days
AWOL carries a max 2 years prison sentence

That is not a court martial if the Commanding officer deals with it.

It is usually the Squadron Officer commanding (OC) that deals with a soldier being AWOL.
A soldier can refuse the OC dealing with it and it will be passed up to the Commanding Officer of the regiment.

Court martials are only for serious matters. AWOL is not that serious and is usually dealt with by the OC.
Many years ago, I was AWOL for a period due to a woman. Upon return, I got two weeks work duties. I can't recall the correct term. This was from my OC.

Yes, i am fully aware of that. I am pointing out that it is a SOR that she is being court martialed for what is classed as a minor matter. Its AWOL and not Desertion which would be a Court Martialling offence. Saying that, if she disagreed with the C/O at a Summary Hearing she has the right to ask for a Court Martial hearing. She would be suspended immediately until her date, which is actually very fast, normally within a month

It was an immaculate conception
In which case they're sowing the seeds of a future storyline. Leanne will have a daughter, and in 13 years time that daughter will give birth to the next Messiah.

If yes, times have really changed.

In my days if you did something worthy of a court martial, you would be in a cell wearing an outfit that has bolts in it to ensure you only get sleep when they allow you to.

Has it actually been said what she is being court marshalled for?

If not it might not be because she is AWOL/deserter it might be another reason and she might have been suspended pending the court marshal, the fact she appears to be violent may suggest that maybe she was fighting with someone?

Also the fact she was supposed to be seeing a Physio suggests that she was injured and it's obvious that the injury is not as serious as she is making out.

I can't wait to see Sophie's annoyed face when she realises Kate has forgiven Caz.

Their relationship is absolutely nothing to do with her. She has no claim on Kate at all. I am hoping that Caz gives her a good clout before she goes and if Sophie and Kate become a couple, I shall definitely switch off. Sophie is a complete waste of space.

Well they did it with Todd as the sexual predator with Billy in a similar manner, but as no one on here likes Sean that's ok, in this case no one likes Sophie so it's not allowed to happen.

Are you sure? The absentee just benefits from the crime then.

'I will take a few weeks off and they will let me have several more off as my punishment'??

And their colleagues are not so forgiving of those who let the team down, often worse than the official punishment.

With CS there is always the question of whether they do not have a clue what they are writing the plot around because of little or no research, or they leave it deliberately ambiguous or erroneous to fit their story line.

Stories around police and court appearances, civil or criminal, are likewise poorly done. It is fiction but the problem is so many people believe it especially, when from time to time they run an issue that has the Powers That Be offering advice and help to people who might have been affected by similar issues.

That's easy - you put the sticky-out bit back into the hole in the door, and turn. Getting out from the other side is more tricky, but you just need something rigid to go through the hole in the door.

Sorry for the technical terms.

No comment that Ken was 'looking after the pub' last night?

That's one of the biggest SORs I've seen in a while.

Michelle (who wasn't available for comment) had to pop next door to No.1 to knock on for Ken to ask him to come to the Rovers to watch the pub while she was on the phone? Really?

I assumed he meant that he was already there and she asked him to keep an eye on the bar, not that she had to go and get him.
