Corrie even in its current state still stands tall over the current abomination that is EE.

Irritant No.1 .................why do Anna and Kevin need to 'announce' anything in The Rovers. They've had a couple of dates and slept together. It's no big deal is it?
Irritant No. 2 ................hasn't actually happened yet but I'm dreading Anna's reaction to seeing Phelan. She has nothing to fear from him now, everyone knows what happened, Owen's gone. Move on, love. No histrionics, please. ![]() Surely she won't worry about Kevin knowing....what's it to him. |

But this is Corrie, where no-one does anything in the way that they happen in real life. It's "Corrieworld" a self-sufficient bubble surrounded by, but not sticking to the rules of, real life. They're aliens really - they eat, drink and reproduce like humans, but they don't expel waste or do anything else in the way that humans do.
They can even go away for a while and come back as someone completely different. |

Seriously? EE is on top form at the moment. You only have to see the excitement over Peggy's return/upcoming exit and the retun of Ross Kemp to see its upped its game. Compare that to gurning Tracey conveniently overhearing the latest I-slept-with-you borefest and Anna and Kevin.

Surely this is the same in all soaps! In fact - any TV program. The only characters I've seen go to the loo are Jim Royle in the Royle Family and most of the blokes in Hill Street Blues - who announced it and went in with the Sporting Pages!

I don't really get the 'being snowed under' (while all the staff were outside) thing at the salon because Nessa has left. Wouldn't she have had her own clients who would have followed her to her new job? And wouln't David and Audruh just book in who they could deal with? My hairdresser may allow me, say, 90 minutes for a tint and cut. If she doesn't have a 90 minute slot the day I want to go, she will request I come another day and give me a few options to chose from.
And way would Gail be put put her frumpy do couldn't be done that afternoon, wouldn't Audruh just go to hers after work and do it then? |

The front door wasn't locked. Remember Carla waltzed in through it and Robert walked out of it and left Carla the keys

![]() Goodness me, so many things wrong about that robbery. Just laughed when Carla leapt into the car and Phelan did a starfish. ![]() How much misery can you put upon a character. Carla in the last 20 months alone has has had a miscarriage, found out her husband was sleeping with the au pair, survived a coach crash, escaped a fire and was victimised for it, had to battle her gambling and red wine addictions, put her company at risk and found out her father was not who he is. Unrealistic, too many hard-hitting storylines focusing on one character. And this Tracyluv vengence thing is a load of nonsense. |

Harking back to the past via Peggy and Grant, the latter I strongly doubt will be back for more than a week's worth of episodes at best isn't that fantastic IMO. That's not even mentioning the other problems with the show over the past couple of years including the SOR to end all SOR's, Kathy's return.
Whether Peggy and Grant are back for a week or a year, at least EE have former long-term characters returning for short stints. Aunt Sal, Glenda Mitchell and Mo Harris turn up every now and again. Aunt Babe has been and gone a few times and Lauren Branning visited for her father's trial. Then there was the shock when Belinda returned briefly as the actress who played her looked a lot like Kat. The mainstay of the square, the Vic is run by a big family with plenty of interesting things going on. In Corrie, the Rovers has Liz and Michelle, the one dimensional feisty women who are always seen as wonderful and Steve who gets bullied by them. I don't think EE is by any means perfect but at least they make an effort. |

But then when David and Kylie get wind of it, they'll put a stop to Jason's work. Rinse and repeat.

I think the difference between corry and EE is that the BBC dont use EE as a filler between other programmes and bounce it round the schedules as they see fit, you dont see strictly shoehorned between two episodes of EE in the desperate hope you will stay with the BBC and watch it whilst you gormlessly wait for the next episode of EE.. they have more respect for their flagship soap than that. (and more respect for the viewers)
ITV on the other hand use corry as a way to get us to watch their cack like im a dead entity between the two episodes, or move it about for BGT week or what ever they think the viewer is so thick they will just stay with them and watch anything sandwiched between two episodes of corry like zombies, I guess most of us actually turn over and watch eastenders |

If that means five episodes a week, so be it. I just think Corrie's quality has just diminished since having two episodes on the same night. When you have a storyline like Richard Hillman, it'll work but tonight was just padded out. Clear the staff don't care about what they put out, it's just ticking boxes and meeting quotas. |

The whole farce with the robbery, even by Corries very low standards that was one of the most farcical plots yet. There were more holes in that plotline than in Rab C Nesbett's vest
How much longer do we have to suffer the crap that is Blackburn and his sensationlism |

Why were candles lit before the powercut? Have I just missed the fact that for the past few years they've had candles lit for no reason in there or were they conveniently added to save time for the other great scenes that we had tonight?
Why doesn't the bistro have a closed sign? That whole robbery would have been prevented if there was a clear indication that it was closed. Having said that it would have been pretty obvious to anyone with half a brain that the bistro wasn't actually open and Steph was unlikely to be in there. Why does anyone care about this stupid graffiti (mural whatever, it's not on your property so it's vandalism). Sophie is so monotone when talking about Maddie so why would we invest in her pretending to grieve? That sequence with the countdown to getting sprayed was embarrassing. We're meant to feel sorry for Carla but she threw a glass at someone today. Andy is now suddenly an expert in underfloor heating and on the floors around the street? The sequence of events that lead to the end of the episode was so bad even the characters were picking it apart. Carla is meant to be smart but thought it was a good idea to jump into a car and wrestle for a bag. She already knows one of the robber's names and their faces thanks to that poor disguise so getting it back shouldn't be hard at all. Phelan throwing his chips on the ground to jump infront of a car

What's with all this immature hanky panky?
Anna and Kevin were in the garage and all smirky like - we're teenagers who've just discovered sex. Then there was Tracy putting her sexy kit on and going to the bistro to seduce Robert. Maybe some people do carry on like this but two lots of people in Corrie in odd places on the same day? Yuk. And what was that old scr0te Ken's game? Was he asking Audrey for a date or was it just for a drink? His beloved wife, Deirdre is hardly cold and he's only just got rid of that horror Nessa. Randy old bugg3r. |

Two Kevin based observations:
- Not entirely sure why Anna and Kevin are having to contact all their family to tell everyone that they are going out. It'll only be a second or third date, but they are already acting like they will soon be living together (which of course they will, even if at this stage they don't know if they will get on). Anyway, when having "the talk" with Faye, Anna said "You'll have to get to know new people, like Jack and.... Rosie" Er, isn't Rosie Sophie's sister, in which case Faye should already be getting to know her if she's getting to know Sophie, as Tim's step-daughter? - Kevin and Phelan. Sort of went over my head as to why Kevin and him even spoke, but to have them like best mates sharing a bag of chips so quickly?! (Tim won't be pleased!) And was Phelan meant to look surprised when he saw Anna? He's working about 50 yards from where she lived before, so it shouldn't have been that much of a shock! |
